Halfway Tree

* * *
I thought I'd share Mike's photos from the Halfway Tree, a big old cottonwood midway between Brandon and Winnipeg.

Jason Stefanik's Night Became Years

From Jason Stefanik’s launch of Night Became Years at The Edge Gallery and Urban Art Centre. I hosted the event, which featured poet Colin Smith, musician Jason Eastwood, and artists Gabrielle Funk and Ian Johnson.
So nice to see Jason launched!

Late-winter mushrooming

* * *
Investigating two fresh elm stumps in the Southwood Lands, I found this mushroom. (I think it's a last-year mushroom that was rehydrated in the melting snow...)

Sugar Ride-ing!

* * *
Yvonne Blomer and I have read together a bunch of times when we both launched books together in 2014 with Palimpsest Press and we chat most days, but we haven't been in the same city for ages...
It was great to see Yvonne and, also, to hear her read from Sugar Ride, her memoir of a cycling trip through Malaysia and Vietnam. (I tested out some forest-y non-fiction...)
Also not-bad was the morning and afternoon we spent at Thermea. (My favourite sauna was the temporarily-scentless vaporo, which was deep and dark and hot, followed by a full body salt-scrub...)
