I Broke the Sky – Я небо разбила
Here's video of another of my favorite Russian pop songs: "I Broke the Sky" by Reflex.
Here are the translated lyrics (courtesy of Google Translate and pesnihi.com):
Go, do not remember, do not even try to
Dial your number to say goodbye
Tablets before bedtime, in the head gap
Thrown to the winds all that would
Do what you want
I'm so pretty
Leave not to remember
I will not hurt
Chorus:
I did not star star
I broke the sky
My tears are not tears
Why I love
I did not star star
I broke the sky
My tears are not tears
Why I love
Leave, not to remember, but do not stay
Forget your number, and to admit
Nothing doing, the emptiness in his hands
And whistles heart beats in your phone
You live not knowing
access is disabled
I'm just another
But not everyone has forgotten
Chorus:
I did not star star
I broke the sky
My tears are not tears
Why I love
I did not star star
I broke the sky
My tears are not tears
Why I love

Orange Sun – Оранжевое солнце
One of the things many people don't know about me is that I took Russian in college. I also sang in BYU's Russian choir for two years. I don't remember many words, but I can still read Cyrillic well enough to sound words out. Back in 2008, I started listening to Russian music to get me in the mood to write a Moscow nightclub scene for a novel, and ended up liking it so much that most of the music I listen to now is in Russian.
Anyway, I thought it might be fun to share some of my favorites, so I tried finding some of them on YouTube. Here's one I've been listening to a lot recently: "Orange Sun" by Kraski.
Here are the translated lyrics (courtesy of Google Translate and nomorelyrics.net):
Orange sun!
We draw a colorful picture
We dance for fun plate
The questions we will always find the answers
We do not need your advice adult
We are, we understand each other,
we play or who do not notice
Above the sky above the sun's fly away
And the palms of our lift to the stars.
Chorus:
Orange sun in the clouds
Orange Sky on the hands,
Orange songs on zamley,
Orange you happy with us.
Orange sun in the clouds
Orange Sky on the hands,
Orange songs on zamley,
Orange you happy with us.
Orange sun!
Our colors, brighter colors of the world
Our fairy tale like adults and children
Today we will smile with you
All the color the only bright colors
We play, we understand each other,
We dance no notice
Above the sky above the sun's fly away
And the palms of our lift to the stars!
Chorus:
Orange sun in the clouds
Orange Sky on the hands,
Orange songs on zamley,
Orange you happy with us.
Orange sun in the clouds
Orange Sky on the hands,
Orange songs on zamley,
Orange you happy with us.
Orange sun!
Orange sun!
Chorus:
Orange sun in the clouds
Orange Sky on the hands,
Orange songs on zamley,
Orange you happy with us.
Orange sun in the clouds
Orange Sky on the hands,
Orange songs on zamley,
Orange you happy with us.
Orange sun!
Orange sun!
Orange sun!
Orange sun!
Orange sun!

"The Steel Throne" Coming to Inboxes Tonight
My short story "The Steel Throne" should arrive late tonight for subscribers to Daily Science Fiction. If you're not yet a subscriber, I recommend signing up, because they're publishing a lot of stories I like (and I don't just mean mine.)
If you're a loser who doesn't subscribe (Seriously, it's free, so what's stopping you?), you'll still be able to read my story next week, when it comes out on the website.

InterGalactic Awards
The first InterGalactic Medicine Show Awards Anthology is out, and my story "The Robot Sorcerer" is in it.
My story did not win an InterGalactic award, because it came out before the award was instituted. (Notice how confident I am that it would have won an award, had it existed at the time.) But I'm very happy to be included with the winners and other great authors. The full list of stories is:
"Trinity County, CA" by Peter S. Beagle, from issue #18
"Sister Jasmine Brings the Pain" by Von Carr, from issue #17
"The Ghost of a Girl Who Never Lived" by Keffy R. M. Kehrli, from issue #19

The anthology is available from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and probably your local bookstore, if you ask them nicely.
