Oooh guess what?
Willow doesn’t give a damn about any of this because cat, but it turns out The Complete Guide to Even More Vegan Food Substitutions is a bit early with its release since Amazon already has it in stock and is shipping it! Now I’m going to be late with preview recipes but I can deal with that if you can too.
Woo!

The Complete Guide to Even More Vegan Food Substitutions
It’s hard to believe that The Great Vegan Protein Book came out a mere couple (or so) of months ago, and it’s already almost time for The Complete Guide to Even More Vegan Food Substitutions to be released!
It was a fun one to co-write with Joni, and we can’t wait to hear your feedback on the updated charts and brand new recipes developed for this companion volume to The Complete Guide to Vegan Food Substitutions.
We’ve already received a few inquiries as to whether this book is a standalo...

Dried Mushroom Broth Powder
I know, 2 posts in one day after weeks (months?) of silence. Don’t go falling off your chair now.
Mushrooms and I aren’t always on the best terms but luckily we’re in a good phase right now.
I ordered this particular forest mix from Bulk Foods, along with an unmentionable amount of nooch. Usually, my go-to dried mushroom is shiitake (it’s flavor-packed, often cheaper, and can contain less grit*), but it was time for a change.
I used both the nooch and ‘shrooms in the broth powder that follo...

Quick randomness, why not.
1. A berry smoothie; 2. Herbal orange tea; 3. Citrus galore; 4. Raw kale sprouts.
I found the kale sprouts at Trader Joe’s, I’d never seen those before. If they’re new to you too, they’re described here as a “hybrid cross of Russian red kale and Brussels sprouts.” They’re so quick to prepare and quite delicious. Not to mention, mini cabbage head? Very cute. Thankfully, their formerly rather high price is starting to go down a bit. More kale sprouts in the near future.
I haven’t done any ba...

Follow Your Heart’s new cheese: A review
Back when I still ate cheese-cheese, Emmenthal (what’s known as Swiss cheese here in the States) used to be my go-to. Of course it was great with large chunks of crusty bread (what isn’t great with crusty bread?), but it was also good enough to be eaten on its own. It was the texture, the creaminess, the flavor, the overall awesomeness.
I hadn’t even missed this type of cheese in all the years I’ve been vegan because I never found the perfect equivalent, and let’s face it: there’s so much o...

Good Seed Crackers
Since I posted about vegan cheese and have another cheesy review coming up soon, I suppose it’s only fair to write about crackers too. Next on the list is wine. (Not really.)
I think I love these even more than the quackers of ages ago, Chaz can’t decide between the two, so I’m making batch upon batch of each to help him out. Am I being played here?
This recipe is proud to appear in the recently released Great Vegan Protein Book.

Kite Hill: A review
I was very lucky to taste the aged, vegan, artisanal nut milk cheeses Kite Hill generously sent my way for some honest feedback.
I know, this post is about cheese but boasts a hot chocolate as its first picture. You’ll see why if you read on.
Apparently, Kite Hill’s vegan cheeses are only being sold at Whole Foods at the moment. Considering Whole Foods doesn’t seem to be interested in opening a store in this town, I’d never had the opportunity to try any before.
