BLOG TOUR: A great interview!

Aaron Paul Lazar interviews me today on Murder by 4: http://murderby4.blogspot.com/. It's a great interview with some wonderful questions--a pleasure for me to answer them, and very thought-provoking too. I could hardly believe he'd found out so much about me before conducting the interview--a true friend, and a great interviewer.

Aaron Paul Lazar is also the author of three very fine mystery series and I'm slowly collecting his books.

The Gus LeGarde mysteries feature a classical music professor, grandfather, gardener, chef, and nature lover, called Gus LeGarde, who plays Chopin etudes to feed his soul and might be described as a "Renaissance man caught in the 21st century." With an amazing cast of family and friends, LeGarde lives, loves, and solves mysteries in a world so convincingly drawn you'll think you've been from the Genesee Valley to Paris and beyond at his side.

[image error] Sam Moore is a recently retired man who worries about his wife's declining health and mourns the brother who vanished fifty years ago. But a surprising discovery leads to delightfully diabolical mysteries with paranormal overtones and perfectly human grounding.

And now there's the new Tall Pines mysteries too! Set in the Adirondacks and definitely not just for the birds. A prolific writer who creates landscapes and characters filled with life and depth, Aaron Paul Lazar lives on a ridge overlooking the Genesee Valley in upstate New York with his wife, mother-in-law, Cavipoo, Balto, CaviBichon, Amber, and cat, Cameo.

BLOG TOUR:Flower Child blog tour intersects with super zombies!

M.J.A. Ware is the author of the super teen-safe, boy-friendly, zombie tale, Super Zombie Juice Mega Bomb--reviewed recently here. He's interviewing me on his blog http://themissingword.blogspot.com/ today, and in return, I'm interviewing him. Yes folks--it's intersecting blog tours again. And SZJMB really is a very fun book, with genuine teenage characters, coming-of-age type angst, movie-style thrills, and great humor--think Shaun of the Dead for kids (I loved Shaun of the Dead!).

BLOG TOUR: Spiritual Speculative Fiction

The Flower Child Blog tour stops at another wonderful blog today, where fantasy author A. F. Stewart (in her own words) rants, writes and reviews books: http://afstewartblog.blogspot.com/. You can even read an excerpt from the first A. F. Stewart book that I ever read--Chronicles of the Undead--at the top of her page. Or, if you prefer shorter stories, click on Passing Fancies halfway down the page and enjoy some wonderful samples of short scary tales--perfect for the time of year.

A Nova Scotia writer who likes fantasy, mysteries and history, A. F. Stewart is also a great friend and supporter of other writers. She creates and responds to writing prompts, always leaves encouraging comments, and even runs groups for writers on Goodreads where she hosted my Q&A last weekend. So enjoy my post on Spiritual Speculative Fiction when you follow the link, and enjoy the many other things on offer. Then, if you're looking for some great scary books to give as Halloween gifts... well, look no further!

BLOG TOUR: What inspired Flower Child?

Author T.P. Boje has invited my Flower Child blog tour to her blog http://www.tpboje.blogspot.com/ today where I'm writing about what inspired me to write Flower Child.

Back in August, Therese wrote a guest post on this blog (http://sheiladeeth.blogspot.com/2011/08/tp-boje-on-inspiration.html) about where the inspiration for her book, The Eye of the Crystal Ball, came from. It looks like we're exchanging ideas and inspirations.

(Click here for my review of The Eye of the Crystal Ball.)

Meanwhile, Therese's new Y/A paranormal romance, The Academy--book 1 of The Afterlife, has just gone on sale (with book two coming soon!) and she's been getting good reviews. You might like to follow the links and check it out. More inspiration, more great books coming your way...

Thank you, Therese, for hosting me on your blog. And good luck with the Afterlife!

The Afterlife, by T.P. Boje

Have you ever wondered where you go when you die?
Meghan is 16 when it happens to her. She wakes up on a flying steamboat on her way to a school run by Angels in a white marble castle.
On the boat she meets Mick who has been dead for more than a hundred years but still looks like he is a teenager. He helps her through the difficult beginning at the new school in a new world filled with heavenly magic.
One day some of Meghan's roommates find a mirror in the cellar of the school and they persuade her to go through it with them - well knowing it is strictly against the rules of the school. Meghan ends up back on earth where she meets Jason. But Jason is in danger and Meghan knows something important. Soon she is forced to choose between the two worlds. The one she belongs to now, and the one she left.

BLOG TOUR: Flower Child and a question of identity

The Flower Child blog tour is visiting Jezebel Jorge's blog today with thanks and a post on identity.

Who am I? And why am I asking myself "Who am I?" Go over to http://www.jezebeljorge.com/2011/10/identity-by-sheila-deeth.html and find out.

Jezebel's new book, Headlocks and Hexes , is coming soon from Gypsy Shadow Publishing--the same publishers as my beloved Flower Child--and here's a blurb to whet your appetite for this fascinating mix of women with magical strength and men with physical...

A love spell turns lethal when Rowan falls for professional wrestler, Dylan Dalton. Once she's immersed in his world of scripted violence, endless drama, and constant temptations of life on the road, Rowan learns the identity of her birth father. Chaos ensues when she finally meets the man responsible for raping her 15-year-old birth mother.

Guided by the ghost of her grandmother, Rowan sets out to avenge her birth mother's untimely death. The young witch is willing to do anything to eliminate anyone who dares to try to come between her and Dylan. Their whirlwind affair reveals several scandalous secrets that threaten to destroy the already-dysfunctional Dalton family.

BLOG TOUR: Flower Child visits the World Weaver

Two excerpts from Flower Child are posted on Minnette Meador's World Weaver blog today at http://minnettemeador.blogspot.com/2011/10/welcome-to-sheila-deeth.html.

You'll find that Minnette's a wonderful world-weaver if you click on her books page while you're  there: http://minnettemeador.blogspot.com/p/books-by-minnette.html, and her worlds span a wealth of places and times. Roman Britain comes to life in The Centurion and the Queen, The Edge of Honor, and the newly released Gladiator Prince. There's epic fantasy in Starsight I and II (with a prequel and sequel promised), and a Ghost of a Chance (released in June) offers sensuously amusing and scary urban fantasy.

With the Bell Stalker coming soon as well, Minnette's seriously busy and I'm thrilled she took time out to fit my blog tour into her schedule! You'll be thrilled too if you read all the excerpts and blurbs on her site.

Hope to see you over there!

BLOG TOUR: Flower Child and the Mongrel Christian Mathematician visit Glenda Bixler today

I hope you're having a wonderful Sunday. I'm running around in real and cyber-space in many different directions with The Flower Child Blog Tour today.

My Goodreads Q&A continues at http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/678175-q-and-a-with-author-sheila-deeth. Join the conversation and ask your questions there.

Meanwhile Wordstock continues in downtown Portland--I'll be manning my own small table from 3 till 5 after spending yesterday afternoon enjoying the ambiance and listening to speakers. If you're near the Convention Center, drop in and say Hi.

And...
My cyber-self is visiting Glenda Bixler at http://gabixlerreviews-bookreadersheaven.blogspot.com/2011/10/welcome-to-flower-child-blog-tour.html, where I explain what I mean by calling myself a Mongrel Christian Mathematician.

If that's not enough, you can get an advance look at tomorrow's blog-tour stop and the chance to read an excerpt from Flower Child on Minnette Meador's wonderful World-Weaver blog http://minnettemeador.blogspot.com/2011/10/welcome-to-sheila-deeth.html.

Hope to see you somewhere in real or cyber-space!
And have a wonderful Sunday!

BLOG TOUR: Goodreads Q&A

Today I'm on Goodreads, answering questions about my background, my writing and whatever else anyone chooses to ask. I'd love to meet you there. http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/678175

Meanwhile, in the real world, I'm heading off to Wordstock in Portland, looking forward to some great talks by great writers, and hoping to pick up some good books at the same time. Tomorrow I'll even be manning my own two feet of stall-space on the Willamette Writers' stall, so, if you live near Portland, why not come and see me and my books. Then you can ask those goodreads questions in person.

See you in real or cyber-space... and have a great weekend!

BLOG TOUR: Visiting Cheryl Masciarelli

The Flower Child Blog Tour will stop at CMash loves to read today, at http://cmashlovestoread.blogspot.com/. Thank you so much for inviting me CMash! Readers will even have a chance to win a pdf copy of Flower Child, so go on over there and see what it's all about!

CMash runs a beautiful blog with book reviews, giveaways, guest authors, challenges and more. I shall certainly be visiting there more often now I've met her, and I'm really grateful to have her support in my first ever blog tour.

Meanwhile, here are links to some of my more recent book reviews, with coffee recommendations of course:

Legend Unborn, the Key of Souls, book1, by David G. Welsh: A fantasy with fearsome monsters, English accents and well-placed humor, book 1 introduces a host of characters taking their separate journeys and leaves the reader eager to find book 2. Drink a 2-star bright lively coffee with this one.

Say a Little Prayer, by Catherin Cavendish: A modern fantasy with friendly ghosts, delightful accent and tone as the legends of the music scene gather to answer a lonely woman's prayer. Perfect to read over lunch with a 1-star light crisp coffee.

Eminent Domain, by Tit Elingtin and Erin O'Riordan: An modern urban tale of a man trapped by the law of eminent domain, and the wife who supports him. But final straws can break many backs. You'll want a 5-star bold dark intense coffee with this detailed intense tale.

and finally two really fun puzzle books:
100 Puzzle Quizzes, and 101 Puzzle Quizzes, by the Grabarchuk Family: Definitely fun, definitely addictive, a great mix of challenging and not so challenging puzzles that you can carry around anywhere and enjoy anywhen on your kindle. To be enjoyed with a 1-star light crisp coffee (you'll need to stay fully awake to solve the puzzles).

BLOG TOUR: Pat Bertram interviews Megan from Flower Child

Pat Bertram interviews Megan from Flower Child on her blog today http://patbertram.wordpress.com/2011/10/05/megan-hero-of-flower-child-by-sheila-deeth/ with another excerpt from Flower Child posted on http://dragonmyfeet.wordpress.com/2011/10/05/flower-child-by-sheila-deeth-excerpt-2/. I'll hope to see you (in both places), and don't forget to leave your own interview questions too--though I'm sure you'll find the ones Pat asks are delightfully searching and satisfying.

Afterwards, why not visit the Second Wind Publishing site to find out more about Pat's books:

Light Bringer: Becka Johnson, mysteriously abandoned as a child has come home to Colorado in search of her identity. Meanwhile Philip Hansen is being chased by strangers. A relationship grows, as does a field of glorious flowers.

Daughter am I: Mary Stuart inherits her grandparents farm--all well and good except if they've only just died, why did Mary's father tell her they were dead before she was born? A feisty crew of delightful octogenarians help solve the mystery and fill the novel with stories, character and hope.

More Deaths than One: Bob buried his mother, went to SE Asia for 18 years, came home and heard his mother had just died. There's got to be something wrong with that, and it's got to be one of the best starts ever to a mystery novel. I love this book.

And, finally, A Spark of Heavenly Fire: Disease ravages a town in Colorado, and a middle-aged woman searches for life, meaning and love in unexpected places.
