Free Fiction Friday – Alpha Spirit: Chapter Fourteen – Darkness

“You see,” Darkness sneered, “he isn’t smart enough to be one of us.”

I ignored him, looking up at Marcus instead. “You didn’t tell me that I was a werewolf.”

“I thought you knew,” Marcus said. “That’s what having a spirit means.”

“Nobody told me that,” I said, struggling to keep my voice from rising hysterically. I couldn’t be a werewolf. It wasn’t possible. My mother was allergic to dogs. “I’m not a werewolf.”

“Yes, you are,” Marcus insisted.

“No, I’m not.”

Yes, you are, the spirit said.

“N...

Free Fiction Friday – Alpha Spirit: Chapter Thirteen – The Pack

Marcus climbed out of the Jeep and I reluctantly followed, hunching my shoulders against the cold, wet wind that swirled through the clearing, making the nearby trees rattle and groan. Gravel crunched underfoot as we approached the barn, the big, main doors standing open wide enough to allow us through. It was warm inside and smelled of old straw and some kind of musky animal scent, like a wet dog. A few chairs and some ragged bales of hay had been set up in the middle of the barn, and I froz...

Moonlight Monday – 7/6/15

Author’s Note: Happy Monday!

It’s so hot! And dry. I’m an Oregonian – we have webbed feet. I’m not used to 95+ degrees and more than a month without rain. Everything is so dry, our historic baseball stadium, due for renovation in a few months, caught fire and burned to the ground last week. We were terrified the fireworks would burn down half of the city, but luckily, most people were very safe and careful. I just wish it would rain. :(

On a happier note, I feel good about Moonlight, even tho...

Free Fiction Friday – Alpha Spirit: Chapter Twelve – Awkward

“You didn’t know?” Marcus asked. “Your spirit didn’t tell you?”

I shook my head, but suddenly I wasn’t so sure. “Maybe, sort of,” I said. “It told me a lot of things, most of which didn’t make any sense. It never said you were a werewolf.”

“He,” Marcus said.

“What?”

“Your spirit is a he, not an it.”

“Sorry, he never told me that, either,” I said. Silence yawned between us, awkward and filled with tension. “So…” I said finally. “You’re a werewolf. A werewolf.”

“Yeah,” Marcus said, raising his...

Free Fiction Friday – Alpha Spirit: Chapter Eleven – Stranded

Sitting in the passenger’s seat of Marcus’ dark blue Jeep, I stared out the window and nervously gnawed at the edge of my lower lip, my heart hammering inside my chest. Beside me, in the driver’s seat, Marcus steered with one hand, his cast resting on his thigh. Luckily, the car was an automatic. I watched the pale pools of light cast by the headlights play over the smooth, dark road as Marcus left the residential part of town and headed out along the old highway, past the lumber mill and the...

Moonlight Monday – 6/22/15

Author’s Note: Happy Monday!

The first full week of summer vacation and I almost forgot what day it was. I did forget that Friday was Friday, and I forgot to post Alpha Spirit until Saturday. Oops. ^_^

This was one of the most difficult chapters I’ve written in a while. Sex scenes. Yeesh. I like writing erotic romance, but it’s just so hard to keep all the scenes from sounding alike. Hopefully, it didn’t turn out as bad as I fear it did. Let me know.

See you in two weeks, on July 6th!

Moonlig...

Free Fiction Friday – Alpha Spirit: Chapter Ten – Stalker

“Cody, are you okay?” my mother asked as I helped her peel potatoes for dinner. “You’ve hardly said a thing since I picked you up today. Did something happen at school?”

“I’m fine,” I said quickly, setting the peeler on the counter and dumping my pile of peelings into the compost bin. I glanced over at her and she clearly wasn’t buying it. For a moment, I considered telling her about the voice, but my mother was one of those people who rolled their eyes any time someone mentioned bigfoot or U...

Free Fiction Friday – Alpha Spirit: Chapter Nine – What Now?

“How do you know that name?” Marcus asked, his voice just a hoarse whisper. “Did…did Tobin say anything before he died? Did he say something about Silverpaws?” The anguish in his face, in his voice, was almost unbearable.

I shook my head. “I- I’m sorry; this was a mistake.” I turned to leave, but he grabbed me by the arm. I tensed, but he didn’t jerk me back or slam me against the lockers, he just held on and wouldn’t let me go.

“Cody, please,” he said, and my jaw dropped.

“You know my name,...

Moonlight Monday – 6/8/15

Author’s Note: Happy Monday!

The last week of school, and it’s going to be a scorcher! It was almost 90 yesterday, and is supposed to hit 90 today, which really sucks because our school has no AC or cooling system whatsoever, and the classrooms that face south (which is most of them) just bake all day long. At least there are only 4 days left. I think we can make it. :)

Moonlight is going well, as far as I can tell. Of course, the final judgment will be yours, lol. Be sure to let me know what...

Free Fiction Friday – Alpha Spirit: Chapter Seven – Voices

“Is this a joke?” I asked finally. “Am I being punk’d? Where are the cameras?” I glanced around, but no one jumped out of the bushes to yell ‘Gotcha!’. “Please, tell me that you’re joking.”

I’m sorry, but it’s no joke, the voice said.

“Then you’re insane. Or I am. There are no such things as werewolves.”

Then what am I? the voice demanded. If you can find another explanation, go right ahead.

“You…” I said, trailing off as I searched for a way to finish that sentence. “You are a delusion, a fi...
