Playing With Marrowbones

I'm just playing with the colour here. I kind of like this look....I somehow fell asleep with my little boy this afternoon and lost a bunch of work time. But I think I needed the time for a bit of a breather. Organize my ideas and projects. Amazing how I need to plan months in advance. On top of Maddy Kettle and Marrowbones I have another project, a collaboration, I'm really excited about.

Inking Marrowbones

Here's a look at a partially finished Marrowbones panel, inked on Cintiq with Manga studio. Inkling on a Cintiq is a really fun experience, it's like drawing on glass. If you know anyone with a Cintiq give it a try, it's a great way to draw.

I'm about 4 pages away from finishing the inks on Marrowbones 2; Oliver's Tomb. I'm hoping to have this one up for sale within the next week and a half! So stay tuned...

Riggs The Studio Cat

The neighbor's cat, Riggs, has decided he loves hanging out in my studio so now I leave the door open so the elderly cat can come and go. I'm loving his surprise visits. I think he likes to watch me draw. Ghouls especially.

Nora In Crowsnest Cemetery, Marrowbones Issue 2

A little sneak peek at Marrowbones issue 2; Oliver's Tomb, which tells some back story before the Kitchen Lich story in issue 1. My approach right now is for the first three issues to focus on exploring the world and characters before issue 4 which will begin to tell a slightly broader narrative, although still with shorter stories. I want to keep Marrowbones as manageable shorter works I can do between larger comics and after time a greater story will emerge.

Marrowbones Forbidden Planet Review

Please go check out the wonderful Forbidden Planet International review of Marrowbones. So honored they did this write up!

"Marrowbones is short yet sweet, a quirky, creepy, cutesy thing to appeal to grown ups and kids alike."

Another Amazing TCAF

TCAF is my favorite comic book event. You can see the best artists and story tellers there. What a remarkable event. Above is me doing an "old lady" voice at the Saturday Morning Webtoons event this afternoon. That group can act! So much fun. There is no crowd as warm and engaged as a TCAF crowd.

And look what I got!! We just moved into a new townhouse here in Toronto and I filled the car up with art to fill the walls. I promised myself I would only buy prints and minicomics and this turned out to be a great idea, I got more treasures this year than ever before. It's still going on tomorrow! Go! It really is wonderful.
