The Sun Sign Spread
One of the easiest tarot and astrology readings you can try is a simple comparison between the two cards that represent your Sun sign. First, pull the Sun card from your tarot deck. Then pull the card that corresponds to its sign.
Which Major Arcana card corresponds to your Sun sign? How do the two cards—your Sun and its sign—complement or contradict each other? How do they describe your personality, individuality, and sense of self? What can you learn from your first tarot and astrology spread?
Sample Reading: Celeste's Midnight Sun

The Moon card from the Wizards Tarot

The Sun card from the Wizards Tarot
When Celeste was born on March 7, the Sun was in Pisces. That means her Sun card is paired with the Moon, the card that corresponds to the sign of Pisces.
Oddly enough, Celeste has always been a night owl. She feels most alive after dark, when the Sun sets and the Moon rises. Her emotions ebb and flow like the tide, and she cycles through life like a living lunar goddess. She even looks like a creature of the night, with pale skin and wide-set, luminous eyes.
"It's true," she exclaimed, when she saw the two cards side by side. "I am the Moon! That explains so much. I like the Sun as much as anyone, but I'd much rather live my life by moonlight."

Waite's "Second Tarot"
Here's an exciting find from Marcus Katz and Tali Goodwin — a rare and undiscovered tarot collaboration from A.E. Waite and John B. Trinick — along with information about how you can help get it published.
This is from Marcus and Tali's page at Indiegogo:
Help Us Publish A. E. Waite's "Second Tarot" Images
After extensive research, we are in a position to publish beautiful and evocative images commissioned by A. E. Waite between 1917-23 towards a second set of Tarot illustrations – but we need your help.
With your assistance we can publish a book of Tarot images which were designed by Waite a decade after his work with Pamela Colman Smith on what is now the most "popular" Tarot deck in the world – images that have been rarely seen outside a few private collectors or followers of Waite's work.
We have access & licensing agreement in principle to publish original illustrations by J. B. Trinick towards the 22 Major Arcana and one additional "path" image, and extra variant designs, sketches and Waite's own commentary on their profound significance. We would like to include as many of them as possible in a book publication.
There are costs for high quality photography and licensing. This comes to approximately £150 GBP per image (about $250 USD).
The Book
With your help, we can publish a book of high quality images, relatively quickly, prior to December 31st 2011. At present a set of cards is not possible (due to additional laminating and production costs and a higher licensing fee) so we plan on reproducing the images with explanatory text and our additional research into the lives of J. B. Trinick and others involved in the production of these glorious Tarot illustrations.
Marcus Katz will also include in the publication Waite's previously unpublished text which accompanies the images and will offer an explanation of how the images fit onto the Tree of Life in Waite's "hidden" set of correspondences.
You can also learn more at Tali's blog.

Vesta

Vesta, one of the goddess asteroids, is full of bumps and bulges — especially at her equator. I wonder if that's why I feel such an affinity for her!
From NASA: A new video from NASA's Dawn spacecraft takes us on a flyover journey above the surface of the giant asteroid Vesta. The data obtained by Dawn's framing camera, used to produce the visualizations, will help scientists determine the processes that formed Vesta's striking features. It will also help Dawn mission fans all over the world visualize this mysterious world, which is the second most massive object in the main asteroid belt.
You'll notice in the video that Vesta is not entirely lit up. There is no light in the high northern latitudes because, like Earth, Vesta has seasons. Currently it is northern winter on Vesta, and the northern polar region is in perpetual darkness. When we view Vesta's rotation from above the south pole, half is in darkness simply because half of Vesta is in daylight and half is in the darkness of night .
Another distinct feature seen in the video is a massive circular structure in the south pole region. Scientists were particularly eager to see this area close-up, since NASA's Hubble Space Telescope first detected it years ago. The circular structure, or depression, is several hundreds of miles, or kilometers, wide, with cliffs that are also several miles high. One impressive mountain in the center of the depression rises approximately 9 miles (15 kilometers) above the base of this depression, making it one of the highest elevations on all known bodies with solid surfaces in the solar system.
The collection of images, obtained when Dawn was about 1,700 miles (2,700 kilometers) above Vesta's surface, was used to determine its rotational axis and a system of latitude and longitude coordinates. One of the first tasks tackled by the Dawn science team was to determine the precise orientation of Vesta's rotation axis relative to the celestial sphere.
The zero-longitude, or prime meridian, of Vesta was defined by the science team using a tiny crater about 1,640 feet (500 meters) in diameter, which they named "Claudia," after a Roman woman during the second century B.C. Dawn's craters will be named after the vestal virgins-the priestesses of the goddess Vesta, and famous Roman women, while other features will be named for festivals and towns of that era.

Traditional Rulerships Made Simple
I've been searching and searching for a simple explanation of traditional planetary rulerships in astrology. Most of the charts I've seen are confusing, and it seems that we're expected to rely on rote memorization to master them.
This morning, it hit me: most explanations — and the charts that accompany them — are confusing because they focus on the signs. That makes the planetary placements seem random and arbitrary.
When I re-did the charts with the planets in the first column, though, the whole system started to make sense.
Would you like to see it? Here's a PDF version of the chart, along with the explanations that make sense to me.

Tarot and Astrology Reviews
Reviews are starting to come in for my latest book, Tarot and Astrology — and people seem to love it!
Here are the first three reviews from Amazon.com.
5.0 out of 5 stars Making Mysticism Seem Easy, August 30, 2011
By Amanda Hilbrecht "Tome Tamer" (Colorado)

This review is from: Tarot and Astrology: Enhance Your Readings With the Wisdom of the Zodiac (Paperback)Tarot and Astrology does an amazing thing- it explains WHY those pictures on the cards mean what they mean, which goes far towards furthering understanding of tarot cards, in clear and easy terms. Most of us realize you can read tarot just by looking at the pictures, but adding more knowledge to your base of ideas can only enhance those readings, too. If you are familiar with tarot, as I am, but new to astrology, this book does a fantastic job of taking into the realm of astrology through the back door of tarot, so I assume it also does the same if you are new to tarot but know a little something about astrology. If you are new to both, you are actually one step ahead of the game with your beginner's mind, and this book will help you get a running start with both practices.
Corrine Kenner does a very good job of taking the Golden Dawn's high and lofty ideas and bringing them down to a practical level so that they can be understood easily. I cannot even tell you what an accomplishment this is. The chapter on qabalah alone is worth the price of admission for the book, and while short, has gone far towards helping me understand it better. There is little esoteric mumbo jumbo; just clear and concise writing that cuts right to the heart of any matter.
This book is an entry level book, yet even as an advanced tarot student I gleaned much about the cards just from adding tidbits of astrology, and there is still more studying to be done! The spreads are fantastic, and if you are a fan of the Wizards Tarot, also by Corrine Kenner, you will love that this book is illustrated with those cards and you are given even further insight into the images. The book is firmly rooted in Golden Dawn tradition, though, so it is universal to most decks being published today.
This will not be the last book you ever need on the subjects, nor should you believe any book that claims it can be. Tarot, astrology, and qabalah are all deep subjects that can given a lifetime of study, but they are also subjects that offer instant rewards at every step of the journey. In addition, you will always do far better with all three by actually doing, and not just reading any book. These are experiential subjects, and this book will give you the keys to unlocking your own experience with them.

This review is from: Tarot and Astrology: Enhance Your Readings With the Wisdom of the Zodiac (Paperback)Tarot and Astrology are two disciplines that are interconnected with each other. It is often said that Tarot is an art while Astrology is a science. Astrology is closely interwoven into the tarot cards, that many people would miss it if they did not look close enough. In "Tarot and Astrology: Enhance Your Readings with the Wisdom of the Zodiac" veteran tarot author Corrine Kenner brings out the Astrology in each of the cards to gain a deeper knowledge to why mean what they mean. Astrology can be a weak spot for many tarot readers; Corrine's book is a excellent medium for tarot readers to get acquainted with the astrological associations in the tarot. Don't forget this book is also good for Astrologers wanting to better understand tarot.
Corrine uses Golden Dawn material as her source for her Astrological associates with the cards so this book can be used with just about any deck. The deck used in this book is the Wizards Tarot, which is a creation of Corrine.
Like any good Tarot book Corrine starts you off with the basics to tarot. The Building Block of the Tarot, Corrine explains what the Major Arcana and Minor Arcana cards are all about. The Elements associated with the four suites and their spheres of influence. So it is safe to say a beginner to tarot can pick this book up and not feel lost. As you progress the Majors are explained via the Sign they are associated with them. The cards are listed in Astrological order. That means The Emperor the first card you will read about, not The Fool. I personally don't like that it is not in Tarot order (Fool through The World) but this is a book that looks at tarot through Astrological eyes so I will let it slide.
Corrine throws in Mythology into the mix as well. As I was reading about Justice Corrine associated Justice with Themis (goddess of justice), which is who I associate with this card as well. Many would associate Justice with Athena; the Mythic Tarot is a deck that does this. So Corrine has some good points with me on her Greek Mythology.
Progressing me we come to the Minor Arcana to which now we see a section called "Tarot, Astrology, and Qabalah." Now Corrine is adding Qabalah, I could kiss her! Corrine breaks down and explains how each of the minor cards fits into the Tree of Life. However the Qabalah aspect is not of major focus and plays only a secondary role after the Astrology.
To illustrate how Astrology is used to understand the cards we will sample the Seven of Cups, Venus in Scorpio.
"When Venus, the benefactor, visits the third and last decan of Scorpio, she offers a tantalizing array of possibilities, including beauty, power, wealth, and happiness…..Venus, like the Empress, wants to make dreams come true. She wants to give her children every chance at success…. But Venus is the planet of romantic illusion, and her promise can't be fulfilled without effort and time…..The Golden Dawn designers of this card called Venus in Scorpio the "lord of Illusionary Success" because it hints at a tantalizing array of possibilities, but it doesn't offer any guarantees if completion. "
Informational charts are found throughout the book along with spreads. Corrine explains Astrology in depth more towards the end of the book, explain each of the houses, and end it all with Horoscope analysis via tarot.
Overall this book is extremely well done! It has to be Corrine's best work to date. Tarot and Astrology are two subjects that can fill a lifetime of study. This is not the end all on the subjects but this book is without a doubt a must have for every tarot reader and astrologer. The information in here is valuable, informative and highly useful. After reading this book tarot readers will have a better knowledge of astrology and will have improved their understanding of the cards greatly.

This review is from: Tarot and Astrology: Enhance Your Readings With the Wisdom of the Zodiac (Paperback)All tarot readers have read definitions like "Pluto in Taurus" or other astrology descriptions and wondered what exactly does that mean? Well Kenner to the rescue. Not only does she go through EACH tarot card explaining what the significance of those meanings are, but she has sample Astrology spreads, sample readings to show you in practice, meanings of the HOUSES and planets, Astrology signs, Kabbalah references and path definitions … wow.
She also separates out court cards, with a full page on each, along with the aces and majors. It's not just a book of card definitions like most tarot texts, but instead she maps out what each sign is, what the planets are, and how the interact with each other on the tarot card. And she even shows you a picture of the cards, so you can easily reference back to which she's talking about.
This is the single best tarot book I've purchased. Period. MUST HAVE. I can't believe Amazon is selling this for $11. A bank-robbery-quality steal.
Tarot has many layers of associations – numerology, Qabalah, and astrology heading the list. In "Tarot and Astrology" Kenner guides the reader through the associations between the Tarot (Major and Minor Arcana), and the signs and planets that make up astrology.
This book works in three ways – it introduces those interested in the Tarot to astrology, it introduces those interested in astrology to the Tarot, and it takes those who work with both tools to a deeper level of understanding. In working with this book, the student will be able to:
1. Read Tarot cards and interpret an astrological chart.
2. Recognize the ruling signs and planets associated with the twelve houses.
3. Pair the planets, signs, and houses with their corresponding Tarot cards.
4. Understand the astrological associations for the Minor Arcana.
5. Make connections amongst the Court Cards, Tarot suits, and the four elements.
6. Identify each card's Qabalistic associations.
7. Give insightful readings for yourself and others.
