Sarah's Song

5 STAR review:
Beautifully written. It touches the heart, and stirs emotions.
It’s the 1940’s in rural East Tennessee, Appalachian country. For most everyone there is only work, and possibly church, if there’s one nearby. People rise before the sun is up, work hard, go to bed early, and rest in church on Sunday. Little chance for much else to happen. Right?
So, why would keeping one little secret for over sixteen years be so important? What could possibly have happened that could change the lives of so many people, if the secret were to be revealed?
There are only three people alive that know the answer to that question. For now.

Vicky Whedbee was born and raised in Daytona Beach, Florida, where she resided until her 40's when she relocated to San Mateo, Florida, where she currently resides with her husband. An avid reader, she wrote her first novel over a period of years as a labor of love and fulfillment of a life long dream that began with the encouragement of her Engish teacher in high school.
With a diagnosis of cancer for her dad, she decided to become an independent author and published her novel on her own in order to present a finished product to her father before his demise. She was in the process of reading said novel, "Things He Hadn't Told Her", to him at the time of his passing.
She wrote her second novel "Sarah's Song", which was a collaboration with her father set in the time of his childhood in the rural Appalachian mountains, with notes taken prior to his demise. Both books have been met with stellar 5-STAR reviews on Amazon & Goodreads, as well as awarded the 5-star review seal from Reader's Favorite.
After numerous requests, she wrote a sequel to Sarah's Song, titled Sarah's Home, which could also be read as a stand-alone. It, too, is being received with love and 5-STAR reviews.
She is currently working on her next novel.

The Attributes of God

Something more than a theoretical knowledge of God is needed by us. God is only truly known in the soul as we yield ourselves to Him, submit to His authority, and regulate all the details of our lives by His holy precepts and commandments. "Then shall we know, if we follow on (in the path of obedience) to know the Lord" (Hosea 6:3). "If any man will do His will, he shall know" (John 7:17). "The people that do know their God shall be strong" (Dan. 11:32).

Arthur Walkington Pink was an English Bible teacher who sparked a renewed interest in the exposition of Calvinism or Reformed Theology. Little known in his own lifetime, Pink became "one of the most influential evangelical authors in the second half of the twentieth century."

Silver's Redemption

In a blur, she leaves the office with a few of her belongings and heads home. Her pent-house style apartment has served as a refuge for over ten years.
Silver is a strong, independent woman, but now, becomes a lost, little girl completely alone.
She cries into the night, totally immersed in self-pity.
Until morning.
All emotion leaves her. Now, she must depend on her practical side. She decides to leave and head to her father’s West Texas ranch. A far cry from city life, but she needs a complete change. Cut off from society and it’s pettiness. A new world.
The ranch is nestled in the foothills twenty miles from Diamond Gulch. It is broken down, neglected, and the answer to her prayers. She bought a mule named Joey. They traversed the desert to Diamond Gulch once a month for supplies. She met a few people. Rosalee, owner of the hotel, Smokes, the stableman, and Foley, the sheriff.
Sheriff Foley sees her enter the town with Joey and decides to get Smokes, the stable hand to do his dirty work. He told him to warn Rosalee to keep Silver away from Lily, his girlfriend. He didn’t want the two to meet. He has plans for Silver.
Smokes and Rosalee are a thing. Sort of. He hadn’t worked up the courage to ask her out. Foley told him to use that as an excuse to warn Rosalee. When he walked toward the hotel, he saw Ash Ericcson enter in front of him.
Gulch Inn Hotel stood in the middle of town, and Rosalee, the hotel manager became a trusted friend. Rosalee always tries to find Silver a man. She resists.
While they enjoyed a traditional shot of whiskey, a man bounded through the front door. Ash Ericcson, hand at the local hardware store, handsome, with a shock of rusty colored hair, blue eyes, and an appealing muscular build.
Rosalee introduced them. Her purpose was to push the two together.
There was something about him. Good-looking, confident. A small spark burned, but she resists again.
What happens to a woman whose value was demeaned and chooses isolation instead of socialization? Silver is a woman fighting age related demons and who doesn’t trust her own ability.
Ash Ericcson finds Silver attractive. Her silver hair suits her name, green eyes and tanned skin make her a vision to behold. Ash has his share of admirers, even Foley’s girlfriend, Lily, but Silver is different. No one knows he is an undercover Texas Ranger.
When Ash finds out Foley wants Silver’s mine, he springs into action to hatch a plan to catch him. He draws Silver in to get close to her, a grave mistake.
Ash stays with Silver at the ranch. Love blossoms for the first time and in a real way for Silver. She envisions a future with him.
Together, they work to set a trap for Foley, but before they can close the noose, Silver is kidnapped.
Ash comes to her rescue, along with Smokes and Rosalee, but as the plan is executed Ash’s real identity is uncovered.
Rescued, Silver is grateful, but feels betrayed that Ash didn’t confide in her and pushes him away.
Rosalee suggests Silver run for the mayor position.
Silver protests, but Rosalee presses her on the matter.
Silver rediscovers her value, wins the mayor’s race, and becomes a strong force in Diamond Gulch.
This story is about an older woman, who faced with rejection because of age, finds her worth, regains her confidence, finds love, and brings older and younger women together for a common good.
Romance, mystery, and intrigue abound while addressing the difficulties of aging in this modern world.

Peter Glassman

About Peter Glassman
As a baby boomer and retired physician I'm devoting my time to writing medical thrillers. My life as an author of fiction began in 2003 after several individuals consistently commented that my speeches delivered at Toastmasters International always captured the audience because they were presented as captivating stories regardless of the topic. "I should write a book" they all said. My wife encouraged me because she was sick of listening to me rehearsing my speeches.
"What should I write about?" I asked of my supportive spouse.
"Write about your patient from the Navy who brought back a bottle full of human eyes from Vietnam."
Thus began my string of medical thrillers starting with THE EYEMAN. The sequel to THE EYEMAN, THE DUTY CREW, chronicles the last Christmas Day of the Vietnam War in a Northeast Naval hospital. Like all my novels true lifetime situations is interwoven with suspenseful and intriguing storylines.
I spent most of my life in Massachusetts and schooling leading up to both an MD and PhD in medicine and directed medical research for the last 20 years of my healthcare career with drug development in major pharmaceutical companies.
I've always been caught up in history and my medical thriller COTTER attests to historical fact both in medicine and family life in the struggling Post-Civil War years 1868-1872.
I believe literature should be educational, fun, serious, full of feelings and always with a touch of fantasy. We're all part dreamers. When Dr. Mathew Collins returns from Afghanistan military service his life encompasses all these elements in THE HELIOS RAIN. A similar experience but on a different motif was blended in my medical thriller surrounding a possible cure for Muscular Dystrophy in THE MYOSIN FACTOR. Ever want to reveal the bad side of an employment experience? My years in the pharmaceutical industry witnessed sabotage and some drugs with unacceptable side effects pressured by upper management to sneak by the FDA. THE ADJUSTMENT CLINIC fictionalizes two of these real-life based situations.
I live in San Antonio, Texas spending 5-hours a day on new writing, working with editors and trying to promote my e-books. Encouraging my 8 grandchildren to read and write is as much fun as my own writing efforts. It's my hope that the reading public will experience the joys and realities of life through my novels.

THE HELIOS RAIN

U.S. Air Force Major Dr. Mathew Collins is still a military target in his San Antonio plastic surgery practice. Collins is the sole survivor of his special operations unit in Afghanistan after attack by Iranians with the chemical trichothecene–also called the Helios Rain. The United States fears its next home attack will be with this chemical weapon. Collins’ primary physician, Air Force Colonel Dr. Abram Gesecke is actively testing Collins’ muscle tissue in pursuit of an antidote and reason for his survival. Gesecke urges Collins not to draw attention to his newfound super strength as Collins has become a target by Iran to obtain his medical records and engineer his abduction. Indeed, an Iranian soldier, Lieutenant Kahlid Vermani, also a Helios Rain survivor like Collins, is sent by Iran to the US to find him. Kahlid Vermani uncovers three former Afghanistan military returnees with the name Mathew Collins in his mission to find the correct Helios Rain survivor. In so doing, he prioritizes his targets–an Army Sergeant, a Navy SEAL Lieutenant and Dr. Mathew Collins. It is an agenda of discovery and death.Dr. Collins cannot hide his new powers completely. He is discovered at a fitness center by San Antonio criminal boss Carl Grange, when Collins rescues the man by lifting 400 pounds of free weights from crushing the man’s neck. In addition, when Collins sings the Lord’s Prayer in church with his newfound soul mate Nancy Tilden and her teenage son Frankie, his voice becomes an ethereal, heaven sent delivery inducing a spiritual experience in all who hear the prayer including the U.S. President. Presidential attention adds the Secret Service into the mix of Air Force Security and CIA trying to keep Collins and his new family protected from the Jihad stalkers.
