The Stonegate Sword: (Stonegate #1)

But tales still tell of marvels from long ago-flying machines and devices run by the power of lightning. Now grass grows in the streets and rusted hulks are all that remain of the proud machines. A new time of troubles now threatens. The free towns of the rugged mountains and plains are in the path of conquest. The Prophet's armies are coming, filled with hatred and armed with terrible, rediscovered weapons. Donald of Fisher, outcast and alone, is in the path of the march, searching for Rachel, who has been captured by the Raiders-minions of the Prophet. But how can he find and rescue one small captive in a wilderness teeming with enemies? And even if he succeeds, should he wield his sword beside the tiny band of defenders? Is Donald to become yet another victim, or is he, just possibly, the deliverer promised in prophecy? What can one person do in the face of a war that will shape the future of a continent?

Interview with Aimée Marie Bejarano
Where did you grow up, and how did this influence your writing?I grew up in California until I turned 14 then we moved to Texas. I actually don't think it did anything for my writing lol.
When did you first start writing?I first began my writing journey when I was 16. I was homeschooled at that time, and I was given an assignment. I had to write a one page creative writing story. Well, I have no idea how anyone can write a story, even a short story in one page, so I did what I could. And funny enough, that was to write part of the story and then leave it hanging. When I handed it to my mom to check she flipped over the page, blank lol. "Where's the rest of the story?" I said, "The assignment in my book said one page and to have you check it." "But it's really good!" Then she handed it to my big sister- this would have been the point where I bite my nails down to the nubs lol. The apple certainly doesn't fall far from the tree because she did exactly what my mom just did asking where the rest was. I explained that I did have more to the story but I didn't write it down. They encouraged me and from that day I knew I was supposed to write. And I diligently did. Switched from stories to drama scripts, to stories again lol. What's the story behind your latest book?Ah the latest book and the story behind it. It's entitled, "My Name Is Not Saul" and it's part two of the Angelica Series. It is about the Apostle Paul from the book of Acts in the Bible. It's the journey as recorded of Saul of Tarsus, later the Apostle Paul. Of course it's historical fiction but I follow the story line of scripture closely. What motivated you to become an indie author?Simply put, I was exhausted of wasted hours, days, weeks, months on submission guidelines and outlines to submit to literary agents and publishing houses. I recall spending almost all on one. I was so very proud of it, it was a winner only to send the email and literary- I'm not kidding here- the agent emailed me back in about 60 seconds rejecting it. Well, I knew he didn't read it all considering his hefty guidelines he had on his website. I was done. How has Smashwords contributed to your success?Smashwords has indeed helped with reaching more readers through the Smashwords outlet. I'm thankful for that. What do your fans mean to you?Fans are readers, and they mean the world to me. Even if they get the novel and don't care for the book as much as I'd hoped, I still am blessed. It's like coming home from church and changing out of your church clothes and throwing on comfortable clothes or your pajamas.- Okay, okay, maybe not like that but BETTER! What are you working on next?Currently, I'm working on a "how to" book dealing with chronic pain. It's very near and dear to my heart because I suffer from several diseases and ailments and I live every moment of every day in pain.
I'm also working on a new paranormal novel which is based on a vivid dream I had a couple years ago.

5 STARS! "Grace Rodriguez and her four children had the bad luck of moving into the wrong house. THE GATEWAY is a paranormal thriller that grabbed me early on and had me reading with interest late into the night." - Frank Scozzari
Something sinister and reeking of sulfur enters the home of single mother, Grace Rodriguez. It enters through a portal...a gateway. It kidnaps her eldest son taking him into its dimension...gone!
Meanwhile, a popular journalist, Aiden Jenson, is beginning a new assignment, and he will clash worlds with this malevolent creature to get the story.
As Aiden investigates, there's one thing he wasn't expecting being around a family. He's beginning to care for more than just his impending deadline.
When all of Grace's children are stolen, she and Aiden know they have but one chance and one chance only. The only way to save the children or have them forever lost in the creature's dimension, is to enter....the GATEWAY.
It's a nail biting, paranormal, supernatural, horror, and thriller that will send chills up your spine and make the hairs on the back your neck stand up.
Will they make it out alive or will they be lost forever?
(Keep in mind readers that this novel has been redone and in 2nd Edition on November 2017. If you have a kindle that was purchased before this time, you will have an unedited version and must update the book. Thank you!

~Interview with Victoria J Benchley~
Tell us about the book:
The Pernicious Pachyderm is the seventh novel in the Duncan Dewar Mystery Series, yet the book is still a stand-alone. Throughout the stories, characters and relationships develop while mysteries are solved. The action takes place in and around the fictional village of Taye, in Perthshire. The reader will find many similarities between Taye and this real-life area of beautiful central Scotland. This is the same location where the series began with The Merlon Murders - Book 1. A few months have passed since Angela nearly lost her life, and the experience affects her engagement.
Now, a boutique circus has arrived in Taye, and tourism is on the rise, but so is murder. Preparing for his upcoming nuptials and refurbishing his cottage aren't enough to keep Duncan occupied. A gruesome crime intrudes on the idyllic village, and as the detective becomes embroiled in the murky case, a specter from the past returns, threatening his happy ending. Can Duncan absolve an elephant accused of killing his ringmaster? Can he find the real murderer before he or she strikes again? Will a jealous spirit from ancient Clan Neish hinder the Scotsman's wedding and harm his fiancée? Suspects abound as Dewar returns, joined by the usual cast of family and friends and several newcomers in his latest mystery.
Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
I became interested in writing at a very young age. I used to make up stories to entertain myself. In addition, during my childhood, my mother kept us amused with her own seasonal tales at bedtime. When I had my own children, she wrote short yarns featuring their alter egos. I have been surrounded by storytelling my entire life.
What does your writing process look like?
Usually, a detailed scene forms in my mind out of the blue. From that, I build the story as the characters take over and sort of do their own thing. Research gets thrown in along the way. At some point in the process, I have to outline the remaining portion of the book to keep everything on track.
If you could cast your characters in the Hollywood adaptation of your book, who would play your characters?
For the Dewar brothers, I'd cast a young Jason Riddington as Duncan, Henry Cavill as Angus, Eddie Redmayne as Harold, and Alex Pettyfer as William. Lily Collins would make a wonderful Angela, Duncan's love interest, while Emma Stone or Isla Fisher fit the role of Skye. I would love to see Anthony Hopkins as Donald Merriwether, proprietor of the Blue Bell Inn. Kit Harington would make a smashing Chief Inspector Wallace. James Norton, no stranger to playing a vicar, might fill the role of Redmond Hayes very well. Child actor, Shivansh Kotia, could be the ideal Ravi Patel, and I see English character actress Elizabeth Spriggs as Sidney Taylor.
Who was your favorite character in The Pernicious Pachyderm?
I think my favorite is newcomer Sidney Taylor. While mentioned in The Christmas Contest, she makes her first personal appearance in The Pernicious Pachyderm. She's a tenacious widow with a unique way of communicating and I had loads of fun developing the character and her dialogue.
What are you working on now? What is your next project?
I am currently working on a new mystery series. These novels will be quite different from the Dewar books, but hopefully, they'll be just as enjoyable, with many memorable characters. Duncan will return after a well-deserved vacation!

Where Shadows Fall: (Rangers of Laerean, #2)

Struggling to survive the deepest of betrayals, the Rangers face a dark and foreboding time, as the world of Hir changes dramatically around them.

Early in life, Tom Fallwell discovered a love for fantasy and science-fiction, delighting in the wonderful escape into realms undreamed of. Weaned on the greats like J.R.R. Tolkien, Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, Arthur C. Clarke, Robert E. Howard, Roger Zelazny, Robert A. Heinlein, and Michael Moorcock, just to name a few, Tom's imagination was forever inspired by those marvelous tales. One day, he discovered a simple book of rules called 'Chainmail', by Gary Gygax, and found a new love: the love of creating adventures and stories of his own. 'Chainmail' evolved into 'Dungeons & Dragons', and Tom played consistently with friends as both a player and a dungeon master (DM) for decades. Such activities helped him develop his ability to create worlds and stories for other players to enjoy.
Now retired from his long career as a software developer, Tom writes all the adventures and characters that constantly fill his mind and shares them with the world.
