Some news about Exiles!

I just finished up the first round of edits on what used to be called Exiles. That was always a working title, and when the book is published this spring, it will have the title of 'Exodus.'

I'm pretty excited about this book. Working on the edits reminded me how much I love this story. I adore the main characters, Hank and Ian, and I am really looking forward to sharing their journey with all of you. Plus, we get some glimpses of characters from Angel 1089 as well.

It's also gotten me motivated on working on the third book in the Heaven Corp series. Right now I've just started jotting notes, but I'm optimistic:)

Video for today

It's Monday and I nearly forgot to post this week's Sesame Street video!

You know, I didn't like Elmo until I had a toddler. But I'm an old school Goo Goo Dolls fan, and I can't help loving this one, especially how the serious John Rzeznik is while the other guy is cracking himself up.

Your Monday morning video

Going to try to make this a tradition. This is from Sesame Street's new season. It's rather emotionally packed for a skit aimed at preschoolers:

Monday morning video

Having a toddler has led me to discover how simply wonderful Sesame Street is. Many of the videos work on several levels.

Anyway, so this video is sweet and I think it's an important message for a hectic Monday Morning:

Welcome back

Well, I'm kinda welcoming myself back. I'd decided at the beginning of summer to take a little break from writing. I spent the past few months reading anything I could get my hands on, which ended up including sci-fic, romance, literary fiction, and a lot of YA.

I think as a writer it's so important to read as much as possible. With my time so limited, I'd forgotten about that, and I think I suffered for it.

(If you want to see what I've been reading, please check out my goodreads page.)

So now that the school year has started back up again, I'm going to start writing again. I bought a new notebook (with an Avengers cover, of course) and I've broken a new pen out of its plastic house.

Time to write.

The Division release day!

The Division has been released! You can find it over at musapublishing.com!

I'm really excited about this book. It's been a long time in the making. It took several rewrites, a lot of sweat and tears, and some hard work from my editors as well.

The Blurb:

Socket and Valor have been best friends—and part time superheroes—for years. When an invasion force threatens the Earth, they form a team of heroes to face the threat.

Closeted media darling Valor has no idea that Socket has been nursing a crush on him since their high school days. When a buffer, grittier version of Socket emerges from one of the alien portals, Valor discovers his own attraction, but his refusal to out himself gets in the way of his and Socket’s budding intimacy.

The alternate Socket has his own agenda, however. One that doesn't include attachments or a team of do-gooders getting in his way.

Chapter 1

Drones surrounded Valor on all sides. The blinking red lights of their eyes stared him down. It was at times like this that he wished one of his powers included a way to blast a whole bunch of these metal tin cans out of orbit. He cracked his knuckles and made a “come on” gesture. Fists were just as good, especially when amplified by his super strength.

Of course, this time he didn’t have to take them all down by himself.

The hair on the back of his neck rose just before a bolt of lightning crackled through a row of the bots, blasting them out of his way and sending bits of charred metal skittering onto the tarmac. An invisible force tore through the sky, knocking down the ones left behind. There were only two people Valor knew capable of that.

“Hey, leave some for me!” Valor twisted in the air, feeling the currents shift like water around his body. He grinned at his new teammates, pleased with the backup.

“Relax, Muscles, the portal is still open. Plenty more where those came from.” Doc Lightning clenched her hands, powering up another blast. Sparks jutted out from between her fingers.

Beside her stood Mace and Jester, all in their matching black and gray costumes. Tiana protected their rear, sweeping away any drones that got close with her giant metal staff.

Dash sped onto the scene, so fast Valor didn’t even see which direction she came from.

“I pulled all the civilians to safety.”

“Good work, Dash!” Valor flashed his trademarked “V” salute at her.

They’d lucked out this time. The portal had opened up on the middle of an empty tarmac, and the only humans around had been the air traffic controllers. Valor always wanted to play with one of those light-up directional wands. Maybe later.

“Are you getting this, Socket?” Valor pressed his fingers against the tiny headset fitted into his ear. He didn’t need to—it automatically transmitted and received—but Valor just felt better when he did it. Unlike Socket, he wasn’t comfortable with technology.

“Loud and clear. Uniform cameras are working like a charm too. I got visuals on everything.” Socket was back at headquarters, directing from his computers. His powers didn’t lend themselves to battle. It was part of the reason he and Valor had decided they needed a team of superheroes to tackle the latest threat to the planet. “Are we ready to try the pulse beacon?”

That was another of Socket’s inventions. If it worked, it would close the interdimensional portal that had spat out these egg-shaped robots. In the six months since the attacks had begun, nothing short of time had been able to shut down the portals. If they actually succeeded in closing one, that would change the entire game.

“As good a time as any,” Valor decided. “Let’s do this. Come on guys, clear the area. We need a straight shot at the portal!”

It hovered in the sky—a red swirling mass of something that distorted the air around it. Drones shot out of it five at a time, spiraling out and attacking anything that moved. All of them were coming straight for Valor and his team.

It was time to put The Division to the test.

Some updates

So much for my resolve to blog more frequently...

Anyway! In less than two weeks, The Division will be released from Musa Publishing! I'm excited about this book, and I hope you all enjoy it. It's about superheroes!

In other news - I'm almost done with the 2nd draft of what I've been tentatively calling "Exiles" which is the sequel to Angel 1089. I'm really happy with this draft, too. I hope to be able to submit it in the next month or so, depending on how busy things get.

And then I want to start on something new for the summer. I might put up a poll for my options. I have so many ideas, and little time to write them all...

Pitchers and Catchers Reporting!

Spring training starts today! Hard to believe when we're still expecting snow up here, but yep, down in sunny Florida it's baseball season!

I ended up pre-ordering Thrown by a Curve by Jaci Burton, because, of course it's about baseball. It has nothing to do with the half-naked man in a baseball uniform on the cover...

It did get me wondering, however, if anyone knew of any m/m romances involving baseball? Please point me in the right direction!

I just signed a contract with Musa Publishing for my superhero novel, "The Division." I'm really quite excited about this! More details as they arrive.
