WE WANNA WORK W/ YOU ON OUR NEW SHORT FILM!
==
CALLING ALL FILMMAKERS & VIDEO EDITORS: We wanna turn this audio record “Departures” into a SHORT FILM! Let’s explore some abstract ways to present the theme of Past vs. Present w/ this film.
THANK YOU’s: I’m so stoked to have just signed checks totaling $40,085.00 heading out to 261 contributing artists for three productions! Sorry for the delay but we’re ironing out a new monetization method that’ll produce checks timelier.
Also, a huge round of thank you’s to all the contributing artists & producers of our new hitRECorderly #2 VINYL RECORD! What we made together is really special & I’m so excited for all y’all to hear it!

“A dream come true for a dream I never knew I had” - Attilee
I never thought I could be “creative”, never thought I was qualified enough to put my art out there. I never thought I would get paid for my art.
It is an amazing feeling to know that, somewhere, in a little corner of the internet, my art is valued, my imagination is encouraged, and my creativity is shared by kindred spirits. I’m still just a kid with a laptop and a dream. But, bit by bit, I am living it!
The best $3.43 I have ever earned.
Thank you, hitRECord. Again and again and again and again.

Hello all RECorders!
As you’ve surely noticed by now, we’ve launched a new version of hitRECord with a lot of improvements, new functionality, and user interface design work. Our small team has been working really hard on this since before Sundance, and we’re very excited to release it. We hope you like it and find it much improved in many areas.
It’s still a work in progress, and we’ll be rolling out a lot of bug fixes and tweaks over the rest of the week, plus a number of new features (like new collaboration pages, ability to “hide” records, new album layouts, etc.) over the coming weeks.
We’re very interested to hear feedback as you guys start to use it. Let us know things you like, dislike, or any bugs or errors or problems you run into.
Here’s a list of some of the headline improvements:
Brand new Record Creation process, with improved uploading, tagging, pre-set tags, and a vastly improved resource citing interface that allows you to search full thumbnails as well as quickly check your recent recommendations and downloads (as these are most often the records we all want to resource)
Completely redesigned and re-written Dashboard. It still shows the same six notification types under the same two tabs as the previous site, but now all records display full size, recommendations are collated together so you don’t see repeat recommendations, and you can also easily switch between the mingled feed of all activity or select individual streams (like just seeing new records from people you subscribe to).
New Homepage Layout to more easily browse through the Featured Records, and to highlight the Featured Collaborations we’re focusing on. More improvements and adjustments are already planned for this.
New Browse & Search page. Now with the ability view records in thumbnail format (with playable content!) and full notecard view. Also, this is where the old homepage sidebar links (recently recommended, latest records, most recommened, and greatest hits) live, which makes more sense.
Brand new User Pages! (this is one of my favorites). A much cleaner view of your records, featured records, recommendations, and collaborations. Plus, the ability to search, filter, and sort within any users records.
Also, we now track downloads and subscriptions so you can quickly see the records you’ve downloaded in the past and see all the people you subscribe to. (note: these are private categories that aren’t visible to other users)
New Footer with quick links to all areas of hitRECord (note: this is where the old “Conversations” page link is. I know a lot of people really enjoy that page, and we have a lot of new improvements to conversations coming soon, which is why it’s hidden down there now)That’s a short overview of the new improvements. Again, we’re really interested to hear what you all think and how it’s working for you.
Thanks to all of you for the love and care you have for this website and community. We keep trying to make it better for you, and hope you enjoy the new features we’ve built.
Thanks again,
Creative Director

BURNING dAN in GQ
First of all, I’d like to thank both of the Jims and everyone else at GQ for putting me on the cover of their magazine this month. That kind of exposure is a huge help to all the work I love to do, and I’m deeply appreciative.
I’m writing this because I have a problem with what their article says about my brother. I’ll be honest, it really made me feel terrible. Here’s a quote:
‘…the elder Gordon-Levitt died of an alleged drug overdose in 2010. “It was an accident” is all Joe will say about that.’
Using the word “alleged” technically allows the writer to say whatever she wants. The “allegations” to which she must be referring were made by a handful of gossip websites. They are factually incorrect according to the coroner’s office and the police department. I don’t like publicly speaking about my brother’s death, but I’m making an exception to correct this irresponsible claim.
By the way, while I asked the writer not to dwell on how he died, I did say quite a bit about how he lived, and how much he means to me. Dan was a brightly positive, genuinely caring, and brilliantly inspiring person, and I liked the idea of such a wide readership learning about him. My parents and I are disappointed with what the article chose to focus on regarding this sensitive subject.
thanks

Artists Against Fracking
The Made Shop has been...

The Made Shop has been working feverishly the past two weeks with Sean Lennon and Yuka Honda and Jared Geller and Yoko Ono and an innumerable list of other artists in New York to put together a campaign to urge New York’s Governor Cuomo to ban hydraulic fracturing (“fracking”) in New York State.
Sean & Yoko will be on Jimmy Fallon tonight which I’m told is going to be well worth watching. Please help spread the word, check out the website to learn more about fracking and why it is a dangerous and terribly bad idea, and contact Governor Cuomo to voice your opinion.
Last night, a group of like-minded artists launched a campaign to stand up against the devastation that will be caused if hydraulic fracturing (fracking) legislation is passed in places like New York.
