In my first novel, Post-Human, the main characters work as terraformers. Terraforming means to make lifeless planets into life-sustaining planets like Earth. Although readers who aren't familiar with science fiction might think this is a "way out there" concept that only belongs in the imaginations of crazy writers, the truth of the matter is that if we are going to survive as a species, terraforming has to be in our future.
