True Crime Book bursting with evils wrought by greed!

Barbara Forte Abate (Author)
"Fighting the Devil" is A Thoroughly Riveting and Unforgettable Read*****FIVE STARSPrepare yourself for a harrowing ride, because "Fighting the Devil" by Jeannie Walker picks up the reader in the very first pages and doesn't let go, even once the final page is turned.
While this incredible true crime story is full to bursting with the evils wrought by greed, at the very center of this story, the reader finds a true hero in author Jeannie Walker: A woman of unshakable faith and determination, committed to shining a glaring light on the true circumstances of her ex-husbands horrific murder, thus pursuing the job that the Justice system fails to.
There is a certain honestly in this story that unquestionably required enormous stores of courage, and yet Jeannie doesn't shrink away from detailing facts and elements essential to the telling of these thoroughly shocking events. Was Jerry Sternadel a man of questionable character? It's likely the reader will think so. But while he isn't especially likable, no one is ever deserving of such a cruel and horrific death. Herself a survivor of her ex-husbands cruelty, Jeannie Walker has every reason to walk away and claim something of peace in her own life, and yet she doesn't. Jeannie has made it her mission to bring justice where there is guilt. Truth, where there have only ever been lies. Her mission is extraordinary, but then, so is she. This is one of those "can't put it down until the very last period on the very last page, books. A thoroughly riveting and unforgettable read.

Non-Fiction True Crime Story

If you like non-fiction, true crime stories, you should try this one. It's a book that won't let you put it down.
Every now and then I feel the need to read a book based on reality. Non-fiction if you like, though my head tells me non-fiction has more to do with text books, exams and sleepless nights. But what do I know? Anyway, like I said, sometimes I need to read something autobiographical.
I have to say, Fighting the Devil wasn't what I expected. I was expecting suspense, drama, some really intense moments, maybe a little scary scenes. What I didn't expect was to be so emotional while I was reading. From sadness to anger, love, hate, fear, pity, revolted, I felt them all. I wasn't expecting that or the fact that I couldn't put it down.
The story is, I think, one of the saddest I've read this year. It's even sadder because it's true. I am amazed by some people's greed, cruelty and their lack of compassion and conscience. It's something that to me is extremely disturbing sometimes. Of course, I have read about murder cases, so it's not exactly news to me, but it is still a little weird and sad. 5 Stars-Rating shows the impact this book had on me

C.D. Sutherland -Author & Avid Reader*****Five Stars My general opinion on 5-star ratings revolve around the impact the book has on me. If I continue to think about a book after the cover is closed, it is a contender. If I use what I've read to examine my own life, then there's no question about it.
Fighting The Devil tells the real story of Jeannie Walker's struggle with a man, who really didn't deserve her. The concept of "times were different then" doesn't excuse the things he did. For some reason, she stuck with him longer than anyone would have expected her to. Surprisingly, his bad decision put him in the snares of people who wanted him dead. After the dirty dead was done, Jeannie Walker rises to the task of solving the murder.
This story is real, so unlike novels, it doesn't really end. The reader is left with concern over a flawed system of justice. Additionally, the spiritual warfare described by Jeannie Walker may be too intense for some readers to grasp. Spiritual warfare exceeds our physical perceptions, nevertheless in telling the story, the author has to try to explain them in physical terms. We all live in the physical world. Even John's description of what he "saw" in the Book of Revelation gives most readers pause in trying to grasp the events nearly 2000 years later.
My prayers go out to Jeannie Walker as she is still living this story.

GIVEAWAY AND VISIT WITH AWARD-WINNING AUTHOR -JEANNIE WALKER

Welcome to My Book Addiction and More…
MBA&M: Give our readers some insights into Jeannie Walker, please?
Walker: Most of the reading and writing I did was in school. Growing up on a farm didn’t leave a lot of time for anything else except tending to farm animals. Any spare time I got, I spent outside sitting under a big oak tree enjoying nature and reading a good book. A master writer once told me, “If you want to become a good author, reading a lot of books will help you become a good writer.”
MBA&M: Where did the idea of “FIGHTING THE DEVIL” come from?
Walker: It came from a real-life scenario with the arsenic poisoning murder of my ex-husband and the pursuit of justice to find his killers.
MBA&M: What character is your favorite in “FIGHTING THE DEVIL”?Why?
Walker: Sheriff Jake Bogard is my favorite – He was a very colorful person, but also a very devoted lawman and a real-life Marshall Dillon. The Sheriff reminded me of the lawmen of long ago; like Wyatt Earp and Marshall Matt Dillon of the TV show GUNSMOKE, who would jump on their horses and chase down the bad guys. Sheriff Bogard’s deputy was also a real-life “Festus”. I dedicated my book to Sheriff Jake Bogard. He passed away before seeing any justice in the murder case.
MBA&M: I understand “FIGHTING THE DEVIL” is a true story, how hard was it write this amazing story?
Walker: It was incredibly hard to write. Writing it brought back a lot of bad memories and the injustice that oft times happens in the Criminal Justice System.
MBA&M: In telling your story to another crime victim of how you fought for justice what would be the first thing you would advise them to do?

Walker: Don’t give up! It is my hope that anyone who reads my book will come to the realization that they are not alone in their struggles, no matter how big or small. And that they have the ability to overcome and the right to become their loved one’s advocate, and if necessary to become their own, real-life Sherlock Holmes.

Five Star True Story

C.L.R. Dougherty    Author5 STARS for "Fighting the Devil"This is the true story of one woman's determination to see justice done. Jeannie Walker was appalled by the poisoning death of her ex-husband, and she was frustrated by the slow pace of the official investigation, so she committed herself to the struggle to see right prevail.
Ms. Walker takes us through the intricacies and shortcomings of due process in a criminal investigation, with the addition of a healthy dose of local color, and a few flashes of spiritualism. Of necessity, a true-crime story requires the presentation of a fair amount of dry, factual information, but she keeps it interesting by sketching the personalities involved, along with their individual biases and motivations. Further, she shares the devastation visited upon the survivors, who were victims themselves.
She tells her story in a spare, well-written style. Her unassuming approach is engaging, and her command of grammar and punctuation, flawless. She presents herself and her faith that good will prevail over evil in a forthright manner that can't be denied, no matter whether you share her spiritual beliefs; when she touches on religion, she's leading by example, not asking you to follow, but showing you how it works for her.
Fighting the Devil is well worth reading, and, in spite of the grim subject, an upbeat book. It's a refreshing change from a diet of fiction and self-improvement. Read it. You won't regret it.

Five Star Book & My deepest respect for the author

Raani York  "Fighting the Devil"***** Five Stars and My deepest respect for the Author! When I started reading this book I did prepare for some kind of "report" of a true murder case.
This story actually IS "some kind of" report - but filled in with emotions - with passion for the truth - with true devotion of a woman fighting to find the true murderer of her former husband. After Jerry Sternadel was divorced from his former wife (the author of the book) he got re-married. His Ex-wife lived far away - they did keep contact since having two children together, a daughter, Becky, and a son, Sandy. It's a dark day when Jeannie learns her ex-husband died in the hospital - and it got even darker when she was informed he had died from poison...From that moment on Jeannie Walker begins to fight - fight for the rights of her passed away husband, fight for justice, fight for her children - and sometimes, fight for her life!In many ways I do admire this passion for justice and truth! And it's not over yet.“Fighting the Devil” is an emotional and strong report and I think nobody will be disappointed by reading this true story.

This is an incredibly true and horrifying story. I do not want to go into detail, as I hope everyone reads this book. It is a fantastic book, and Jeannie Walker did a marvelous job getting this story out there. I can only hope that justice will prevail, one day, to all that were involved. There were times in this book, I just could not believe what really happened! I believe that KARMA will always return to those that do unto others, for good or bad.I recommend that everyone read this book… it will give you a different perspective on life!!!

Five Stars for "Fighting the Devil"

Elenore Cerecerez  - Avid Book Reader
***** Five Stars for "Fighting the Devil"I absolutely loved the book, "Fighting the Devil". It made me feel the author's emotions, the good, the bad, the ugly,  AND her faith in God.
I went to the book signing in Wichita Falls, Texas to get an autographed copy of "Fighting the Devil". I absolutely loved the book. I think Jeannie Walker is amazing.
I have read it more than once. I just finished re-reading it... Each time I read it ...my heart breaks even more for the author and her family.  I pray that the black widow, Lou Ann, will one day be brought to justice! I dreamed about the millionaire rancher, Jerry Sternadel, last night, maybe because all of my free time (between my 5 year old daughter and brand new adopted 14 month old son), has been spent reading and re-reading this amazing book. I want to thank Jeannie Walker so very much for sharing her heartbreaking story.
