BOOK and CRIME TALK is Back on Blog Talk Radio!

IndieMadness

I’ve recently activated my Blog Talk Radio Show BOOK & CRIME TALK this year! I took a longer leave of absence than expected and I apologize to listeners. I created this show to highlight thriller/mystery authors and individuals who work in and around in the criminal justice arena. Two of the hottest topics are books and crime!

I wanted the first show back to be big – I mean really BIG! I’ve been fortunate to have met and networked with some awesome authors, so I had an idea to have an open dis...

How Scared Do You Really Want To Be?

WomanScared_GettyImages

We have all heard of Type A Personalities. You know the type – those who are a headstrong and driven, and at times overbearing. But what about Type T Personalities? According to the American Psychological Association, psychologists have studied certain individuals called “Type T” or “thrill-seeking” personalities. This got me to thinking…

I’m guilty of loving scary movies and horror novels. In fact, I go as far as turning off every light in my house (and outdoors as well), turn up the volume,...

Examples of Courage and Quick Thinking during Terrifying Moments

crime-scene-pic

There was an amazing story that came out of Michigan last week that has made national news. It was an event that involved a great deal of tragedy but also offered examples of bravery, clear thinking, and strangers helping one another.

A woman was abducted from the Central Michigan University campus late Wednesday night by a 30-year-old man with previous prison time named Eric Lee Ramsey.clip_image001 He took her to a home and sexually assaulted her and then, upon putting her back in his car, informed her t...

Father and Son Receive Same Sentence for Different Murders

handcuffed_man1

There are many parents who would be proud to have a child decide to follow in their footsteps. Carry on the family business, build upon a legacy of philanthropy, join the military . . . whatever it may be. But then there are instances in which sons choose the same path as their dads and the end results are just heartbreaking. This is certainly the case with the all too common problem of violent behavior being handed down from generation to generation.

Is There any Truth to those Things that go Bump in the Night?

FirstWatch_cov_ebook

I’ve always been drawn to scary movies and books. I enjoy sitting in the dark and watching one of the scariest movies I can find. I’m not exactly sure why, but only to say that it’s fun to be scared in a fictional sort of way. You would think that I would write books about ghosts and zombies instead of serial killers and police detectives. Well, I might just surprise you someday.

About six years ago, I moved into my current home located in a rural area. In the first week, the house made some r...

DNA under Fingernails Lead to Arrest in Decades-Old Cold Case

DNA_image

Every week seems to bring a new story of how advances in forensic technology are bringing closure to cold cases that had been held in police files without leads for ten years, twenty years, or longer. The scientific community and law enforcement are working together to bring closure to families who just a few years ago may have thought the ability to find justice for a loved one seemed nearly impossible.

In Santa Clara County, California, the decades-old murder investigation of 21-year-old Sab...

Social Media, Crime, Football, and a Small Town

Technology and the justice system have collided in an emotional and consequential way in the small steel town of Steubenville, Ohio. The series of events started with an alleged repeated rape of a sixteen-year-old girl from neighboring West Virginia, a crime for which two members of the beloved high school football team and others will be standing trial, and developed into a national story involving “hactivists” and some harsh criticisms for the police department.

Readers Have Spoken Loud and Clear – Top Blog Posts of 2012

SerialKillers_2

Thank you to everyone who has visited and subscribed to my blog – it doesn’t go unappreciated. When I first decided to create a blog, I was apprehensive at first. Well let’s get serious, I was terrified. I thought I’d be writing articles just for myself and no one would care about the posts I wrote, but I was pleasantly surprised.

I’ve grown to love writing posts about forensics, serial killers, and my writing adventures. I have plans for more fun articles about crime, writing, and of course f...

Take a Thrilling Leap into the Unknown and Celebrate!

2013

This is about the time that we take a good look at what we have done, what we want to do, make some plans or resolutions, and then we make a few changes for a brand new year. It is exciting, it can be somewhat terrifying, but overall it feels good to clean the slate and begin again. Along the way, we look at our blessings and take a moment to count them. I know I do.

You cannot look back and regret anything or worry about the future and what it might bring. It is a new year and the possibiliti...
