Guess where I'm going tonight?
[image error]OK, not to the Golden Globes itself, but to the InStyle after-party! Which, in my opinion, is even better, since I'll be nicely well-rested after watching the Globes at home. Yesterday, I went to pick up my ticket at the Beverly Hilton, where the show and after-parties are held; that's when I snapped this photo. There was security everywhere, and the set and red carpet was bigger and more eye-popping than I'd ever imagined. Not sure, yet, what I'm wearing–I'll be borrowing something from my r...

I'll be appearing on The Dr. Oz Show today
[image error]If you're in New York, you've already missed it–sorry! If you're in LA, it's airing this afternoon on Fox 11 at 5:00 PM PST. Just got the heads up, which is why I'm posting about this now. I'll be watching with Carole because it's too painful to watch these things alone. For the record, I'm on the segment about Ambien addiction, which I believe is in the second half of the show–not the segment called, "When Sex is Painful." Ahem.

Desperate Housewriters
[image error]
WHICH former "lingerie" model, who recently split from her musician husband, is all washed up? So much so, she's given her neighbors a soaking by stealing water from their outdoor hose to wash her fancy car.
Let the guessing games begin! Here's the back story: Today I came home to find a tiny Porsche convertible parked in front of our house. It was dripping wet. I looked inside the car and saw a Gucci wallet sitting in the front seat, along with some keys. Weird, right? WELL. I e-mailed the...

Get a load of L.A. life
[image error][image error]I live here. In this house. With this view. Carole is staying in the upstairs bedroom, and I'm staying downstairs. We live on different floors, says the slack-jawed New Yorker. Our house, which belongs to a famous writer–not sure if I can reveal her name; I'll ask her–is an architectural jewel designed by Rudolph M. Schindler, tucked away on a dead-end street in the Hollywood Hills. It has secret panels and passageways and a stunning view from the living room (see photo, right.) And this is m...

Ringing in 2010
[image error]Doing things a little bit backwards, here, since Amanda just sent me these photos. Went out with Amanda, her boyfriend Dave, Sarah Jones and Melissa Gelernter to a party hosted by Carole Radziwill and her good friend Doc (surgeon for The New York Rangers.) It was a slushy, rainy, freezing night and I was scheduled to leave for LA at 9:00 AM. [image error][image error][image error]I figured I'd stop by the party for an hour or so. Well, the party was so much fun–one of those crowds you just can't put your finger on: all different a...

It's official: I'm in LA!
[image error]Well, actually, I'm in Palm Springs, for my friend Karen Ramos's birthday. We're staying with a bunch of her friends in a gorgeous house right on a golf course, thanks to her friend Kevin. Check it out: Palm trees! Golf carts! Pool! Hot tub! Hot guys! Right this very minute, I'm sitting around an outdoor fire with six other people (and Violet, who is wrapped in a blanket), getting ready to cook a big spaghetti and meatball dinner. We will follow that up with several dozen games of...

Saying goodbye to my daily routine
[image error]I am a creature of habit. And although I am on contract with Glamour, and could switch up my routine every day if I wanted to, I don't. Most mornings I wake up at 7:15 AM, walk Violet, head to the city to do yoga, then settle in at my favorite bookstore/coffee shop to write. I work with the same people every day–some of whom I've never talked to, though we do acknowledge each other with a gruff nod–and eat the same breakfast (carrot muffin and decaf coffee; Stacey Platt says I'm going to get ...

More parties, and a trip down memory lane
[image error]Last night the fabulous Sally Cohen threw a little party for Blake Nelson before he heads back to LA, and strangely enough, she is living in Larchmont, where I grew up! As soon as I got off the highway I knew where to go. It was strange to drive through town and see that my favorite clothing store, Rags to Riches, has turned into an Ann Taylor, and the ice cream shop where I once worked is now a Starbucks. I hung out with Blake and Sally for a few hours, then Sally took me upstairs and...

A very Jewish Christmas
[image error]I had the opposite of a stay-in-your-pajamas day on Christmas. The day before, I drove to Bellport, LI, to spend the night with my friend Ariel Foxman, editor-in-chief of InStyle and my friend of 15 years. On the way, I was listening to NPR and heard Sarah McNally, owner of the wonderful independent bookstore McNally Jackson, recommend my friend Saïd Sayrafiezadeh's memoir as one of her favorites of the year! When I arrived in Bellport, I found Ariel stuck in the snow, half-in and half-out...

A night out with Sarah Jones
[image error]You're just going to have to take my word for it that this is me and Sarah Jones last night at the Boom Boom Room…there is no light whatsoever in that place, and no flash on my phone. Sarah is a relatively new friend, but I've known about her for years. I saw her incredible one-woman show, Bridge and Tunnel, when it played on Broadway, and I'm telling you, it blew my freakin' mind. Read the New York Times review I've linked to, and you'll see what I'm talking about. Recently, she was invited ...
