This Week’s Tent Show Radio: Lil’ Mike & Funny Bone
Check out Mike (Facebook / Instagram / Twitter / Threads) hosting Tent Show Radio. This week’s episode features Lil’ Mike & Funny Bone.
During intermission Michael Perry shares a humorous or heartfelt (or both) story drawn from his beloved books and offbeat life experiences.
Oklahoma City brothers Lil’ Mike and Funny Bone, together known as Mike Bone, travel the world as motivational speakers, dancers, and rappers. Though both brothers stand a little over 4 feet tall, what they lack in height they more than make up for with their talent and determination. Through their powerful & inspiring music the Pawnee nation brothers strive to be positive influences for youth, promoting that a positive attitude and hard work can make dreams come true, but getting to that point hasn’t been easy. From homelessness to gang violence, to “size-ist” discrimination, the brothers have hustled and flowed their way from nothing to something.
The brothers spent years making the rounds at clubs, casino’s, arena’s, and private parties as they developed their skills not just as rappers but as performance artists & motivational speakers. Through their years of hustling, they’ve produced all their music independently, got their songs on radio stations around the world, opened for internationally renowned artists, and have left their mark on popular culture with their unforgettable television appearances on programs such as America’s Got Talent and their recurring roles on Hulu’s hit series Reservation Dogs.

Michael Perry Joins Another Beer Podcast?!
Mike continues his campaign to become the Official Beer Podcast Spokesperson for teetotalers everywhere by joining Aaron Black of the BrewViews podcast courtesy of BA Brewing Company.
For episode 22, and the third Views on Tap episode, Aaron talked about NA beer and drinking culture with New York Times bestselling author, humorist, singer/songwriter, and radio show host, Michael Perry. How do you spice up an episode on NA beer? You bring on someone who has never drank a bit of alcohol in his life! But he does enjoy his NA beer. This made for some entertaining stories and conversation. Mike is originally from New Auburn, WI, which he so proudly points to on the map in the Facebook and Instagram episode post picture. His life, career, travels, and always being the sober person has given him some unique perspective and observations. Even if you care nothing about NA beer, you’ll want to check out this episode! This Week’s Tent Show Radio: Cloud Cult
Check out Mike (Facebook / Instagram / Twitter / Threads) hosting Tent Show Radio. This week’s episode features Cloud Cult.
During intermission Michael Perry shares a humorous or heartfelt (or both) story drawn from his beloved books and offbeat life experiences.
Minnesota’s Cloud Cult has a rich eleven-album history of bucking the mainstream music industry in favor of independently releasing music via their environmentally conscious record label Earthology Records. Hailed as one of the Top 10 Green Bands by Rolling Stone, the band’s philosophical lyrics and alternative-orchestral-folk-rock sound has been lauded by critics as “insane genius” (Pitchfork) and “an invocation of the lifeforce” (New York Times). Cloud Cult began as Craig Minowa’s solo studio project after the unexpected loss of his son and has grown to the present day with an evolving lineup of incredible musicians. Known for incorporating live painting into their concerts, Cloud Cult are pioneers of multimedia artistry, most recently highlighted with the feature film release of The Seeker – starring Josh Radnor & Alex McKenna – which accompanied the band’s 2016 album, landed the group on Entertainment Weekly’s Must List, and garnered prestigious awards on the indie film festival circuit.
This episode features recordings from Cloud Cult’s 2022 performance at Big Top Chautauqua.

Forty Acres Deep on the 8 O’Clock Buzz Radio Show
A while back, Michael Perry returned to chat with Andy Moore on the “8 O’CLOCK BUZZ” radio program on WORT-FM in Madison, WI. They discussed Michael’s sleeper hit novella, Forty Acres Deep.
Forty Acres Deep tells the story of Harold, a Wisconsin farmer burdened with a recent devastating loss, and his attempt to save the remains of his farm after a record-breaking snowfall. Andy and Mike delved into Harold’s simultaneously heavy and uplifting story, Michael’s inspiration for the book, and how he managed to portray the plight of rural America, “in a timeless, yet time-running-out-way.”

The Town of Sam[p]son and the Long Beds
Whoa! Just came across this. Back when the Long Beds were “The Town of Sam[p]son.” (I’m from New Auburn but our farm was in the Town of Sampson.) Billy’s gone, those other two fellows are busy with other projects, but I’ll be playing Minneapolis with the contemporary Long Beds this coming Sunday, November 12, 2023. Click link for show details.

Walking the Dog, Country Style
Throwback Thursday, taking the dog for a walk. He was a good ol’ flop-eared mutt. Alfie, we called him. Or Alf. Unless I’m remembering that wrong, in which case I’ll be corrected at Thanksgiving. I was deep into my walking-around-with-my-shirt-off-too-much stage, the whole deal turbo-charged by the mustache/mullet combo.
