Seize the Moment

When your book is reviewed by a teen, it’s news.

Welcome to the world of Nassem Al-Mehairi, the 14-year-old prodigy, the reviewer of Flesh (Black Heron Press, 2012).

Winner of the 2014 ROBERT WATSON LITERARY PRIZE IN FICTION

This is just in (January 27, 2014):

The Greensboro Review’s editorial board has just announced today that Khanh Ha’s short story “Heartbreak Grass” is the winner of the 2014 ROBERT WATSON LITERARY PRIZE IN FICTION.

“Heartbreak Grass” will be the featured story in Greensboro Review’s 2014 Spring Issue, a print edition that features both winners of fiction and poetry prizes. The MFA Writing Program of UNC Greensboro will host a special Robert Watson tribute at this fall’s Homecoming, the first weekend in November.

The winners of the Robert Watson Literary Prizes will be announced during the event. A $1,000 award is given for the best short story and best poem published in the Spring Issue of The Greensboro Review each year. The program receives thousands of submissions from around the world for the award, which means a great deal to writers beginning their careers. Watson began the award program, which was renamed for him in 2007.
