Good news: Johnny Wander Volume 2 will be here on Monday! They'll be going up for sale some time before that, I hope - will keep you posted. Till then we'll be here biting our nails hoping everything goes off without a hitch.

Merry Christmas Conrad('s cats)

Heyyyy, it's Conrad! Let me tell you about Conrad: He's one of the smartest guys I know! He freelanced as a programmer for a few years out of college, but most recently he's been employed by Muse Games, where he produces games like CreaVures with a small, dedicated team. Creavures is super fun and available on Steam and other platforms. Check it out!

Party time

Cricket got spayed! She's doing fine, just adjusting to her new party cone. Imagine Man in the Iron Mask, but instead it's a cat trapped in a Lady Gaga costume. She gets to take it off in 2 weeks, I think she's looking forward to it. 

A note on the store: a while ago we were offering the Dark Horse Presents featuring Callie Eats Feathers with a print - I just added an option that is just the book without the print. We'll also be adding a print of this Death and Cecilia illustration to the store later this week, so keep an eye out for that. 

I think that's all for us! It's getting closer to the end of the year, which is when the work really comes in big waves ... but we'll keep updating! See you Thursday!

I KNEW IT

I KNEW IT! I knew I didn't lose those keys! Now I have two sets of keys, check out all these keys I got. Awww yeah.

We are finishing up volume 2 (I think we've done our last round of edits of the printer) so hopefully things are on track! Some of you asked about a special edition - we'll definitely offer that! Yuko and I are going to talk and work out what exactly that is, but when we knew we'll post it right here, no worries.

We've got more work to do, actually, so once again I gotta keep it short. We'll see you next week! Have a good weekend. 

An internship opportunity at Oni Press!

Here are the inks for the cover of volume 2! We are delivering the last of the book files tomorrow, and if all goes according to plan we'll have them in time for the holidays. Will keep you posted!

A lot of you send me e-mails asking about how to get into comics, including people who aren't illustrators or writers. Here is a great opportunity: 2012 Internships at Oni Press! Here is a quick clip:

An intern interacts with every department of the company but will also choose a focus department they desire more knowledge about. These focuses are:

Editorial

-We teach you specific details about editing sequential art including comic coverage, story development, copy editing, book mapping, and proofing.

Design & Production

-We teach you specific details to the design and production of a title including technical skills, ad design, logo design, cover & spine design, and interior book design.

Sales & Marketing

-We teach you specific details to the sales and marketing of a title including generating models, convention planning, creator signings, sales analysis, and developing marketing plans.

This is a chance to get some real, substantial knowledge on the inner workings of a comics publisher, and a great opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the publishing side of comics. Here's a Tumblr post for you guys to reblog if you think your friends might be interested. I can tell you from personal experience that these guys are really nice and totally ready to put your enthusiasm to good use.

what a MUGNIFICENT collection

Ugh, that puns hurts me more than it hurts you. Oof. 

Yuko and I keep talking about cataloguing her mug collection and so that's just what's going on here. This is the tip of the mug iceberg. I think my favorite mug might be GIRL GIRL GIRL. 

Day X of working on volume 2! By which I mean I've lost track. We're getting there! And getting back to work, see you next week!

Master of Stripes

There was a period during which Yuko was into buying colors but recently it's been all greys! It's a good look on her. 

Volume 2 is coming along! It's going to be 152 pages, so bigger than the last installment. More info as it comes!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Halloween is Monday and our next update is Tuesday, so you get this early Halloween comic! That's how the candy corn crumbles (that's a joke, candy corn is made of a highly durable substance). We were in Easthampton working with/visiting pals and I guess the elevator has a light switch? So KC made our day very spooky. We stayed with Rich, who's the best host with the best cats. 

I caught whatever Yuko got after NYCC, so next week's blog updates might be a sentence long! But anyway, the important stuff: 

Still knee-deep in getting the book together. We're getting a new batch of patches in - a lot of you also expressed interest in Phoenix Down, Paleontololgy and Zoolology t-shirts. If you can specify interest in 1 or 2, I'LL SEE WHAT I CAN DO. *WINK*
