LUNACY released on DVD
Lunacy, the unofficial ”follow-up” to my film Sub Umbra Alarum Luna, was released on DVD on July 11th by Swedish distributor Njutafilms. It’s a beautiful release that not only contains the film but also 12 bonus films/”cine poems” that Vanessa Sinclair and I have made over the past two years.
”LUNACY is the moon-romantic follow-up to Carl Abrahamsson’s film SUB UMBRA ALARUM LUNA from 2016 (also available from Trapart). Where SUB UMBRA was a specific honouring of Derek Jarman’s IN THE SHADOW OF THE SUN (1975, with music by Throbbing Gristle 1980), LUNACY journeys deeper into the lunar energies specifically inspiring witchcraft. Vanessa Sinclair began by creating cut-ups of Abrahamsson’s writing about the moon, then made audio recordings of these, which Abrahamsson set to music, eventually becoming the soundtrack for the film LUNACY. The creative couple constructed a declaration of love for the moon as a timeless source of inspiration for poetry, beauty, witchcraft and other essential facets of life.
This film is a psychedelic trip to the moon and back, praising lunar forces and witches from all times and spaces. LUNACY acts as a conductor to emotional transcendence and illumination rather than to scientific analysis. The moon is always there in various degrees of visibility to the human eye, but the power of Hecate and other lunar celebrities remains constant. It’s the only fact that’s relevant in the greater human scheme of things.
Words by Vanessa Sinclair. Music & Film by Carl Abrahamsson. 43 minutes.
DVD BONUS MATERIAL: 12 short cinepoèmes/films made by Vanessa Sinclair and Carl Abrahamsson during 2016-2017.”

Trapart Film’s YouTube channel expands
The best things in life are free? Perhaps or perhaps not, but there’s no denying that YouTube has a great potential and also actual outreach. That’s why Trapart Film expands on YouTube. I’d much rather have people watch my films for free than make very little money now and then on VOD. So now I’ll be uploading documentaries and art films alike for your viewing pleasure. Not the most recent films – they must at least be given a chance to recoup some of the costs. But films that have been around for a year or more you’ll be able to find on the YouTube channel. There’s a lot of stuff there already. And people certainly seem to appreciate the films: The Genesis Breyer P-Orridge documentary Change Itself has been watched 1500 times in only 48 hours… Enjoy! And please feel free to spread the word/link! Thanks!

A new album/collaboration with Akoustik Timbre Frekuency
Some time ago, I sent some recorded poems/texts to sound wizard Akoustik Timbre Frekuency in the UK. We had worked before on some tracks for compilations, so I knew it’d be good. The result of our collaboration has just been released by Highbrow Lowlife, and it’s also available all over the digisphere. The album is called Heated Wanderlust And Then Some, and I’m pretty certain you’re going to enjoy it… Here’s also a first video from the album, shot by Vanessa Sinclair in New York: EXIST.

Witches, psychedelic drugs and some sadomasochistic Christianity
I have a new lecture on Vimeo On Demand! In this lecture, The Imaginary Is A Real Thing, I talk about the connections between medieval witchcraft and psychoactive substances, and about the draconian force that emanated from the Christian Church in response to this specific age-old knowledge. If the European monasteries hadn’t become more like theological universities rather than remaining mere libraries, and these environments hadn’t encouraged such a violent hate towards women, then perhaps one of the most disturbing genocides in human history could have been avoided.

The Bookworm, remixed!
I’m very happy to announce that my album The Larval Stage Of A Bookworm has been thoroughly remixed by some amazing artists, and the result is now also out and available all over the digisphere. If you want to buy and support similar projects, please get it direct from us at Highbrow Lowlife. Thank You!
”When Carl Abrahamsson’s ”The Larval Stage of a Bookworm” album was released, it was immediately hailed as a dark and experimental approach to Spoken Word poetry. Where many of the tracks did contain more traditional electronica/dark pop structures, there was of course also Abrahamsson’s ”trademark” sound of dark layers of psychic collage-scenario sounds, backing up his soulful poetry. Interest in the album soon spawned the idea of having some of Abrahamsson’s favourite artists remix the entire album, and this is what has now happened. All of the tracks have been remixed by an international elite squad of electronica, noise, and experimental artists, with the apparent favourite song ”Inside You is Outside Me” being remixed by four different artists! These are poetic, dark ambient, hard, ephemeral, emotional, aggressive, turbulent and electronic blasts straight from the underground. Listen to the original album, and then to this – or vice versa. No matter what, you’ll be tumbled through pure emotions and uncertain outcomes. Can you handle it?”
Remixes by: Knifesex, Sinnelag, A place both wonderful and strange, Per Åhlund, Mathias Lodmalm, Vanessa Sinclair, Sheer Zed, Hymnambulae, The Blue Hour, Serena Stucke, Michael Idehall, Understen, and Sun Duel. And yes, by myself too!
