To celebrate the upcoming release of Icon of the Indecisive, I asked some readers for their thoughts on the Interim Goddess of Love series.

DISCLAIMER: I can be foul-mouthed sometimes.
When I first heard about Interim Goddess of Love, I didn't believe in its premise. I'm a fan of Greek and Roman myth but I don't know

Author at Once (High School), April 20
Where I'll be this weekend:

It's our writing/publishing workshop, but this time for young writers. We specifically invited high school students, but we're actually going to have a few from college (and even grade school!). Which is great, and we welcome them. What we want to do is answer questions young writers may have about their options, their possible future in

Featured Reader: Charmie Saligumba
To celebrate the upcoming release of Icon of the Indecisive, I asked some readers for their thoughts on the Interim Goddess of Love series.
I've chosen Charmie Saligumba (@chamiepop on Twitter) as the first featured reader. Not because she sent her thoughts first (there will be a future post on who made the first five) but because she actually lives in Bacolod/Negros Occidental and thus had

Why the short novel
All my published novellas are between 25,000 to 35,000 words. If you look at most how-to pages for novels and what word count will get you published, you likely won't see that number, because US publishers traditionally don't invest in the novella as a format. Why write a novella anyway?
Publishing is different in the Philippines. The reason why all my books are novellas? Because they were

The (new) Filipinas Heritage Library
This week I got to attend a special preview of the Filipinas Heritage Library, re-opening as a new section of the Ayala Museum.
FHL holds a special place in my heart, as some of you know. I was married in its old location, which itself used to be an air traffic control tower, and the idea of a wedding in a place with a history of travel and books just felt right.
But this week, FHL

Contemporary Romance Class: What's romantic?
Update: 99 have signed up, over 50 submitted a novella pitch, and about 30 sent in their outlines.
We had another meetup for Contemporary Romance Class yesterday, and we talked about romantic scenes. I asked everyone to share what they liked about romantic scenes/novels/movies, and here was the gist of their answers:
- LOVE bickering, bantering couples
- HATE bickering, bantering couples

Interviewed by Lottie Eve, and a few questions for her
Book blogger Lottie Eve recently interviewed me, and it's now up on her blog. Go check it out!
One of the things I enjoy about reading reviews of my books is seeing which parts the reviewer chooses to mention. I can't predict what a reader will single out as memorable. And I actually want to know how a reader discovered my books. So I actually asked Lottie Eve! Thank you so much for answering!

Maybe you have the answers: Book marketing and promotion in the Philippines
A few months ago I met Miriam College Communication Arts students Julhean Divinagracia, Moira Estrada, and Meredith Marcelo (and their friend Bea). We talked for a bit about books and publishing and writing, and yesterday they sent me a copy of the school project that came about from it. It's called "Books in Action: A Production Thesis on the Effectiveness of Book Trailers in Promoting Local

Another take on the Interim Goddess
FEU Fine Arts student Richard Cy created and designed an illustrated edition of Interim Goddess of Love for his thesis. Here's a sneak peek.
It's beautiful. :) Not for sale, but beautiful. His Twitter is @richardjaracy if you want to contact him about his art.

Some pie, the chart kind
Queen of the Clueless the ebook has been out for a little over 20 days, and it's been downloaded over 1,700 times. That number includes discounted, borrowed, free and full price versions. So far it's only available on Amazon (more retailers soon!) but I just wanted to share the breakdown of which Amazon country stores grabbed the most copies.
No surprise that Amazon.com got the biggest share (
