Sprout Revisited

I took some time this week to sketch my alter ego from the Sprout comic strip, I was thinking of publishing it again in the new year but slightly more finished looking than it was previously. It was initially very doodley looking and it kind of drives me nuts to not push things a little further. I haven't done Sprout in a couple of years and really miss it.

A Yelling Splike

A bit of a Maddy panel, here's a very upset Splike the scarecrow. I'm off to work at the Christmas fair again today. Feeling sore, I'm not used to so much physical work! But this is the kind of thing you've got to do sometimes when you work in a creative field. And it's probably good for me!

Cacti

Suddenly a bit busy. I took some shifts helping out at a Christmas fair in town so every day I get Henry ready for school and drop him off, go to work and come home and work on Maddy. So if I skip a post or two that's why.

Above is a detail of a Maddy panel, some cacti.

Week In Photos

Having become more or less addicted to Instagram and iPhone photos in general I'm building a real collection of pictures of daily life. I thnk it's a fun extension of my drawing and painting.

Méto The Snowboy By Paul Fricke

My friend Paul Fricke has a really cool new project I wanted to share. This is a great, all ages comic with great art and a really fun read. I'll let Paul explain:

"This first tale depicts the initial meeting of Méto the Snowboy and the little Nepali boy, Jyoti. It’s about friendship, family, and how we are all so much shaped by our environment. Jyoti, his family, and the orphaned baby yeti are sustained by and must cope with the wonders and dangers of their rural village in Nepal near the Himalayas. It’s the first comic I’ve created and executed digitally, even when I never thought I’d leave my drawing board - a complete surprise to me. Méto is intended to be a seven-chapter, 100+ page color graphic novel. The handmade comic of chapter one, Pick-Up Sticks, in black & white can be had online, and I’ll even do a customised sketch in the book!"
