This and the next few pages took a long time to draw. People tell me I over-work my drawings, but the impulse is hard-wired. Also, I tooled with the logo a bit today. I used a font I scanned from a Dover Edition of Art-Nouveau Alphabets. I think it looks more interesting than the fonts I find in my computer and online.

MULTIPLE PAGE UPDATEAt the time, when I drew this sequence in 1999, I thought this approach would have some kind of dramatic impact. Actually, it's rather boring and doesn't work at all. It was an unfortunate decision to leave it in the book, but I feel it's unextractable now.
