We Are Number Four...?

Four-oomerang.
And the four of us, pretending to behave:

Adult Berverage: Port Brewing Company Shark Attack Double Red Ale
"Well the blood's in the water, and the shark's gonna come.
And we swim in the dark, until our bodies are numb..."
--The Mountain Goats, "In the Craters on the Moon"
Pours deep brick red, topped with an impressive swell of frothy foam that clings to the glass like sea foam to a jetty. Slow, visible carbonation. Caramel malt and hops on the nose, makes me think of a red velvet cupcake--might make for a nice paring. Piney hops and grapefruit on the tongue, but warms to raisin bread. A bit boozy; strong, warming alcohol bite. Great balance of bitter and sweet. Creamy mouthfeel. Bitter as it rolls across the palate, but finishes sweet. Some bitter aftertaste, but overall crisp and clean. Distinct. Probably too much for some, but I found it very drinkable.

Adult Beverage: 21st Amendment Brewery Fireside Chat
Adult Beverage knocks one back with FDR tonight, sampling a Fireside Chat--in a can--from 21st Amendment Brewery. This one's a winter ale--perfect for a snow-threatening night--with spices added, so I've got the fireplace lit and vintage jazz on the radio...
Pours the same dark brown as the hardwood floors in my living room, but sits degrees darker, with a thick, frothy tan head that leaves the glass looking like a Sanskrit column. Molasses and spices on the nose; smells like gingersnap cookies. Syrup brash and bittersweet on the tongue. Slow carbonation and bitter, creeping tobacco burn. Warming, but leaves the palate wanting. Unpleasant finish--way too bitter (and yet, I feel compelled to finish it.... For Science!)
Fireside Chat is a little bit of a head-scratcher. I like bitter; this goes too far. It's an effective winter warmer, but at what cost?
Besides, FDR was a martini man.

So I'm on a CD/MP3 that came out today...
Today, I got an out-of-the-blue message (complete with ghost story) from Lob from Instagon:
"...last year.. we began a project called 23 Seconds ov Time.. its an open call audio project.. we ask contributors to send in audio submissions that are 23 seconds long [...] the final pieces are put together in one long mp3 for download and streaming [...] the 2nd Volume was released today, and has 118 contributions. [...] while i was collecting submissions for this project.. [...] i was visited by an unexpected ghost. ... A random friend in Seattle dropped me an Email and asked for my postal address, no mention of what was planned to be sent my way.. a week later a package arrived with a cassette.. and it was a copy of the original 3 track demo recording from ADRENOCHROME with the songs Crash, Lungs, & Dr. Adder...songs that I am sure neither of us have thought about in quite some time.. so.. these songs came to me around the first of the year.. which is, as you know.. the time of the year when we lost Dan. [...] And .. as i was at the time.. working on a new 23rd Current Audio project that was accepting ALL submissions that came in the mail.. i thought it only fitting to include this one as well.. so.. (sorry to make a short story an epic novel..lol) the first 23 Seconds of the track DR.ADDER by ADRENOCHROME appears on this new AIN release. it appears very very late in the cut up.. close to the end. but it is there, and i wanted to share with you the information that it is there. here is a link to check it out."
So there you have it. I'm on a CD/MP3 that came out today, screaming, "We're your friends, we're not like the others" and thumping my bass alongside Dr. Dan, circa 1994. It's mind-expanding stuff. Here's the link:
