Genesis Breyer P-Orridge 1950-2020

A poem for the poet

That time has come

When time moves on

Emits a brave kreator

Emits a bold narrator

Ov magics and journeys

Of loved ones now gone

The Trip… is just beginning

Just drifting

Shifting shapes

Get a new suitcase

Travel in style

All of this is possible

All of the time

Let’s never forget

The Messenger

The Message

The Process

Thee Temple

Intricate details

Intuitive twists

Curved hand

Crooked smile

Baba Mago Supreme

Calling on the spirits

To become who you are

With Sacred Intent

Undoubtedly: His name was master

Undoubtedly: Her name was master

What a blessed honor

To move on

In your mischievous company

Loyalty Does Not End With Death

You cut it up so well

“Scissors and glue, scissors and glue…”

Your sparkling super nova express

Still shines… somewhere…

And here… And now…

“In the thee morning after thee night

I fall in love with thee light”

“First I.T was

Then I.T. knew it was

And that was I.T.”

Mementeros as a Trapart Editions release

Last year saw the release of the Sinclair & Abrahamsson film “Mementeros – A turbulent thrust into a void of substance.” It’s a mind-bending super 8 extravaganza trip into a world of deep eroticism, transcending time and space and evoking all your innermost secret fantasies. Mixing vintage super 8 footage with newly shot material, the film brings a psycho-sexual impact that paralyses the rational mind and opens the floodgates of libido-drenched impulses. One considerable part of the overall “Mementeros” effect is the merging of the cut-ups of Vanessa Sinclair and the music of Carl Abrahamsson. Now their soundtrack is finally released on CD in an edition made in collaboration between Highbrow Lowlife and Trapart Editions, strictly limited to 23 copies.

The signed standard edition consists of a CD with the soundtrack, an information sheet, two reproduced collages, and four photographs of the artists. Numbers 8-23.

The signed deluxe edition consists of a box containing a CD with the soundtrack, an information sheet, two reproduced collages, and four photographs of the artists, plus one set of 13 photographs (a full miniature reproduction set of the artists’ “Mementeros” exhibition in Switzerland in 2019), plus a DVD with the “Mementeros” film. Numbers 1-7.

Please check out this extravagant edition HERE!

Please note: some of the original cut-up-collages for the Swiss exhibition are still available from Trapart: https://store.trapart.net/item/4

Please also note: this soundtrack will not be made available on any streaming or digital sales service. It will only available in this CD edition.

Hyper-oxygenized crystals of the soul

As you may or may not know, Sweden has no real mountains. But the further up north/northwest you get, at least we have ”ranges” that are great for skiing – both downhill and cross country.

At least once a year we go to Härjedalen in Jämtlandsfjällen (the Jämtland ranges) to get a well-needed dose of snow and cold. As Stockholm has seen no snow at all this season, the dose has become even more essential to our well-being. Global warming is indeed a real thing, and it’s affecting us snowflakes in an averse way – as well as everyone else.

Cross country skiing has many benefits. The overall physical exercise is one thing, of course. But as always, whenever you’re immersed in nature, you also exercise your soul. Gliding past birch forests and little islands of black shrub, encapsulated by thick, fresh snow that literally sparkles like a gazillion diamonds in the sunshine, makes you feel not only physically invigorated but also recharged spiritually. Perhaps it simply has to do with the fact that you’re working hard in nature? A kind of hyper-oxygenized atavism?

If you’re only walking or hiking, you’re going at your own pace, and that is certainly beautiful enough. But when you’re pushing on and traveling through the snow and the sweat on your brow is always very close to turning into ice, it creates a healthy proximity to something that us urban intellectuals would be tempted to call ”proto-natural” but that in actual fact is merely ”natural.” It is still what it once was, and perhaps even more so these days as we – as a contemporary ”culture” of sorts – are obviously losing touch with nature as such.

The snow itself can be blinding in many ways. But it’s also eye-opening at the same time. The similarities with deserts are obvious. The vast monotony is overwhelming and humbling. If you really get into a skiing rhythm, the combined visual and physical monotony can engender what ”desert philosophers” (like Paul Bowles) would call the ”baptism of solitude.” Even though you can occasionally meet others and share a second or two of kindred spirit recognition, you’re in a hypnotic, meditative state of mind that is as encapsulated by snow as everything and everyone else. And you’re definitely alone when realizing it.

You can stop and admire the splendid scenery, or even stop with a skiing partner and have a cup of steaming hot coffee from your thermos. But then you simply have to keep moving again. Not only to avoid getting cold in your sweaty clothes but also because your aching muscles demand to be used even more.

Just like in life in general, there is always more to see around the bend. Our amazing bodies pushing onwards in the exploration of nature liberate our over-thinking intellects by swiftly shutting them down. The intellects can be welcomed back when we’re snugly sat in cozy chairs by the cottage fireplace and we think some more about aspects of skiing and nature, and slowly realize that we want to get out there in the tracks and exhaust ourselves again.

A resemblance of an epiphanic illusion

The fictive creations eventually all become truths. If truth is to be strived for, then the best thing is to live within a world of fiction to the greatest extent possible. Let the imaginary become real by embracing yourself in new ways – ways you imagined weren’t possible but now suddenly were. Disconnect and reconnect forever until there is only a semblance of a reflection of what once was, forever more. We imagine as we foresee, and foresee as we roam further onwards into each other’s fantasies. That is also a veritable challenge, as someone else’s imagination might actually be getting closer to yours. That is one possible “ultra-truth” – the temporary merging of fictions in cataclysmic passion. When that existential fuzz-fizz evaporates, new trajectories become obvious, as two dissolve and become one plus one plus one, in an infinite possibility pasted on colourful imperatives and invectives. What remains is no longer merely a memory but actually already someone else’s truth. Go figure. Figure it out. Figure it in.

“Sacred Intent” is here

Sacred Intent gathers conversations between artist Genesis Breyer P-Orridge and longtime friend and collaborator, the Swedish author Carl Abrahamsson. From the first 1986 fanzine interview about current projects, over philosophical insights, magical workings, international travels, art theory and gender revolutions, to 2019’s thoughts on life and death in the the shadow of battling leukaemia, Sacred Intent is a unique journey in which the art of conversation blooms.

With (in)famous projects like C.O.U.M. Transmissions, Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV, Thee Temple Ov Psychick Youth (TOPY) and Pandrogeny, Breyer P-Orridge has consistently thwarted preconceived ideas and transformed disciplines such as performance art, music, collage, poetry and social criticism; always cutting up the building blocks to dismantle control structures and authority. But underneath the socially conscious and pathologically rebellious spirit, there has always been a devout respect for a holistic, spiritual, magical worldview – one of “sacred intent.”

Sacred Intent is a must read for anyone interested in contemporary art, deconstructed identity, gender evolution, and magical philosophy. The book not only celebrates an intimate friendship, but also the work and ideas of an artist who has never ceased to amaze and provoke. Also included are photographic portraits of Breyer P-Orridge taken by Carl Abrahamsson, transcripts of key lectures, and an interview with Jacqueline “Lady Jaye” Breyer P-Orridge from 2004.

Please note: this book is available for pre-ordering. It will be dispatched approximately February 22nd, 2020.

Standard Edition: 148 x 210 mm, 320 pages, perfect-bound paperback. Price: 300:- SEK.

Hard Edition: 160 x 216 mm, 320 pages, hard-bound with jacket. Limited to 77 hand-numbered copies (nos. 24-100). Price: 500:- SEK.

Psychick Edition: 160 x 216 mm, 320 pages, hard-bound with jacket. Limited to 23 hand-numbered copies (nos. 1-23). Included are also one photographic print of Breyer P-Orridge, taken by Carl Abrahamsson in 2004, and one bonus surprise mystery print. Both prints are signed by respective artists, and are in size 210 x 297 mm. Please note: The Psychick Edition is SOLD OUT.
