Giselle Renarde Erotica for $0.99

So, sometimes you don't want to spend more than a dollar on an ebook. That's cool. I shop off the dollar table at Indigo (that's a bookstore here in Canada) and I've discovered some great stuff there.
Here are a few of my erotica and queer fiction titles you can snag for $0.99 (at time of posting~prices sometimes fluctuate):
Gigglepuss, the title I so love! Lesbian schoolgirl fun, giggling, kissing, toe-sucking... I just love this story. I really do.
Faithful John and the Dungeon Ravens, BDSM Romance, Fairy Tale Bondage Erotica
Kandinsky's Shirt Button, Trans Call Girl + Nerdy Accountant = Erotic Romance

Cunning Little Vixens, M/F/F/F Schoolgirl Menage, Erotic Historical and Quirky Comedy:

Ugly Naked People, Lesbian Eating Disorder Romance Short (This one's queer lit fic, not erotica, but it is award-nominated and a category bestseller. And there is nudity.)
Hope you find something you like. For $0.99, it's worth a go!

Quick Six PRO with Dakota Trace

Quick Six PROInterview with Dakota Trace

Q: What's the most time-consuming part of a writer's life?

I'd have to say the editing part. It seems like I'm always editing something. That could be an illusion though. The actual writing flies by so quickly because I'm usually in a groove, whereas the editing portion of it seems to take more time because I'm fixing, analyzing and adjusting problem areas. Probably because it uses a different part of my brain than the creative part the writing does.

Q: On the topic of ebook piracy, hunter or head in the sand?

I'm probably more along the lines of head in the sand. I periodically check on my titles by googling them and even when I do and find them, I get extremely frustrated by the piracy sites themselves that I give up. Of course, I realize they aren't going to make it easy for me but I have better ways to spend my time, like writing the next book in my series.

Q: How do you handle a bad review?
First I cuss out loud at the computer, then talk to my hubby, before I pick apart the review to see why the reviewer didn't like it. If I think it's a valid reason...something I could've done better, I take it into consideration as I write my next book. If not, I figure everyone is entitled to their opinion and forget about the review.

Q: What advice do you give aspiring authors?

Find a good beta reader/editor that isn't necessarily you're biggest fan. Unfortunately those that are have a tendency to say, "I love it!" and it could be the worse thing they ever read. It's kinda like asking the hubby, "do you think this makes me look fat?" Do you honestly expect him to tell you does?

Q: Do you have a preference for short stories or longer works?

If you'd have asked me this question six months ago, I'd have said longer works. But as of late, I've been pushing myself to see if I can write stories that are less than 10K. I can say I'm enjoying the challenge, even when I fail - such as my recent story that ended up being 12K instead of the 10K I was shooting for.

Q: Do you find yourself writing for the market and not for YOU, or self-censoring in any way?

Honestly I can say I try to stay on top of the trends of what's selling, hence my most recent foray into writing m/m. I've never in the past thought of even attempting it, until I received several requests to write a book for a secondary m/m couple from Nisey's Awakening and Taming Kalinda, but before I do, I decided to test the waters and write a short to see how well it goes over.

Q: How have the people in your life reacted to your career as a writer?

For the most part, my family has been very supportive...sometimes too supportive. And why do I say that? It's one thing to have my adult sister and brother to say, "Cool, meet my sister, the smut writer." (that's an inside joke btw) and another to have my son giving out my books marks to his teachers at school. (True story - the little bugger gave all his sixth grade teachers one of my bookmarks. Mom and him had a to have a discussion between what the difference is between Romance and Erotic romance and why it wasn't appropriate for him to be giving them out) *shakes head* But otherwise my dad and husband are my biggest fans - and my dad has read everything I've ever written.

Dakota Trace is author of:
Conquering Jude

Bozka Metjka, better known as Mistress Olivia, has everything she's ever wanted: a successful BDSM club, wonderful friends, and as many horny subs as she wants begging at her feet for the privilege of pleasing her. But now approaching her fortieth birthday, she realizes that something is missing: her Joie de Vivre - and she knows just the man to bring it back – a security consultant, twelve years her junior, who claims there's not a submissive bone in his body.

While Jude Larson won't deny the effect the little brunette has on him, he's in serious denial of his submissive nature. So what if he deliberately wagers against the lovely Domme in hopes of losing so he can spend a little bit of quality time with her? That doesn't make him submissive does it? All too soon he's going to find out when danger stalks Olivia's club and he's called on to protect the sexy Domme of his dreams from a madman.

Six Sentence Sunday - Eclipse the Stars, trans lesbian erotic romance

Six. Sentence. Sunday-Sunday-Sunday!
Today's 6 come to you from my very latest release, a trans lesbian erotic romance short called Eclipse the Stars.
Eclipse the Stars is part of Torquere Press' 2011 Charity Sip Blitz, which means all proceeds from the sale of this ebook go to this year's charitable organization, It Gets Better. I don't usually push hard for you to buy, buy, buy, but this is for queer youth, so... buy, buy buy!
Short little set-up: Jody is an actress who isn't getting a hell of a lot of work these days. She's worried about fading looks, and monstrously jealous of her girlfriend Renata, a post-op trans woman who seems to wake up more beautiful every morning:
When they stopped at a light, Renata took one hand off the wheel to grab Jody's. "What's wrong?"

Jody forced a laugh as she flicked down the passenger visor. She fluffed her bangs with her spare hand. "You know, a few years ago I would look in the mirror and see Jackie from That 70's Show. Now I look in the mirror and see Jackie from Roseanne."

Eclipse the Stars is $1.99, and my royalties as well as the publisher's share, cover artist's, everybody's--everything gets donated to It Gets Better. You can buy this transgender lesbian short from Torquere Press.

Saturday Snark: When Callie Met Hipsters...

M/M romance author Marie Sexton just started the latest trend. Just today. It's called "Saturday Snark," where you post a snarky little excerpt from your work. Yippee!!!
When I heard about Saturday Snark, the first book that came to mind was my new release Callie and the Hipsters. Callie arrives at her summer house only to find it overtaken by her son's hipster friends. Here's a bit of snark from their initial interaction:

Turning away from the knitters, Callie took a good look at the tall white kid arranging crudité on her good platter. His hair was frizzy and seemed five times the size of his face, most of which was concealed by a thick beard. Callie felt a little like she'd fallen down the rabbit hole. Girls knitting? Boys eating vegetables? Not a keg in sight? These kids were so strange. This party was hardly what she would call a party, and she couldn't conceal her amusement. "When I was at university, we'd be smoking pot and pigging out on potato chips by now."

The girls gave her a pitiful smile, as if to say, "You poor dear!" The boy shook his head. "How would you like to be lit on fire for someone else's amusement?" he asked. "Or boiled in oil! Imagine the agony!"

"Geoff is a raw food vegan," the Asian girl explained.

Not that Callie had any idea what that meant. Her confusion must have shown on her face, because the blonde explained, "He doesn't eat meat or anything else that comes from animals, and he won't eat fruits or vegetables that have been cooked."

Callie had never conceived of such a diet—and she thought she'd heard them all. "Why won't you eat cooked vegetables?"

His jaw dropped, like he was shocked or even offended by the question. "Can you imagine what it feels like to be dropped in a pot of boiling water?"

With a shrug, Callie said, "Probably not as painful as being eaten alive."

Callie and the Hipsters is available now from Secret Cravings Publishing
And there's even more snark at Marie Sexton's website!

It Gets Better Charity Sip Blitz: Eclipse the Stars

Has anybody out there been waiting for some NEW trans lesbian erotica from Giselle Renarde? (That's me--I don't know I'm speaking in the third person. George likes spicy chicken!)
Ahem... okay, let me start over.
One of my publishers, Torquere Press, put a call out for their annual "Charity Sip Blitz." This year's charity is the It Gets Better project, so how could I not write something awesome? All royalties will benefit It Gets Better. But more on that later.
For my story Eclipse the Stars, I went back to my first love: transgender lesbian erotic romance. As far as I could tell when I scanned the website, Eclipse the Stars is the only lesbian story of all the 33 Charity Sips--if I got that wrong, please somebody punch me in the neck. Or just let me know.
When the call for submissions went out for this project, it specified long-term loving LGBT couples, so that's what we've got in Eclipse the Stars. The characters in this short, Jody and Renata, are modeled on my girl and I (big surprise--aren't they all?) which makes this baby close to my heart. I really hope you'll buy it and tell all your friends to support this project: buy erotic romance to raise money for charity. What could be better?
And now, a bit about Eclipse the Stars:
Eclipse the Stars by Giselle Renarde
Jody and Renata have been together since the start of Renata's transition, and so much has changed in that time. Jody used to be the beautiful, successful actress, and Renata the mousy, insecure, girlfriend. Ever since Renata's surgery, though, she's gained confidence, stopped worrying about passing as female and, in Jody's eyes, blossomed into an incredibly gorgeous woman. Now Renata's gaining all the attention while Jody's getting less acting work and worrying about fading looks. Can Jody set her jealousy aside to give Renata the love, affection, and commitment she deserves?
Sample

Jody breathed in her girl's floral perfume, and that scent broke her. She melted in Renata's arms weaving her fingers together behind Renata's back, trying so hard to keep the tears at bay. "Nobody remembers me anymore. I used to be the pretty one, the actor, the girl everyone was excited to see. Now it's you. Everybody loves you, and that's great and I'm glad, but…"

Jody backed away to get a good look at Renata -- tall, dark hair, Spanish eyes, full pouting lips. In that long black swishy skirt and the silky blouse the colour of a South American sunset, Renata had been the most gorgeous woman at that restaurant. But, then, Renata was always the most beautiful woman in any room.

They floated to bed together, heads finding a pillow to share. "After everything we've been through together, how could you begrudge me the love and affection of others?"

Guilt welled up in Jody and coupled with shame. She couldn't contain the tears now. They streamed down her cheeks, soaking the pillow. "I'm just not used to it," was all she could think to say, but that sounded pathetic. "I'm jealous of you, Renata. I want what you have."

To Jody's amazement, Renata laughed -- laughed even as she kissed the tears from Jody's face and said, "Don't you think I wanted what you had when you were the star? My girlfriend the actress, everybody worships her, everybody wants her. Nobody saw me at your side."

"You were shy."

"I was an oddity, at best." Renata stroked Jody's arms, ran those pretty painted fingernails down her thighs. "I felt so ugly next to you."

Jody couldn't believe her ears. "You were never ugly. Why would you think that? You were mousier before -- before the surgery, I mean -- not quite as bold."

"I was so self-conscious, so worried about passing. The surgery changed more than just my body. Now nobody can call me into question. Nobody can tell me I'm not a real woman. I was mousy because I didn't have this confidence before. I didn't want to be seen. I was afraid, and I hid behind you because I knew little Jody would keep me safe. And I worried I was dragging you down, but I learned that nothing could drag you down, honey, nothing could…" Renata brushed the too-long bangs from Jody's eyes. "What's changed?"

New Release: Callie and the Hipsters

Hot on the heels of Stacy's Dad Has Got It Going On, another sizzling story hits the market. Callie and the Hipsters is part of Secret Cravings' Hot Flash line of Cougar fiction. This baby's all Multicultural MMF and wickedness hotness. Well, not all, because there's also some family drama you're sure to enjoy. Although it's written primarily as an (erotic) romantic comedy, you might just find it a bit of a tearjerker, too.
Callie and the Hipsters is my first release with Secret Cravings Publishing, and with the keen editorial support at that publishing house, it won't be my last. I hope you will enjoy reading Callie and the Hipsters as much as I enjoyed writing it. And, trust me, this book was a joy to write. As a self-professed hipster doofus, I gotta say... we had it coming. ;-)
When Callie's husband leaves her for a younger woman, she drives all the way out to the summerhouse only to find it's been taken over by hipsters--twenty-somethings who wear plaid and listen to indie rock and eat nothing but raw broccoli. They're friends of her son, Dante, all queer and quirky students at the nearby university.

At first, Callie's irritated that her son has thrown a party in her haven of relaxation, but when she and a bottle of Kahlua stumble upon two young men gettin' it on in her bed her annoyance morphs into arousal. The drink and the day's multitude of disappointments encourage her to join Vish and Evan, pansexual and polyamorous young men who are more than happy to welcome a vibrant older woman into their bed. How will they feel about inviting Callie into their lives?

Adult Excerpt

Callie froze after pressing the door to the master suite open with her hip. She was still in the doorframe when she realized she wasn't alone. The lights were off, but the moon and its twin in the lake illuminated the space well enough for her to make out two bodies writhing in her bed. Hers and Winston‟s bed. Well, not anymore. She very nearly turned tail and left them to it before remembering this was her bedroom, not theirs, and she'd most likely had a much crappier day than they'd had, so she deserved it more.

And then she thought, well, what am I going to use it for? Drinking alone until she passed out? At least they were having fun. They were young! Let them enjoy life.

Callie didn't move. She wasn't really sure where to go, now. There were two girls making out on the couch downstairs, and up here…were these girls too? Whoever they were, they were too into each other to notice her presence. She waited for her eyes to adjust to the moonlight, and when they did she nearly dropped her Kahlua. They were boys—both of them! At first she wasn't sure. She tried to convince herself the white guy underneath the brown guy was actually female, but they were both buck naked and there was no mistaking balls.

Both guys were skinny. Thin arms, thin frames, thin legs—skinny. She had a much better view of the brown guy—Indian, maybe? South Asian, at any rate. He was fucking the white guy doggie-style—did gay guys call it that? Callie didn‟t know—with the covers and sheets all pushed down to the foot of the bed. Although she felt like a total perv for doing it, Callie crept further inside the bedroom and concealed herself in the darkness of the corner by the door. She gulped down her second bathroom cup of Kahlua and poured herself a third. If she was going to act like an utter reprobate, she should at least have an excuse. Drunkenness was a fine justification for any misbehaviour.

The Indian boy had a hand in the white boy's sandy hair now. Callie could just make out the clutch and pull as he forced his lips against the boy's ear. "You like that, don‟t you? You like my cock in your ass."

The white boy moaned, but that obviously wasn't good enough. "Tell me you like it," the Indian guy insisted. "Tell me you like my fat dick in your tight little asshole."

"I like it," the white boy cried. It was the first time Callie heard his voice, and it was higher in pitch than she'd anticipated. "Give me your big dick, Vish. Fuck me hard."

It seemed to Callie that this boy, Vish, was already fucking him hard, but apparently Vish could go harder. "You sure you can handle any more?" he taunted.

"I can take everything you've got, babe."

Callie and the Hipsters is available NOW! Buy it today!

Giselle

Sapphic Signs: Age of Aquarius

In case you missed Lara Z's intro last week, I'll briefly recap by saying that "Sapphic Signs" is a line of lesbian fiction available from Torquere Press. Every week I'll be featuring a different book from Sapphic Signs. I don't have a story in this line and I have no vested interest in promoting it, beyond the fact that I'd like to see lesbian fiction selling big-time because I looooooove it. :-)
Without further delay, here's this week's Sapphic Sign:The Age of Aquariusby Sofia Antonia Milone
Young and often political English artist Charlotte Hope clashes with renowned New York Times art critic Rachel Stein, whose praise is hard to earn. Set in the late sixties in New York City during the infamous Summer of Love, and with a backdrop of national and international conflict, tension builds between two women, who find themselves working together toward a common goal. Charlotte learns she doesn't have to like everyone she sleeps with, while Rachel discovers quite the reverse. Eventually they learn that tragedy can bring people to their senses, and bring them together.Sample

"Why are we doing this?" Charlotte asked plainly one afternoon as they lay in post-coital slumber for the usual designated ten minutes. That slumber seemed to now include a little chatter, she noted.

Jefferson Airplane blared out though small tanned speakers, something about joy dying and the truth being lies. Rachel picked tobacco from her teeth. "Because it's fun."

"Depraved is what it is."

"I prefer to think of it as decadent," Rachel blew a cigarette circle at her before answering the question. Charlotte frowned at the act, squinting to avoid the gray cloud that was advancing. "I don't know," Rachel said. "I'm sure there's some psychological bull crap behind it. For you I imagine it's about power, forcing me to submit to your will." She smiled. "Personally I just prefer angry sex; it's generally better."

"Is that why you do your best to enrage me?" The question was clearly rhetorical.

"You say it like I have to try, darling!" Rachel drawled, smiling indulgently.

More Thoughts on the Disembodied Torso

Last week I wrote about "the man with the chest," the strong Alpha male, and why he's a character who doesn't tend to show his disembodied head in my work. It got me thinking about the kinds of men I DO write about, and the many, many qualities a man can have aside from…a chest.

I'm not big-time into men, personally, and even when I was, the sort of man who drew my attention was not the type you'd generally see on the cover of a romance novel. But I've written many, many, many male characters over the years, so who are they?

The first "hero" (if you want to call him that) who springs to mind is Sandy from my novella Only Angels. If you judged him based solely on the cover of the book, you'd surely take him for a man with a chest. He HAS a chest, and a bare one, but he's actually the most angelic of all the angels in the story—he's a virgin, if you can believe it. A sweet, innocent virgin boy who is working essentially as a male prostitute at the "Only Angels" cougar club to help his family. Awww…so sweet. So, if a man's not a "strong Alpha Male," he might just be an innocent virgin like Sandy.

Next I think of Lawrence from the Audrey & Lawrence series, primarily because this character is based very much on the man whose mistress I was for 10 years of my life. Kind of hard to forget. Lawrence is trapped in a sexless marriage, and I guess I sort of portray him as falling victim to Femme Fatale Audrey in these stories. He doesn't want to cheat on his wife. He tries to resist. He thinks of himself as a good man…but…well, Audrey won't take no for an answer. Yes, he jerks her around a bit over the course of the series, but we see both characters' vulnerabilities front and centre as we explore their relationship. So, if a man's not a "strong Alpha Male," he might just be desperate for love, like Lawrence.

Another male character who comes to mind is Professor Selyph from Secrets of the Solstice Sacrifice. Looks-wise, I modeled him on Professor Snape (yes, from Harry Potter) because…yeah, I think he's monstrously hot. Selyph is a fay mystic in historical Wales. He's a recluse and a curmudgeon, but when Trysta appears on his doorstep, he is entranced by her. Still, as a magical hermit and a solitary fairy, he doesn't really know how to interact with her. I find his cluelessness in the domains of romance and seduction pretty adorable, actually. So, if a man's not a "strong Alpha Male," he might just be an awkward but loveable loner like Selyph.

I love geeks and wimps, hippies and hipsters, scrawny guys in skinny jeans, virgins and sweetheart loners. Not all male characters have to be Alphas, right? Not if you like girls on top.

What do you think, readers and writers? Have you encountered and enjoyed male characters who were not your typical "man with a chest"? Do tell!

Hugs,

Giselle

Quick Six PRO Interview with Daisy Dunn (Part 2)

Quick Six PROInterview with Daisy DunnPart II
(If you're counting, yes there are more than 6 Q&A's today. If you're not counting...forget I said anything LOL)
Q: Have you ever encountered any unprofessional behaviours from editors, publishers or other writers, that they might not even realize are damaging?

Daisy Dunn: I have been very fortunate. I found a wonderful publishing company, Secret Cravings Publishing, and the writers there are like family. It been nothing but a wonderful experience.

Q: What do you look for in a publisher?

Daisy Dunn: First, I want my book to fit in with what they are selling and supporting. Secondly, I want good communication between the authors and the publisher. Third, I want good communication between the authors and the publisher...I can't stress that point enough, it's so important.

Q: What makes an editor great or...not so great?

Daisy Dunn: Again it comes down to great communication. If you don't agree on a change/edit, you need to talk openly with your editor. They need to hear your point, but you need to also listen to theirs. I have also lucked out with an amazing editor.

Q: Do you have a preference for short stories of longer works?

Daisy Dunn: I love them both. I write both and even though short stories are "somewhat" easier to write, with novels, you can go into so much more depth on the characters, plot and scenes. I still love to write/read both.

Q: If you've ventured into self-publishing, what are the pros and cons?

Daisy Dunn: I've never ventured into self-publishing, but my sister has. She loved it the experience and I never heard her say anything negative about it. I don't know much about self-publishing, but I think I would miss the support I get from my publisher and fellow authors at my publishing house.

Q: Do you find yourself writing for the market and not for YOU, or
self-censoring in any way?

Daisy Dunn: I totally write for me. I write exactly what I would love to read. Between the story lines and the sex scenes, I write what appeals to me and lights my fire :)

Q: How have the people in your life reacted to your career as a writer?

Daisy Dunn: Everyone has been extremely supportive and kind. They want to read my books which is wonderful, but kind of daunting. I couldn't be happier though.

Q: Any promo tips for fellow authors?

Daisy Dunn: Blog like a fiend and get together with other authors to promote each other's work. It gets your name and books out there to more people. Make friends with fellow authors because only they know what you are truly going through. :)
