In League with Mr. Darcy is now an Audiobook
It’s been a wild and crazy start to the school year. Behind the scenes, I’ve been busy putting together something new for you.
Love, laughter, and matchmaking skullduggery have come to audio!

Narrator Benjamin Fife skillfully brings this fun story to life. His specialty is fantasy-adventure, and thus he has the chops to deliver a rollicking good listen.
Mr. Darcy, the ogre
In-love-against-her-will Elizabeth Bennet
Snippy, ambitious Caroline Bingley
Top-lofty (and equally ambitious) Mr. Elton
Your Jane Austen friends come off the page to entertain and delight.
In League with Mr. Darcy is available at most audiobook outlets
These include Audible, Sribd, Chirp, AudiobooksNow, and Spotify.
Scribd is especially intriguing. Like Kindle Unlimited, it has a reasonable monthly subscription, enabling you to do a lot of listening. It’s the Netflix for audiobooks!
The other great thing about “wide” distribution is that my audiobooks are listed in five different library catalogues. If you’d like this audiobook, why not request that your librarian order it?
But wait, there’s more!
Did you notice I said “audiobooks”? The audio edition of As Only Mr. Darcy Can has just passed quality control. Hooray! Soon it too will appear at 45 audiobook distributors. Audible takes longer, but As Only will be available there as well.
Coming soon, a Christmas novella for you!
That’s right, a new Darcy and Elizabeth story from yours truly.
If all goes according to plan–famous last words, right? –on November 1st, Step Lively Mr. Darcy will be published.
The design team is putting the finishing touches on the cover. It’s exquisite! And Benny Fife has done a wonderful job in voicing the story.
Stay tuned.

FREE through August 15: The Complete Mercy's Embrace Trilogy
How exciting is this? A BookBub feature!
You already know what a scaredy cat I am. I was absolutely certain that BookBub would turn down my application. They’ve done so before, many times! My writing friend Robin Helm can testify that I whined a lot.
But I applied anyway.
I did mention that Netflix Persuasion is a hot topic among historical romance fans right now. And BookBub bought it.
So here we are today.
Elizabeth Elliot and Admiral McGillvary and the rest of the Persuasion crew are ready to be discovered by Regency readers.
The other wonderful thing is that it appears to be free IN ALL MARKETPLACES. (I’m looking at you, Canada!) This is a huge improvement for Amazon. It’s so great to offer The Trilogy to everyone!
BookBub can and does feature Jane Austen fan fiction! Not often, but it does happen.
If you’d like the single eBook edition of this long, exciting story, now is your chance to grab one. The FREE offer expires at midnight (Pacific Time) on August 15, 2022.

Mercy's Embrace: an Austenprose Top Ten Persuasion Favorite
Well. The Netflix adaptation of Persuasion has been a hot topic for conversation this week.
There isn't a Jane Austen group on Facebook (and elsewhere) in which her admirers haven't complained loud and long. Film critics have had a heyday inventing snarky titles for their articles.
The trailer and reviews have been, shall we say, disappointing. With each adaptation, I cling to the hope that a new generation will be introduced to Jane Austen's world and share our love for her works. That's what I tell myself about this one.
Oh well. Enough said.
"Let other pens dwell on guilt and misery." -Jane Austen
In the spirit of Austen love, Austenprose.com has come out with Top Ten Favorite Novels Inspired by Jane Austen's Persuasion.
Because we never have quite enough of Jane's beloved characters.
Guess who made Laurel Ann's list? That's right, Mercy's Embrace. To borrow a phrase from Caroline Bingley, "I am all astonishment."

I am also humbled and honored. Mercy's Embrace is not a recent release.
Favorites lists are a wonderful way to find really good reads. Below is the link to Austenprose, in case you'd like to take a look.
My Top Ten Favorite Novels Inspired by Jane Austen's Persuasion
In other news, I am having In League with Mr. Darcy produced as an audiobook. I know, right? Scaredy-cat me, stepping out and trying stuff.
The narrator, Benjamin Fife, has voiced all ten of Maria Grace's Jane Austen's Dragons books. League is such a fun story, and he has the chops to do it justice. Plus, he LOVES Pride and Prejudice. Years before becoming a narrator, he binged the BBC series and was hooked.
"Always happy to lend my voice to Elizabeth Bennet and Fitzwilliam Darcy." - Benjamin Fife
I'll let you know once the audiobook is available. I am using Findaway Voices for distribution, so it will be on something like 40 platforms, in addition to Audible. Next up for narration will be As Only Mr. Darcy Can.
"Go big or go home" has been my watchword for this venture. I figure if listeners enjoy In League with Mr. Darcy, they'll need another Laura Hile title available. I'll have something new for Christmas as well. Stay tuned!

Just in time for summer reading: In League with Mr. Darcy
Teaching middle school during Covid has been . . . challenging, to say the least. Time for writing? Nonexistent, especially during the first year. Bit by bit, I fought back.
And now I am delighted to share that, at long last, I have something new for you. It’s a lighthearted Pride and Prejudice Regency romance.
In League with Mr. Darcy
Love, laughter, and matchmaking skullduggery are waiting for you!
I’ll tell you a little about it.
Over the months of the shutdown, I kept seeing these ads on my Kindle; maybe you saw them too. The ones with “Grumpy” in the title? Yeah, those.
They got me to thinking. What if?
When I get going with “What If,” you know there’s a story brewing
What if Mr. Darcy is disastrously honest and outspoken? Not precisely a grump, but almost.
What if, instead of hating Mr. Darcy, Elizabeth falls for him right away? Very much against her will, of course. How can she be such a fool?
And what if Wickham, instead of working his stratagems, is sidelined by a former schoolfellow? A clergyman who just happens to pass through Meryton, remembers what Wickham is, and says so?
The good vicar would have kept going, but he chances to get a look at Caroline Bingley. Oho! She’s rich — and unmarried!
Is this a match made in heaven, or what?
Charles Bingley thinks it’s from the other place, for the fellow is obviously a fortune hunter!
Who knew Charles could dislike someone so thoroughly?
Caught in the middle are Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy, with friendship that could be blossoming into something more. Little do they know that Caroline has a scheme of her own.
In League with Mr. Darcy is the perfect beach read. Or, if you’re like me and are summering at home, it’s the perfect fictional escape. I think you’ll enjoy it.

What pre-release readers are saying …
“This is an excellent story, hilariously funny!”
“I am in love with your Darcy, irrevocably and ardently.”
“A Darcy who isn’t grim and silent? Who could imagine such a thing? You, I guess!”
“Another lively and entertaining story from one of my favorite authors! I sigh, I smile and sometimes outright laugh when I am reading your works!”
” I always love a Laura Hile story!!”
“Thoroughly enjoying your Darcy, such a wry sense of humor!”
“I love, love, LOVE how you inject humor and super fun vernacular into the chapters.“
“Every time I read a new chapter, you’ve once again outdone yourself in hilarity. Oh. My. Gosh. We’re at serious LOL material. Like, fall off chair bcz you’re laughing so hard kinda thing.”
“Thank you, Laura, for yet another terrific, enjoyable, fun, crazy and completely wonderful story!”
“Very entertaining story right to the end.”
You’ll find In League with Mr. Darcy at Amazon.

There are no reviews at the moment (being so new), but Mercy's Embrace has fans
"The world of Jane Austen's Persuasion fairly sparkles under Laura Hile's deft and humorous touch." - PAMELA AIDAN, author of Fitzwilliam Darcy, Gentleman
"This series is a magnificent gift for those who want to revisit the world of Persuasion and see their favorite characters brilliantly rendered!" - AUSTENESQUE REVIEWS
"... this has been an incredible, satisfying series!" - AUSTENPROSE

"In my opinion, there's no better time to set sail with Austen's bravest and enjoy a Regency-style romance that's as captivating and as beautifully written as any of the best Austenesque fiction reads that I have loved over the past several years!!"- JUST JANE 1813
And then there is this.
These orange #1 tags don't last, but they sure are fun to see.
They happen because of readers like YOU.
