"Ms. Kenrick's writing style flows nicely
throughout the story. Her attention stays more on the characters rather than the setting which is fitting
for the genre of the novella. I like her ability to dig deep within the characters feelings allowing them to
step up and tell their story. It is as if the author really took the back seat on this one. Very well written
indeed! JoAnne Kenrick knows how to write unique, if not quirky, characters that stay with me long
after I've finished reading their stories."
-- Talina, Night Owl Reviews

This Sweet Irish Kiss excerpt has been edited to make it a PG-13.
Please keep in mind that

the full story has a 4 flame rating and is therefore NOT suitable for
minors.

I can't believe I did that. What a great first impression. Not! And only I could
top it off by going all defensive on his ass. Poor guy looks like a rabbit caught in the headlights. At
least he was a gentleman about it, though. Had any of my exes seen me go down like a ton of bricks, all
Nia Vilvados style, they'd have pissed themselves laughing and grabbed their cameras. I'm the
character who gets caught up in headphone wire when she sees a hot guy in that movie...Fat Greek
Wedding, Big Fat Greek...whatever. I know what I mean.

Rachel shuddered. She'd
fallen flat on her face because the hunkiness of her one-night stand had taken her by surprise. She
hadn't expected it. Not in the least. Average, that's what his profile had said. It's why she picked him.
She figured he wouldn't be up himself. Most attractive men who know they're hot behave like
monkeys in heat because of it. She wanted a man who would be thanking his lucky stars to have her in
his arms, and one who would be romantic and polite. And when he rushed to help her, he'd surprised
her again.

Drop dead gorgeous and caring? This could be dangerous.

"Ya feeling better now?"
Thick Irish accent, smooth like Baileys, coated each word her one-night stand spoke.

"Uh-huh."
She glanced up at his welcoming expression and caught her stare in his. "So, you're Irish?" You're
Irish?

He quirked his mouth into a grin as if she amused him. She reminded herself that she
wanted this and backed up. She sat on the nearest thing to her, a dining chair from the breakfast for two
set, and chewed at her freshly manicured nails. She couldn't remember the last time she'd felt this
nervous. Her stomach flip- flopped around the butterflies dancing in her gut.

"Ya, that a problem?" God I
love his Irish brogue.

"Listen, Shaun, I'm sorry about the way I came down on you. I
mean, not came down on you. Hell, I...I'm sorry for losing it." He raised an eyebrow. "For biting your
head off when you tried to help."

"Hey, I get it. I'm not what ya expected." Shaun, hands firmly
rooted in his pockets, shrugged his shoulders. "Ya definitely not what I expected, either, but here we
are. We can call it a day if you prefer or we can enjoy the rest of the evening. What do ya say? I can
leave if ya like. The hotel room's been paid for, so ya can spend the night and make the most of it. I'll

leave ya be, so I will. But I'd rather stay here...with ya."

Her stare locked on Shaun, and she watched him grab
his bag from the foot of the bed and stride toward the exit. His muscular frame, dark features, and great
sense of style had her knees knocking together. She couldn't remember the last time she actually
wanted a man. But it wasn't like she'd chase after him. The day she did that would be the day she
forgave her daddy, or rolled over dead. The latter was more likely to happen first.

[image error] The following excerpt has been edited to make it a PG-
13 excerpt. Please keep in mind that the book does contain adult themes and language, and is not
suitable for minors.

Pretentious, that's how Rachel
described the infamous Knightsbridge store where she worked. She loved her job, though. It meant she
could let loose, make crazy-ass window displays, and stretch her imagination beyond the high street
fashion trends. Usually.

"Effing yuppie fashion." She
stood, pin cushion in hand, staring out the huge plate glass window. The rain drizzled over passing
shoppers who huddled and shared umbrellas with loved ones. She wished she could have someone she
could trust to protect her when life pissed all over her, but she didn't have anyone like that. The big
brick wall she'd built had seen to it.

A flashback of
running through a downpour with her father hit her hard. He'd thrown his coat over her, sheltering her
and leaving himself open to the elements. They giggled all the way home, running late for a Mother's
Day dinner.

She closed her eyes to try and block out
the past, but the darkness acted as a blank canvas for her memory to play out the scene until a rumble
of thunder in the distance brought her back to the present.

She sniffled back her feelings and grasped a plastic body to steady herself. A teardrop trickled
down her face, and she smeared it away. Time to buckle up and get
over it
. Once a fond memory, it now served as a bitter pill. He'd tricked her, tricked everyone
with his gallant gestures. He could never again be the genuine, kind man she remembered from her
childhood. At least not to her, anyway.

"Effing life." She
threw a knit over a male model's shoulders and fluffed to give it a casual yet purposeful style. "What
are they thinking, asking me to decorate the mannequins with this jumped up crap? Men don't dress
like Prince William. No man I know anyway."

Her pocket buzzed. Rachel flipped her phone open. "Hello?" Nothing. "Hell-o?"

Still nothing. She pulled it from her ear and glanced at the digital
display.

"Email, not a call. I'm never going to
get used to this stupid, high tech phone." She pressed a few buttons. Some wrong. Some right.
Eventually, she managed to open up the message.

A last minute check, to make sure your 1NightStand goes as you desire. May I suggest you
wear a corset, my dear, to flatter your curves. He'll be there before you, and I picked a room especially
with a double door entrance so you can have a Scarlet O'Hara moment. Please don't wear green. He
hates the color. A bottle of Jameson would make a wonderful gift, should you wish to bring something
along to break the ice. And best of all, Rachel, remember why you wanted this and enjoy the
experience. Good luck, dear, I hope he's all you need.

Bien a toi, Evangeline

"Put this blindfold on," he ordered, "if ya want a
surprise." He wanted to put it on her himself. But knowing she had trust issues, it didn't feel right to do
so. Instead, he went to the bathroom to clean the toys with warm, soapy water as the packet had said
for him to do. He hoped she would be sightless and under his demand when he got back.

He wasn't
disappointed. Still on all fours, she had done as requested. He smeared lube over the beads and eased
them into her. As an anal newbie, he had no idea how much it would turn him on and drive him insane.
He wanted to rip them out and shove his cock inside her tight little hole instead. His hard on throbbed
with need already, and it had only been minutes since he'd come. Sure he would be able to perform
again, and probably too soon if he didn't grab hold of himself, he grinned.

When the fifth and biggest
bead was inside her, he whipped on a condom, slipped inside her bleep entrance from behind, and
plunged all the way into her slick warmth . The bumpity-bump of the latex numbs rubbing against him
through her thick layer massaged his length as he moved, and he couldn't contain the growl that
emerged from deep in his gut.

New Release: Licorne, a sweet and sensual trans lesbian fantasy

What better way to celebrate International Women's Day than with a new release that addresses the question of what it means to be a women.
At the start of my new fantasy/historical lesbian story Licorne, one of our heroines is a unicorn. In Licorne's own world she'd possessed a human form, but in Galiana's world she inhabits a horse-like body... with a horn. Licorne is special and unusual. The people of Galiana's kingdom have never known anyone like her, and that puts some on edge. Of course, she and Galiana recognize that Licorne has the spirit of a woman, and they hope one day to be embodied as humans together, to express their love physically.
But that's all backstory.
Licorne is available now from booksellers such as loveyoudivine, Amazon and All Romance, and it'll be popping up at other retailers very soon, so keep an eye out!
In the meantime, enjoy the blurb and an excerpt:
In their hearts, they are two beautiful women, and very much in love. The physical reality is a lot more complicated.
When Licorne's cruel former master tracks her down, the unicorn and her human love Galiana must flee to Limen, the world between worlds. In the Limen, they know Licorne can alter her physical form so they can finally be women together, but how will Galiana react to Licorne's much-anticipated transformation? In human form, Licorne's body comes with much more than Galiana had anticipated…
Excerpt:When her arms and legs reached the peak of exhaustion, Galiana floated on the water. Licorne looked on from the shore, every so often bending to drink as Galiana's naked body moved with the current. Sunlight dappled her pale breasts while a cool breeze kissed her pink nipples, drawing them to tight buds. Between her thighs, downy hair glinted like gold.

"When we reach the Limen…" Licorne began.

A sudden thrill ran through Galiana's body, buzzing warmly in her core. "Oh Licorne, my love, I never imagined this day would come, when we could be women together, when we could be lovers at last! Though I hoped it would be in a happier circumstance."

Licorne halted by the riverside, and Galiana saw in those beautiful blue eyes that she was lost for words.

"I have only passed through once before," Licorne said at last. "When first escaping my master. In the Limen he could not find me, for I entered before him and one only perceives the parties with whom one crosses the threshold. My time was limited to one day and one night before I was forced to pass through into your world."

Galiana stood in the river, sheets of water coursing from her wet hair and caressing her bottom. As Licorne explained the Limen, she found her focus shifting, her mind forming a unicorn into a woman. It had always been an idle fantasy, this idea of making love with Licorne in human form. In Licorne's own world she had been embodied in flesh, so the fantasy was not a terrible stretch.

"You are beauty itself, my love." Licorne lowered her head as Galiana walked dripping from the river.

"Ah, but you are vastly more so." Falling to her knees, Galiana pressed her forehead to the expanse between Licorne's nose and horn. Her skin tingled with anticipation. "And when you are a woman in flesh, I shan't resist your feminine wiles. I shall kiss your face and your lips and your neck, my beauty. I shall savour your breasts and your belly before my lips fall between your legs."

Licorne whinnied, stepping away from Galiana with shocking rapidity.

Licorne is available now.

The Red Satin Collection Reviewed in Frock Magazine (and Speculative Family Drama)

I'm pleased to announce that Regan and Maisie's holiday adventures in The Red Satin Collection have been reviewed in the March/April 2012 issue of "Frock: Your Bi-Monthly Transgender Lifestyle Magazine." (Thank you, Sally. You're the best!)
Frock is available to read online, and the current issue is free, so check it out right here: http://frockmagazine.com/frock014/ The review of my book is on pages 73-75, but it might take you a while to get that far, because the articles in Frock are all so interesting.
I've actually been thinking about The Red Satin Collection a lot lately. As Sally points out in her review, it's highly "family drama" oriented. I happen to come from a big family and there's always drama to a greater or lesser degree, so I enjoy stories of other families and their collective insanity.
But I've been thinking about something a little more specific in relation to The Red Satin Collection: Regan's reunion with her alcoholic father. It's funny when I write a character who is so clearly ME and don't even realize it. Butch Regan (hater of shopping trips, secure in her sexuality, and very much in love with her trans friend Maisie) is such a ME character I probably wouldn't have been able to write the Red Satin stories if I'd realized it at the time.
The Red Satin Collection is not based on real life events. Not at all. It's based on real people, my girlfriend and I, but the stories are speculation. The stories are "what ifs." My girl is not out with her family yet--they still think of her as a guy. After almost 4 years as a couple, we haven't spent a Christmas together. I've never cheated on her and never wanted to--and definitely not with any of her sisters.
I also never got Regan's chance at reunion with my alcoholic father. When my dad died, we'd been estranged for a dozen or so years. That was my choice. I cut ties with a heavy heart after he became increasingly abusive and manipulative toward myself and my family, stealing from us, issuing daily death threats against my mother, my siblings, and I. Restraining orders were issued, not followed. My mother installed bars on our windows because he kept breaking into our house.
It was an horrific time for our family, and when my father was eventually sentenced to 18 months in prison on unrelated charges, life finally started to improve for us. Little by little, we began to feel safe. My father wrote letters, by I never opened them. After a time, he gave up and found someone new to stalk. We discovered this after his death.
So, that was "real life," many years ago.
In "real life" today, I don't find myself speculating on the possibilities, but I always say my writing comes more from my unconscious than my conscious mind. I never ask myself questions like: What if my father had quit the bottle? What if he'd seen the error of his abusive ways and developed wisdom in the time we didn't know each other? What if he'd come back into my life with something to teach me? What if he could meet the woman I love and admire our relationship? ...at Christmas?
Maybe I'm too pragmatic or even too bitter to ask these questions, I don't know, but The Red Satin Collection (the story called Red Satin Christmas in particular) isn't afraid to play with them. Maybe writing is nothing more than cheap therapy. And maybe it's more than just therapy for the writer. I'm not saying The Red Satin Collection is a self-help book (it's trans lesbian erotic romance, actually) but I think it did help me, somehow.
I think everything I write helps me. Somehow.

Guest Post: Hot Aussie Weekend

I'm really starting to enjoy hosting other authors on my blog. Chocky bikkies, anyone? <= That's me being Australian for the day, in honour of:

Blurb
Newlyweds Jaycee and Campbell are stressed. Constantly working, trying toset up a secure future for themselves, they rarely spend time alone, enjoyingeach other's company.
So, to celebrate their first anniversary, Campbell whisks away his wife on aromantic getaway where he plans to pamper her and lure her into the ultimaterelaxed state. But what is his ulterior motive? What secret has he beenkeeping from his new wife?
Whatever it is, it's guaranteed to be a weekend full of eroticism, love, romanceand some surprises on a Hot Aussie Weekend.
Excerpt
Complying, she frowned and wondered why she'd be tempted topleasure herself. Suddenly the skin on her breasts tingled. The mounds feltswollen and tight, nipples peaking to an almost painful point. Letting out asmall cry, she looked down her body to see a wicked grin on Campbell's faceas he nipped the underside of her breast.
"What did you use?" She was suddenly breathless. "What is that stuff?"
"Arousing massage oil," he mumbled against her stomach as heworked his way down her body. His hand gently massaged her mound and, sure enough, seconds later, her pussy burned with arousal.
"Oh fuck," she groaned and threw her head back on the pillow.
Every nerve ending was on fire. Her body ached to be touched, but Campbell withdrew his hands and sat back on his knees, apparentlyadmiring his handwork. Clenching her hands into fists under her head, shelet out a moan of frustration. Her skin tingled, breasts heaved as her breathsincreased.
"Cam, please," she panted.
He didn't respond. She looked up and found him wiping his hands on awet face washer. When he leant down again, he blew gently on her mound. Itreignited the fire that burned within her.
"Please," she whined, writhing. Now she understood why he told hernot to touch herself. Right now, she was about to take matters into her ownhands.
Campbell's head disappeared from her line of vision and she closedher eyes as his fingers touched her folds. Cool air hit her heated pussy whenhe opened her, causing her clit to throb even harder than it had been. A soft, gentle stroke from his tongue pulled a guttural moan from Jaycee's mouth. She bit down on her lip and focussed on the sensations his tongue wascausing.
His tongue ceased movements and disappeared, only to return toher breasts, where he licked and sucked her to the edge of orgasm. Just bytouching her breasts. Fuck. That had never happened to her.Two fingers pressed against her entrance and Campbell pulled themup, spreading her moisture around her clit. Slow, lazy movements only madeher more aroused.
"I swear, Cam," she panted. "If you don't get on with it, I'm going topush you off the bed and finish myself off."
She caught a glimpse of his smirk just as he thrust his fingers into herpussy. Throwing her head back, she moaned at the welcome intrusion. Fuck,he knew what he was doing. His fingers curved inside her and instantly foundthat place that drove her wild. Coupled with his suckling and caressing herbreasts, she took mere seconds to come.
"Come for me, honey." Campbell murmuring in her ear sent herspiralling over the edge.

Six Sentence Sunday - Good Bi Valentine, sweet and censored

This week, 5 of my 86 ebooks listed at All Romance were taken down. A bisexual romp called Good Bi Valentine was among them. It contains no taboo topics. It's a delightfully cheesy comedy throwback about a building superintendent named Lexi who spends her Valentine's Day gettin' it on with various tenants.
Instead of showcasing the sex from this book (and there's quite a lot of it, granted), I want to present 6 sentences that typify the sweeter side of this little book. In this cute scene, Lexi is trying to decide whether she should give Dwight the Valentine she brought for him, worrying he'll read too much into it, or think she's corny or, or, or...
Six Sweet Sentences from Good Bi Valentine:
As I slipped on my cargo pants, I remembered something I'd brought along. Sliding my hand into one of the pockets, I fished out the small paper card I'd shoved in there. With Dwight's appreciation of all things retro, I figured he'd get a kick out of it. I'd found it at my mother's house when I was helping her clean out the basement. It was one of those old-school Valentines we gave out back in second grade. There was a picture of a big blue beluga and the text said, "Have a whale of a Valentine's Day."

Fortunately, as far as I'm aware, Good Bi Valentine has not been removed by any other retailer. You can find it at many other online booksellers, including the publisher's website: eXcessica http://www.excessica.com/books/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=20&products_id=527--

Guest Post: It's Obscene: PayPal, Erotica and Censorship

Words of wisdom from Brilliant Bryn Colvin, originally published on the loveyoudivine blog:

If you agree with these words, please copy them, and send them on by email, or blog them. All copyright waved (just in case you're the sort of person who wouldn't want to do anything illegal.)

So here we are, people, with a crack-down on online obscenity. By obscenity, we mean anything assumed to be for sexual titillation that somebody official finds objectionable. Both the 'sexual titillation' aspect and the 'objectionable' are totally subjective. You can bet they won't be cracking down on literature, drama, crime or horror fiction.

Now, no matter how extreme the content, fiction, by definition, is not real. No one really does any of the things in the book. No one bleeds, or dies. So assuming an offence exists, we'd be talking about a victimless crime, and a thought crime at that. If you are offended by the construction of victimless crimes and thought crimes, about freedom of speech, and about who has the right to determine who can find what sexual, you need to start paying attention to what's happening. This is also a situation in which hypocrisy is fine, and a suggestion of honesty isn't. If you can pretend that the book is instructional, or memoire, or literature or crime… then you can write all the graphic rape scenes you want. No one is gunning for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, despite the graphic violence and anal rape. But it's a crime novel, so we all know that no one reading it would get off on that kind of content, don't we? Right.

There are real people out there being raped, really raped. Those in authority would rather use their time chasing people who write about it.

There are children being abused. Apparently it's a better use of money to chase book distributors whose content might be a bit dark.

Victims of domestic abuse are beaten every day, but for some people, the things you imagine are in far more urgent need of policing.

While real victims are suffering the consequences of real crimes, it is not just ridiculous to spend time and money chasing authors and publishers, it's obscene. It's criminal.

Being raped is a horrendous experience, and the prosecution rates are very low. Being abused is life destroying. Reading about abuse and rape, can be cathartic and healing. It's a big part of why we do it. The erotica industry is dominated by female authors, female readers and female publishers. It has a lot of gay, lesbian, transgender and otherwise not-straight people taking refuge in it, finding community and expression. Erotica is a voice for real experience. We don't just tell pretty, inoffensive little love stories, we talk about life as it really is, for good and ill, what it does to you. Erotica empowers people to speak up, to understand what is good, to know the difference between consenting to something kinky and being conditioned into slavery. These are thought forms that could help thousands of abuse victims to recognise their condition, and thus be able to escape it.

The kind of people who would rather spend money policing the things that offend them, will harp on about the good old days, the upholding of family values. Ah yes, those good old days when a man could beat his wife and children, and no one would deign to notice. The good old days when there was no such thing as rape in marriage and your wife was your property. The good old days when your legally owned slaves could be killed on your say so, and your bastard children fathered on raped slave women could be left to grow up as slaves too and that was just fine. Hurrah for those old fashioned family values. Don't we long for the days when it was fine to jail people for being queer, fine to lock people up for their underclothes, back when the poor knew their place and kept to it.

First they came for the pornographers, but I did not speak up, because I was not into porn.

Porn should not be inherently offensive. Abusing people to force them into the porn industry should be offensive. Letting human beings live in such poverty and hopelessness that they feel forced to sell their bodies, should be offensive. The priorities of those in power are very, very wrong.

We know how this goes, people, we know how this works. You start with the ones who are furthest from the mainstream, and work your way back in. Porn first, dark fiction writers, then what? Who next? This is not about real crime, real offence, or real harm, this is about curtailing the rights to freedom of speech and freedom of expression. This is about making it harder to talk about the dark side of sex, rather than tackling the kind of people who actually abuse. Right now, I don't know what any of us can do about it, but we can know and witness, and try to resist. Once it is established that you can lock people up for thought crimes, we are on a very slippery slope. If the state has the right to dictate what we can think about, write about, talk about, it's power to quash dissent is absolute. Do not imagine that, just because you aren't needing to express anything dark, or hardcore, it won't affect you. Ask what comes next. Ask what we won't be allowed to talk about tomorrow. What we won't be allowed to do tomorrow.

And when they came for me, there was no one left to speak for me.

Guest Post: Finding Paradise by Abby Hayes

Finding Paradise by Abby Hayes

Days before her high school reunion, Kelly reconnects on Facebook with childhood friend, Nevaeh—a woman who, rumor has it, has lived a life straight out of some erotic novel. And, Kelly has a lot of erotica on her ereader! Ménages, slave fantasies, strangers and BDSM are all included in the stories Nevaeh has to share.

This sexy, world traveler incites Kelly to forge a friendship unlike any she's ever had before. She never knew a shopping trip could be so educational, especially in an adult store. With her head spinning and her panties damp, Kelly embarks on a crusade to reignite the passion her and her husband, Nate, once had with a few new toys and other surprises. When he surprises her by being a more than willing participant, she decides to test a few boundaries, push a few limits...

Kelly becomes determined to find out if her old neighbor is right, if
paradise can be found within your own four walls with the man you married. But, what happens when Kelly's husband finds out about all of her time spent with Nevaeh? Reviews:
"Warning: please refrain from reading Finding Paradise while in the presence of others, as frequent relief may be required. Holy smokes this book is HOT! From Nevaeh's stories to Kelly, to the women experimenting with one another in a sex shop dressing room, Finding Paradise is one book that I will be reading over and over again instead of putting in a sexy movie. Ms. Hayes has done a few remarkable things with this book: first, she's written the online chatting scenes as they would be written by any one of us, with a lot of shorthand and some "real life" cringing and questioning after typing something off the wall. Secondly, Ms. Hayes has really included something for everyone in this short story, I won't ruin the surprise by discussing the amazingly indulgent final sex scene, but let's just say my husband and I may have to have a serious talk about sex pretty soon! Both the erotic and the mundane are terrifically portrayed in Finding Paradise, and I truly hope that Ms. Hayes decides to put out a follow up book with more tantalizing and playful encounters between Kelly, Nevaeh and their husbands. For exquisite sex scenes, amazing writing and the "real talk" feel for online chat, Finding Paradise is certainly deserving of a JERR Silver Star Award. Bottom line, find your own bit of paradise and pick up Finding ParadiseASAP!" - Silver Star Award at Just Erotic Romance Reviews (5/5 Stars)Giselle Renarde

Giselle is [CENSORED]

To be honest, I really didn't think this PayPal anti-obscenity backlash would hit me. Not so soon. Maybe not at all.
But it has already. Already! Which I find so baffling because... yeah, I don't write taboo erotica. At least, I never have. At least, nothing I considered taboo, and nothing anybody considered taboo until about two weeks ago.
Last week I wrote a blog post about the impending censorship of "barely legal" titles. And you know what? Even as I wrote that post, I honestly didn't think works of mine that featured LEGAL ADULT characters in their late teens AND EARLY TWENTIES would be targeted.

Naive, naive Giselle.
Today All Romance ebooks deactivated two of my ebooks: Cunning Little Vixens and Good Bi Valentine.
Vixens is an "old" book, been on the market for probably 4 years. I guess the mention of "schoolgirls" in this work of historical fiction got somebody's dander up, even though these girls are legal adults. I think they're in their twenties, but it's been a while since I've looked over that book.
Good Bi Valentine is in its second incarnation, a previously published book just re-released a few weeks ago. It is a totally innocuous sex romp. It's a comedy! But I guess someone somewhere had some problem with it. What kind of problem? Hell, your guess is as good as mine. I have no idea why it was censored. Maybe because there are two characters in it who are college students?
Adults are... ADULTS! I said it more eloquently in last week's post, probably because I didn't have my back lodged so firmly up against the "loss of income" wall. Now I'm angry. I am. I'm angry.
And wouldn't you be? If you were [CENSORED]?
In solidarity,Giselle
