Ebook, Paperback, or Hardcover?

Memory's Wake is available in three different formats which I wanted to show you and talk about. It's available in these formats from a heap of different online retailers but always in one of these three formats- ebook, paperback or hardcover. The Hardcover The top of the line version, a 6x9inch casewrapped (one piece cover, no dust jacket) hardcover. The hardcovers are really lovely, and have the best print quality throughout. Great for someone looking for a sturdy collectors piece, this version shows the interior illustrations the best. The hardcover at the moment is available ONLY from it's printing source lulu.com. I would have loved to order stock and sell it directly so I could offer them signed, but to keep them affordable it just didn't work out that way. Just shipping them out to me first doubles their price. The Paperback The paperback version is the real jack-of-all-trades. It's reasonably priced, and available from lots of different places, so you can shop where ever is easiest for you! The paperback is also 6×9 inches (a standard large paperback size) and beautifully printed on cream paper. I generally prefer to do my reading in paperback format because I abuse my books a bit (dog-earring pages, bending spines etc). But I also personally love a book that looks and feels well read, which is what paperbacks give me. Apart from direct from myself and my Fairies and Fantasy store, you can also get the paperback version from- Amazon CreateSpace (printing source) Rage in Eden (UK Store) Barnes and Noble (currently the cheapest option) Both the paperback and hardcover versions have exactly the same content inside, and are both illustrated. There are 44 illustrations total throughout the book. When you get your copy, you're going to be tempted to flick through the book and look at all the pictures. But avoid it if you can, there are spoilers in some of the pictures!  Ok, you can if you want, but don't say I didn't warn you. I did try and keep the illustrations without too many spoilers, but really there were some things I couldn't avoid without, well, not drawing them at all. Take a flick through the interior of the paperback and hardcover versions by clicking "Read Free Sample" on the left. The Ebook The final version, which does not include the illustrations, is the ebook. I considered trying to include the illustrations in the ebook version, but felt that the format wouldn't show them properly. The ebook is a great way though for people to get reading right away if, like me, they are very impatient. I used to be one of those people who said I'd never choose ebooks over holding a real paper book in my hand, but I've become a bit addicted to ebooks now. I read on my iphone mostly (shown on left). Ebooks are great because they are cheap and INSTANT. If you've got a smart phone, tablet, or any computer, you can download Kindle for...

New Launch Schedule & FAQ Requests

While I was writing up the terms for my Massive Book Launch Prize Draw Competition, I realised I needed to give people more time to get my book and get involved in the event, so I extended "launch week" to "launch fortnight". I had a neat 7 day plan of events and posts for Launch week, which only this morning did I realise I needed to edit due to the new longer launch! So much for the best laid plans of mice and men, hey? The good news is, there's a whole heap of extra content I'll be releasing over the next two weeks. Here's the current schedule, which may also go awry, but I'll do my best to stick to it. Saturday 16th – Make Memory's Wake available and announce competitions Sunday 17th – Let's write an FAQ- Questions. Monday 18th – Ebook, Paperback, or Hardcover? Version comparison Tuesday 19th – Video of me talking about the story Wednesday 20th – Let's write an FAQ- Answers Thursday 21st – Artwork release Friday 22nd – Free Downloads (Wallpapers, etc) Saturday 23rd – Launch update, competition update Sunday 24th – 1st draft vs final draft comparison Monday 25th – Memory's Wake Merchandise store reveal Tuesday 26th – Unused and Old art reveal Wednesday 27th – My favourite Memory's Wake Quotes Thursday 28th – A map of Avall Friday 29th – Launch wrap up Saturday 30th- Competition drawings Let's Write an FAQ- Question Time So today on the schedule I wanted to post a request for questions about Memory's Wake. For those who've read the book, I'll be hosting a spoiler-full Q&A session in a couple of weeks, so for now just spoiler-free questions you might have about how the book was written, how it's available, what it's about and so on. I'll pick as many of the questions as I can and write up the answers for a new FAQ post on Wednesday. Some questions I'm already planning to answer- What audience is the book recommended for? What are the plans for the trilogy and can Memory's Wake be read on it's own? What questions do you have?

Official Launch Date and Launch Week Schedule

The books have arrived! Which basically means one big thing- It's book launch time! Thunderbirds are go! Memory's Wake will be officially launched this Saturday the 16th (Aussie time, which means more like the 15th for some of you!) The most exciting part of the whole thing is to finally be sharing my story with you all. The excitement is now overtaking the fear, and I'm feeling very positive about the whole thing (my first 5 star review from an unaffiliated book reviewer has helped a lot! http://seeingnight.blogspot.com/2011/...). Even the two proof copies I had thought missing in the mail finally showed up. Everything is right and ready to go. And I've got a whole bunch of fun things planned for a week long launch promotion! Starting, of course, with making the book available through all sales channels, the book will be available at a reduced price during launch week, then return to it's standard pricing after the 23rd. I'm going to post a video or two of me talking about the book and showing what the paperback and hardcover books look like in real life. AWESOME competitions! I've been hoarding stockpiles of Memory's Wake merch, putting together some brilliant prize packs. If my book launch goes well, I'll also be giving away an Amazon Kindle eReader at the end of the week! More art from the book to be released. Want a t-shirt just like Memory's? The Memory's Wake merchandise store will be unveiled. A free downloads gallery added to the site. It's a shame champagne is off the menu at the moment  I hope you'll all still come and party with me for the Memory's Wake Book Launch Week! How else should we celebrate?

Competition- Win Free Ebooks *closed*

The release of Memory's Wake is fast approaching. Learning from the recent item-lost-in-the-mail delay, I'm not going to give a firm release date until the books are in my hands, but at this stage I'm expecting to launch the book officially in just two weeks time! As soon as the copies arrive, I will make an announcement for the official launch time and date, which will be just days from that point. Not much longer now, my pretties… Just can't wait? I'm going to give a few people the chance to start reading early! Leading up to the launch, I'm going to give away five copies of the ebook. How to Enter Show Memory's Wake some love, and leave comments around the Memory's Wake site. You can comment on this post, or any page or post on the memoryswake.com domain. Ask questions, give opinions, go crazy- the more you comment, the more chance you have to win. You get one ticket in the draw for every comment you leave at the www.memoryswake.com domain between the competition start and closing date and time. You could leave a comment on every page, ask questions, and when I reply, you can reply again and get another ticket in the draw. BUT- the comments must be actual comments. I'm not talking about strict content or word count limits, just actual comments rather than random words or spammy posts. But you guys know that of course! Prizes Five winners will receive a free copy of the Memory's Wake ebook. Prizes will be in the form of a coupon for free download of the ebook in the winners chosen format (for Kindles or Nooks, or other options like PDF or read on screen for those without e-readers). The coupon will be delivered at the end of the competition to the email address provided with your comment, at least a full week before the official launch. Draw Date The competition will end, and winners will be announced on Saturday 9th July, 10am Sydney time. Terms The winner will be selected with the help of Random.org.  Winner selection is final and at Selina's discretion. Entrants may only win once, and may not receive multiple prizes. WINNERS! Congratulations to Misti, Kristina, Becky, Tammy and Sasha. You've all won a free ebook coupon for Memory's Wake! Details will be emailed to you privately.

Memory's Wake- Chapter 3

Chapter Three of Memory's Wake, from the point of view of the forest man. Chapter Three is the last free sample chapter to be released to the public, with Chapter Four also available to newsletter subscribers only. Chapter Three She had looked at him as if he were some kind of animal. Worse. A monster. The terror in her eyes crushed his heart, as though the rockslide that closed the cave entrance had also fallen on it. He had waited for her for so long. He ran the moment he heard the noise, that same gusting howl he remembered from his first night in this world, coming from the very same spot. The night he would never forget. Just how long had it been? The years felt longer for being unable to count them, but shorter for his time spent with the fae. So long, lost in that forest, doubting he'd ever see her again, that his memories of her were even real. But here she was, looking just the same. Same age, same hair, same clothes, even the same bruises as the day he had lost her. He no longer doubted. The dust from the rockslide cleared and the hunting men who had chased the girls still surrounded him. Them and the dragon. It circled above, waiting for something. To give the men their next order? He shifted his eyes upwards uneasily. He'd never seen a dragon before. They were legendary, even to the fae he knew, and scarce. The men coughed and swore, wiping dirt from their eyes. They looked at him, wondering how he fitted into their chase, turning to their leader for guidance. He'd been mistaken as an animal by hunters before. He didn't like hunters. A growl rumbled from his throat.
