Check out the Bernovem Chronicles.

Looking for a wholesome action fantasy adventure for yourself or a loved one. Perhaps as a Christmas gift for your children. Then check out the Bernovem Chronicles. This is book 2: 'The Shard.' In the same genre as Chronicles of Narnia.
Kid's absolutely love this tale with Dwarfs, gnomes, fairies, talking animals, and an evil queen – all these and more can be found in The Warble, an enchanting tale of adventure and friendship.
~~~ The Shard, Victoria Simcox’s fast-paced, intricately woven sequel to The Warble, takes Kristina Kingsly and her schoolmates back to Bernovem … and into a thrilling, often dangerous adventure.
Kristina’s stay at summer horse camp is horrible to say the least, and it’s all because Hester and Davina are there as well, making her life miserable. When Hester’s cruel prank goes terribly wrong, it’s actually what sends the three girls back to the magical land of Bernovem. In Bernovem, Kristina is very excited to see her former friend, Prince Werrien. When he invites her to sail with him on his ship to his homeland Tezerel, putting it simply, Kristina can’t refuse.
Reunited with her gnome, dwarf, animal, fairy friends … and best of all, Werrien, things seem like they couldn’t get any better for Kristina. But when Werrien becomes fascinated with an unusual seeing stone, the “Black Shard”, Kristina is haunted by a ghostlike old hag. Struggling against suspicion, guilt, illness, and ultimately the one who wants to possess her soul, Kristina will see it’s in her weakest moment that she will encounter more strength than she has ever known.
 Review: Kristina is returning to the magical land of Bernovem in “The Shard (The Bernovem Chronicles Book 2).” A few years have passed since the events of “The Warble (The Bernovem Chronicles Book 1).” Kristina doubts her memories of her experiences in Bernovem a few years earlier. Joined by Hester and Davina, she is transported back to Bernovem where she is reunited with Prince Werrien.
Victoria Simcox’s style of writing is reminiscent of J.K. Rowling, but her voice and the saga she gives voice to are all her own. She gives each character their own unique stamp, their own identity. Kristina is full of wonder. Hester and Davina are mischievous, but each are mischievous in their own, unique way. Prince Werrien is, of course, the charmer.
Bernovem is a colorful, vibrant land filled with talking animals, gnomes and fairies. Wonders abound in this magical land. One never knows what is waiting just around the bend.
Whether a child or a child at heart, this series of fantasy tales will win you over!
Excerpt
A young man appeared amidst the trees. Kristina’s brow creased. “Who...are you?”
“Come on―has it really been that long?” He cracked a familiar smile.
Kristina’s body flooded with nerves. It can’t be? Her heart began to pound. He was taller, more muscular, his voice was deeper―and he was more handsome than she could ever have imagined. “Werrien?” She was about to run and embrace him, but Hester caught her attention. “It’s my entire fault,” Hester whimpered.Kristina spun around to face Hester. “What’s your entire fault?” “I put prickly burrs under your horse’s saddle.” “I had nothing to do with it,” another voice said, coming from behind a tree.“Oh, fur the love of haggis, not the other one as well.” Mr. Macgregor walked quickly over to the tree where he’d heard the voice.Kristina glared at Hester. “You put burrs under my saddle so that the mare would act up? I was right all along; you letting me ride that horse was too good to be true.”“I wanted to see if you could handle her when she got agitated,” Hester said in a small voice.Davina stepped out from behind the tree where she’d been hiding, fell to her knees and clasped her hands above her head. “Oh, please, God, don’t send me to hell. I’ll try to be a better person. I promise!” she lamented.Mr. Macgregor sighed. “Stand up, lassie―yoo’re not dead.” Davina opened one eye. “But you are, so that means we all must be as well.”Kristina and Werrien caught themselves staring at each other, both in awe at how the other had matured since the last time they were together.
“Um, about that…” Werrien was interrupted by branches snapping. He turned to see Hester and Davina sneaking off into the woods. He smiled artfully, withdrew his knife from its sheath, and whirled it toward the tree, ahead of them, where it hit and stuck in the trunk just above their heads. Both Davina and Hester raised their arms and dropped to their knees.
“He’s trying to kill us,” Davina blubbered. “He can’t kill us―we’re already dead,” Hester hissed.Werrien rolled his eyes. “Believe me, if I wanted to kill you, I would’ve done so.” Hester and Davina stood up.Hester wiped dirt from her pants. “I need to go look for the horses.”“That won’t be necessary,” Werrien said.“What do you mean, ‘won’t be necessary’? I’m going to catch heck if my parents find out they’re loose somewhere in these enormous woods.”“You can search all you want, but you’re not going to find them.” Hester’s eyes shot up. “What do you know?” Davina murmured in Hester’s ear, “Isn’t he trespassing on your property?”Hester’s eyes turned into slits, and her lips pursed. “You’re not only going to be arrested for attempted murder but trespassing as well.” Werrien chuckled. “I hate to burst your bubble, but this is my property.” “Uh huh. If this is your property, what’s beyond those trees?” Hester pointed ahead.“Why don’t we all go and take a look.” Werrien smiled coolly.They began walking.“See! You don’t even know. You’re gonna be so busted!” Hester marched behind the others. Werrien, Kristina and Davina, stopped. “How do you like our ranch house?” Hester smiled cockily at Werrien. “It’s pretty impressive, wouldn’t you agree?”Werrien, Kristina, and Davina stood at the edge of a bluff, and Hester would’ve tromped right over it if it weren’t for Werrien sticking his arm out in front of her. Beyond and below the cliff was a breathtaking palace.The color drained from Hester’s face. “This can’t be! My house is gone!” “Where are we?” Davina’s eyes strained as she stared everywhere.Werrien smiled at Kristina. “I guess the appropriate thing for me to say is…welcome back to Bernovem.”
Looking for an action-packed fantasy adventure?
Looking for an action-packed fantasy adventure? Possibly as a Christmas gift for a young person who loves to read? One you can feel good about giving, due to its clean yet highly captivating content. Then check out all '4' in The Bernovem Chronicles. This is book 3 in Kristina’s adventure. In the same genre as Chronicles of Narnia.
This time Kristina’s stayed on in the magical land, to join Hector Mysteria, in the search for the wizard, Azaril Crimson, who’s hidden Bernovem’s Book of Prophecy in the forsaken land of Jalmara. Sentiz is also back and in search of a key item-the Medallion-that she’ll need in order to cast her final spell to rule Bernovem. Things would be much easier for her, if only the whereabouts of the Medallion were known. Join Kristina as she continues her adventure, on her dangerous journey, where she’ll soar high above the land and seas, on the back of a dragon, barely escape the clutches of death, as well as meet someone from her past she’d never dreamed of seeing in Bernovem.
Amazon customer review: Kristina and Werrien's adventures continue in the land of Bernovem, a beautiful, fantasy world, created by Victoria Simcox. All was supposed to be right in this world, after the adventures in The Warble and The Shard...but, are they? There is duplicity and deceit all around. The high-paced, action-packed adventure continues. Will Kristina survive this one? Who is the new guy? What will happen to Werrien and his family? Great book series for those looking to get lost in another world!Excerpt
ExcerptLet’s Chat The sound of rushing water echoes in the tunnel. The chilling scent of sea air hits Arena’s nose as he steps past the archway. He stands on a stone bridge over a chasm. He looks up to see small crystals acting like stars scattered about in the dark night sky that is the stone ceiling. Spread about, embedded in the walls, are stone statues of shark heads with their jaws gaping. Water gushes out from their jaws and through their dagger teeth.             Arena sticks his finger in the mouth of a shark statue nearby. He tastes his finger; it is indeed seawater. He notices scratch marks spread all through the cavern walls. Stepping past the archway, Lahar and Pie gaze at the sight. At the end of the bridge is a large island floating in the air.            Illuminating most of the chasm are grand crystals branching off the rim of the island in a contorted fashion. Each crystal shines its own individual, gorgeous color. A sheet of white sand covers the island. In the center, someone sits. The person’s back is turned to them. A torn navy-blue hooded cloak hides the person’s physical features.“Do you see him?” Lahar asks quietly so as not to alert the figure on the island.“If you mean the only person here sitting in the middle of the island, then yes, I do,” Arena replies just as quietly.            “There is no way that they think I don’t notice them. I just can’t believe that,” they hear a voice say. The words don’t echo in the cavern; instead, the voice runs through their minds like a thought.            Arena and Lahar stand there for a moment in silence. They contemplate whether what has just happened is real or just imagination. They turn to each other, and by the expressions on their faces, they know that what just happened was real.“Now, don’t be shy. You three are welcome to come down and talk,” says the same voice in a welcoming tone.            Lahar and Arena look at each other once more to confirm what they’ve heard. Arena shrugs and says, “We won’t learn anything standing here.”“Plus, it’s rude to keep him waiting,” Lahar says as she gestures for Arena to go first.They all walk down the long stone bridge, with Pie behind both of them. Lahar looks below them into the deep chasm. “That’s strange,” she whispers.“What is?”“There is a lot of water pouring down, but I don’t hear the water hitting the bottom.” They both look down into the seemingly bottomless pit with worried expressions. From then on, they walk practically in the middle of the bridge and avoid the sides.As they walk, Lahar feels something wet hit her nose. She looks up to see drops of water occasionally falling from the stalactites above. Once Lahar steps on the white sand, a chill runs up her spine. The cloaked figure stands without turning.The cloak stops midway down his back and is tattered, with ripped ends. He has tight black pants on with stone thorns ripping through the fabric in random areas around each leg. His feet are buried in the sand. “It’s strange to see that I have visitors. I normally don’t get company down here,” the voice says.“You do keep yourself hidden. That might contribute to that,” Arena replies out loud.            The person chuckles. “That is a solid point.”            Arena steps forward. “Hello. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Arena. My friend here is Lahar, and behind me is Pie,” he says in a respectful tone.
The Great Mistletoe Project (Newly Released)
 *Sweet romance - no spicy love scenes*
Julie Dwyer's boss, Walter, doled out a secret assignment and also put her on a Christmas committee known as The Great Mistletoe Project. Both undertakings took her out of her comfort zone. Both would change her life forever.
Garrett Turner's wife, along with his personal assistant, walked out. A multi-millionaire, the news media wanted every juicy detail of the divorce, which turned him into a recluse. In isolation, Garrett conducted business and tried to fix the deliberate mess left behind by his assistant. It got to be too much. His close friend, Walter Tennyson, suggested temporary help and sent Julie.
Julie was a hard worker, normally reserved. Something in Garrett caused a different side of her to emerge. Instead of holding back, she teased and sassed him.
Originally from the farm, Garrett left that world and entered real estate. He made millions, yet felt a void. Julie helped him figure out what was missing.
They clashed. They laughed. They did great business together. Feelings neither one counted on, happened. And then, things fell apart thanks to the mistletoe project and Garrett's ex. Can Julie and Garrett survive the chaos? About Jan RomesJan Romes grew up in northwest Ohio with eight zany siblings. Married to her high school sweetheart for more years than seems possible, she's also a proud mom, mother-in-law, and grandma.
Jan writes contemporary romance and women's fiction with sharp, witty characters who give as good as they get. The more she writes the more risks she's willing to take with her characters.
When she's not writing, you can find Jan with her nose buried in a book or engaged in some sort of activity to stay fit. She loves spending time with family and friends. A hopeless romantic, she enjoys sunsets, sappy movies, and sitting around a campfire. Though she doesn't claim to have a green thumb, she takes pride in growing all kinds of flowers and plants.
Jan's passionate about everything that involves the written word. She loves to connect with readers. You can find her on Twitter, Facebook, at writer's conferences and book signings. If you love books as much as she does, she'd love to hear from you.
READER'S FAVORITE 5-STAR REVIEW FOR BARELY ABOVE WATER
reviewed by Deborah Stone (Sept. 19, 2016)
"Barely Above Water by Gail Pallotta has a powerful and heart wrenching message that we all need to hear. Suzie has something wrong with her, but no one seems to know what. Without a diagnosis, she is perceived, by some, to be lazy and complaining. No medical doctor has been able to help, so Suzie takes a giant leap of faith and trusts God to lead her. She moves to Florida to see an alternative medicine doctor that once helped her mother's friend. With no job, she relies on God and her savings while she looks for work. She ends up taking a summer-only job coaching a make-shift swim team with inexperienced swimmers. Although temporary, it will keep her going through the summer while she looks for other opportunities to support herself and pay for her treatments. Suzie meets Matt, the Park and Recreation Director and her new boss. When more than a work relationship begins to develop, Suzie feels she must tell Matt about her illness. Will he stand by her or walk away? Is telling him a risk that Suzie is willing to take?
Gail Pallotta introduces us to a world with options when it comes to taking care of our bodies. She speaks with authority on the subject because she understands it first hand. Gail Pallotta's characters are real and convincing because they come from a place of understanding. Gail's love story is fragile and tender, but with an inner strength that comes from trust and faith in God. Gail Pallotta's story is inspiring and resonates with hope when all hope seems to be gone. A lovely story with well defined and well developed characters, and a story line with factual information that will help, or at least educate, readers."LinksAmazon:  https://tinyurl.com/y9ko98vmTwitter:  @Hopefulwords
