Death

Dreamt about Death, a dark figure who walked past me, paralyzing me.

As Death passed me by, the dark figure turned to light and turned to me to say, "I'm not on the job, just out for a walk."

weather

is the big news.

Snow, ice, icicles, bitter cold, subzero winds, freakish warmth with rain and hail, floods, freezing rain, slush, ice, wind, and more snow. It's cold enough.

It's cold enough to chill my teeth and bones. To regret going without gloves. To wish for a face mask or helmet. That cold.

I like to snowshoe around my house and rake snow from the roofs. I like to clear my driveway of snow and ice. I like to skate on icy ponds and climb snowy hills on sunny mornings.

how to knit a baby blanket in 3s

Buy some washable colorful cotton yarn and cast 90 stitches onto your favorite circular needles.
Knit from one end to the other 3 times: garter stitch.

Now K3, P3 and repeat. Finish with K3.

When you start and finish the row with K3, you'll get a garter stitch border. The K3 P3 repeat makes wide stripes and the blanket will lay flat.

Make it about 3 feet long. Finish with 3 rows of K for final garter stitch border.

Wash gently with mild soap, and lay flat to dry or dry on low.

boom

It's New Year's Eve. In my quiet retiree Franco-American neighborhood someone feels compelled to set fireworks aflame. Boom.

Why?

Must be a man thing.

Best NYE memory: Honolulu. oh yeah

flash

Healing circle yesterday, we shared Reiki and other modalities.

We had just started to work on D when there was a sudden bright flash of light. We all saw it: jumped and gasped.

ice storm

Birches are bent over like wet grass.

Tree tops touch the ground.

Ice tubes litter my driveway, fallen off the power lines and cables.

icy roofs

I like to rake the snow off my roofs.

It's productive, strenuous, and satisfying. Sometimes ice crashes down dramatically. Sometimes I need snowshoes to get around the house.

It's all ice in Maine right now.

eggs

I like to buy fresh free-range local eggs.

Trouble is, chickens slow down in winter, and people bake a lot for the holidays

So, no eggs today.

snow, ice, car accidents

Saw 5 accidents yesterday on the turnpike. I was returning home from NYC. Saw an SUV on it's roof, in the median. Others looked like snow-slides into a ditch.

I kept to 45 mph, kept it steady, avoiding abrupt movements and braking.

Today was detoured around an accident. Head-on. It snowed all afternoon and roads were slushy or icy.

Please drive responsibly and safely, everyone.

jammie time

Best, most favorite part of Christmas is jammie time. That time with family when you hang out in jammies and talk about those things closest to your heart.
