Getting font-tastic with faith!

It is a well established fact that the average Christian uses 32% more exclamation points in their emails than Atheists. It's not that we're more excitable than other people, just that once we start capitalizing He and You and other references to God we start getting a little crazy with our punctuation too!!!

That's not what I want to talk about today though. What I want to address are the 7 official rules of church fonts. Having recently experienced quite a few in my travels to promote the b...

What are the best Christian blogs?

This morning, I googled, "Best Christian Blogs." Most of the results were blogs I had never heard of. Some were blogs I could not pronounce without at least a year or two of Hebrew under my belt.

That doesn't seem right. Collide Magazine does a list once a year, but it's focused on all of media, not just blogs.

So I'm curious, what do you think are the best Christian blogs? What are the Christian blogs you find most uplifting or honest or funny or a million other things? I think it would be...

Winner of the iPad from Charlie St. Cloud

After more than 1,900 entries and a week of talking about it, the winner of the free iPad is …. (dramatic Ryan Seacrest like pause, during which you hit continue)

Hobby Lobby.

(To quote Usher, my wife is "the business." A few weeks ago she wrote her first guest post and I am currently trying to get her to start her own blog. Until that happens though, I'll continue to help her put together guest posts like this one.)

Dear Hobby Lobby,

I really don't even know where to start.

You are the bedazzled apple of my eye.

You are like a giant crock pot full of crafty goodness.

You are the Chick-fil-A of department stores.

To put it bluntly, if you were a person, you would be

Not using snopes.com or google.

Yesterday, in my excitement about a possible cage match between Justin Bieber and Harry Potter, I shared some wildly inaccurate information on Twitter.

Daniel Radcliffe, who plays Harry Potter in the movies, said that he initially thought that Bryan Adams 2.0, Justin Bieber, was a woman. In the bottom of the article I saw he said, "I think she's kind of amazing, she's really got a voice. She can really sing."

I thought that was a funny thing to say about Justin Bieber so I tweeted it. Only...

Zach Galifianakis? Muppets? OK Go? Yes, yes and yes.

The build up on this video is slow but it has everything you've ever wanted in an online video. Zach Galifianakis? Check. The Muppets? Check. The band OK Go? Check. I thought this was hilarous.

Having faith like Robert Pattinson.

If you asked me last week if I had anything in common with Twilight star Robert Pattinson, I would have said, "Yes, we're both bipeds, we have hair that borders on Conan O'Brien height levels and we're constantly harassed by lycanthropes."

That last one is a stretch, but the other night we did see a bird attack a huge bug in a mid air battle. When we looked at the bug I told my wife, "I don't want to alarm you but that looks an awful like the scarabs from the movie 'the Mummy,' starring...

The wild difference between a Mother's Day sermon and a Father's Day sermon.

Last week, I told my wife that it would be appropriate, dare I say "loving" of her to get me an iPad for Father's Day. Her response? She laughed. It wasn't a mean laugh, it was more of a giggle that seemed to say, "An iPad? That is adorable. Should I buy it with one of our offshore Cayman Islands bank accounts Lord Featherton?"

Needless to say, I did not receive an iPad for Father's Day, but I did have a great weekend … until a reader named John Harris exposed a church-flavored Father's Day...

Predicting which summer movie will be sermon illustration fodder.

The end of "Lost" has created a sermon illustration vacuum. Pastors and church members across the country are staring into the gaping maw of this sermon illustration void with concern and trepidation.

But fear not, if Braveheart, Gladiator and the Matrix taught us anything, it's that summer movies often provide the greatest sermon illustrations ever.

Let's review what our options are:

Twilight: Eclipse

One night while I was speaking, a handful of girls got up in the middle and left to go see...

Atlanta book signing, Tuesday June 22

Come hang out with not 1, not 2, not 3, but all 4 Acuffs.

That's right, the whole Acuff family will be at the Buckhead Barnes & Noble on Tuesday, June 22 at 7PM.

We will be giving away tons of Booty, God, Booty buttons and … one of the Jon Acuff cardboard cut outs, which I warn you is terrifying to come home to in a dark house.

Here is the address of the store: 2900 Peachtree Road NE Suite 310, Atlanta, GA 30305, 404-261-7747

Here's the link to learn more. Come hang out!
