Happy 4th!

So, my next novel is done! Okay, fine, the first draft is done. And now I need to read and edit all 348 pages before sending it to my editor at Penguin Random House (in case you haven't heard, they merged).

I'm staring at a freshly printed stack of crisp white computer paper emblazoned with my very own words and anxiously waiting to dive in. Okay, fine, I'm a little nervous to dive in. It's so hard to have perspective on your own writing.

But, instead of working today, on this gorgeous July 4th, I'm going to hang out with good friends and eat delicious food. I may even have a well-deserved cocktail ;)

Hope everyone is doing something fun today and celebrating our beautiful country.

The big 3-7!

It's my BIRTHDAY!! YAY!! The big 3-7. As in three more years until I'm 40. Oh well. Life is good ;)

I'd like to thank ABC for kicking off this season of The Bachelorette last night and I'd also like to thank my willpower for not watching it yet...can you say birthday gift!?

Fun weekend with lots of friends, the hubs, and my two delicious little babies. (Fine, they're almost 3 and 4)

So much to do, so little time...

I always start the day with the best intentions--to write at least 1,000-2,000 words of my new novel. Unfortunately, my best intentions are not always realized.

When I first set out to write books, I thought...I'll just sit at my computer and write, send the manuscript to my editor, and then the book will publish for all the world to read and adore. Ha!

Some days it feels like the writing is the least of it! While trying to write my next book, I'm still handling all the stuff that has to be done for the first novel...redesigning my website, copy edits, publicity, cross-promotional partnerships. And, of course, frequent check-ins on Goodreads.

Not to mention that I'm potty training my 2-and-3 year olds. Awesome!

Good thing I have a deadline of Novemeber...

First Post!

I've never had a blog. For real. I've been a writer for 15 years. Never had a blog. Honestly, I've always been skeptical. What new or interesting could I possibly bring to the table? Well, I guess there's only one way to find out.

Follow me through the publication of my debut novel, You Knew Me When (September 3, 2013; Penguin). I'll regale you with the myriad details of the ups and downs of publishing a book.

Cheer for me as I write my second novel (September 2014; Penguin). Some days I "feel it." Some days...not so much. I'll definitely need some help coming up with a title!
