IT’S ALMOST OCTOBER 1ST!!

I am really excited and more than a scosh* apoplectic. Having a real live book launch is a different kind of anxious. (You have to smile at everyone even if they’re looking for the bathroom. Then, sit and watch. people may walk by and scan the books without stopping; they stop, pick one up and then look at the cover…”is this a sci-fi terror story?”; or they pick up a book turn it over and read the blurb while cheerily talking about the totally weird weather. And leave.

Keep smiling.

So, I will be sitting here Thursday at the stroke of noon staring at my screen prepared to answer questions ( including the weird weather), play short readings, raffle off copies of Diva print and eBooks, and maybe sipping a wee dram (Highland Dew LIVES!).

Please save the date Thurs. 10/1/20, noon till 12:30ish.

Seriously? a pandemic?

One might think I’ve been snoozing under a rock lo these past eight months. But no. I’m kidding.  I have been honing my skills of “Hermit-ing” and a few months  “Quarantine Life” with my brother.

I can report that I am quite accomplished at both. Truthfully, it’s not radically different from my prior ADL (activities of daily living).  While I have mastered the art of “Zooming” I do miss actual HUGS!!

You’d think with all of this time on my hands I could have been wildly creative…and I have been “sort of”. I was thrilled to have John’s skill to help with 58 different projects that I couldn’t do alone. (more on that another blog)

More importantly, I completed my next novel “Diva: A Romance”. I wrote the original story about nine years ago and with some loving badgering I resurrected the story and will look forward to its release in October of this year! (See cover)

I continue my obsession with woodworking cholla skeletons. The wood is unique, very hard and infinitely inspirational. I have many beautiful pieces, some whimsical pieces, and a number of functional objects (towel bars, pen holders, listed sculptures, hat racks, and mobiles!

2020 is Here!

…and about damn time to get back to the lost art of blogging.

Capsule summary: I am well (joys-of-aging notwithstanding); my brother,John, has been on a six month trailer tour of the states and is staying with me over the holidays; I re-released The Damaged Series eBooks in 2019 to preview a brand new addition, Destiny’s Child (available now); I joined our Sapphire Publishing team and Olivia Cruises to sail the Caribbean in April; made an annual visit to the F.O.W.H #251 in North Carolina; and spent many happy hours with tools in hand working on “ChollaCraft”.

I am working on two new stories “Diva” and “Obelisk: A Mystery” also a novella about a cruise…

The past few months our local Western Women/Petroglyph Guild have been working as a  ground team for The 2020 Golden Crown  Literary Society Conference to be held in ALBUQUERQUE this year! We are very excited and looking to for ways to introduce our guests to some of the many reasons we love the Land of Enchantment.

In addition to THE green chile cheeseburger!

Annual Blog post

[image error]Valle Vidal

Yes, it’s been over a year.

Mea Culpa.

But there’s good news! I’m finishing and NEW novel that is a stand-alone and… another book in the Damaged Series. Yes! If you love Zeke and Anne as much as I do, you will be thrilled to meet Zeke’s super bratty thirteen year old niece and junior criminal.

Destiny Cabot is going to spend a couple of months with our courageous couple. Will Anne succeed where Zeke may fail?

Are BOTH the Hussein brothers really dead? Then who’s been creeping around their house?

After ten years together, are they ready for a change?

Well, NaNoWriMo is back and it’s time to tackle those questions and more…

Yes! Double feature. There may be a very mysterious occurrence in the ghost filled Cimarron area. Maybe we’ll spend more time with the indomitable under Secretary Clare Ryerson.

I’m plunging in to Nano and have logged 10133 words by day 4.

Send good juju and fine whisky!

NaNoWriMo is coming!

November 1st begins 30 days of Butt-in-Chair wordcrafting. I’ve entered every year except 2016. It’s become a training exercise for the discipline of writing EVERY Damn Day.

Diligently done, I usually end up with a decent start to a manuscript. And this year, I’m amping up the pressure with a new idea. Several weeks ago, I woke up with and idea for a new book in the Damaged Series–The adventures of Zeke and Anne. I even had a title “Destiny’s Child”.

Having the title and the tiniest essence of the story…(you better sit down) …

I.WROTE.AN.OUTLINE

I did.

Big deal? Are you kidding? I am the quintessential “Panster”. I never even imagined HOW to write an outline. I can’t explain what happened, but I think it’s because I’m highly motivated to get my ‘mojo’ back where it belongs. Too many interruptions have robbed me of the joy I experience when I’m enmeshed in a story. That was the reason I started writing to begin with. I love making up stories.

[image error]My very first published book

This was my very first published book back in 2011. It became the first in a series that–to this day [wink] continues.

Do you enjoy making up stories? Perhaps you might give this “nano” madness a try.
