Swept Away
A lot of you have been wondering why I’ve been so quiet–and finally I can give you the answer! I have been working on a super-secret project — a contemporary suspense novel with lots of action and heat. It’s a serial novel, divided into four parts with the first part releasing on October 20 (the rest will follow in 2-week intervals). I am so excited and nervous about this project–just about everything involved in it is brand new for me!
I can’t share the cover yet–stay tuned for the big cover reveal on October 9! But in the meantime, parts 1 & 2 are up for preorder at Amazon:

Good News!
Hi everyone! I have two bits of great news this month!
First, THE ROGUE’S PROPOSAL is an RT Book Reviews Reviewer’s Choice Award Winner for Best Historical Romantic Adventure of 2013.
Second, THE ROGUE’S PROPOSAL was nominated for the prestigious RITA Award for best historical romance of 2013.
My books have been nominated for RT Awards 5 times and I’ve never won before. I thought I’d always be the bridesmaid, never the bride. 
And to be nominated for a RITA…just…wow! I never, ever thought that would happen. It’s so exciting!

The Remix is my first contemporary romance. It’s a series of novellas about seven friends who get together for an annual reunion on the private island of Sugar Cay. Happy New Year
I hope you all have a wonderful 2014! I have lots of exciting news for 2014, and I’m going to be a very busy writer, but that’s okay, because it’s what I love to do. First off is my sexy & sweet contemporary romance, THE REMIX… This release is so exciting to me, because it’s the first contemporary romance. Then after that, ONE NIGHT WITH AN EARL in April, then THE SCOUNDREL’S SEDUCTION in May, NEVER LET ME GO in June…and hopefully more as the year goes on. It’s going to be such an exciting year! HAPPY 2014 EVERYONE!

The Road to USA Today
When Randi Alexander asked me to be a part of the steamy romance box set A NAUGHTY LITTLE CHRISTMAS, I knew it would be a good thing. The problem was, the only holiday-themed books I have I couldn’t use, because a publisher owns their rights.
But I was determined! I had a feeling in my gut that I didn’t want this opportunity to pass. I took an older self-published book I had written under the Dawn Halliday name that was already close to being a Christmas story, and I revised it to add a bit more holiday spirit. It was a busy few weeks revising that book, including an unplanned hospital visit, and I made Randi’s deadline in the nick of time!
A NAUGHTY LITTLE CHRISTMAS is an anthology consisting of 8 independently published stories written by 8 different authors. I think part of the appeal to readers is that they’re so different, ranging from very short to category-length, and they’re all in different romance genres (contemporary, historical, paranormal). But they all have a unifying theme—Christmas.
We went in with the goal to sell as many books as possible before Christmas, so we set the price at the extreme discount of $0.99, planning to raise the price at a later date.
When we put the box set up, we did very well in sales for the first 2 weeks—but not well enough to make a list. We advertised it on our own, and we hired the fantastic promo whiz, Laurie Cooper, to help. It was a flurry of blog posts, Facebook posts, Twitter posts, ads, you name it!
The box set ranked high on Amazon those first two weeks, but not high enough to hit any lists. We were just debating raising the price of the set when we noticed a jump in sales. Maybe all our promo in those first two weeks was having an effect!
Sales kept sloooowly rising that third week until they were so close to making a list we could feel it in our bones. We knew the sales were great that week, but you never know when it comes to the bestseller lists—the numbers can fluctuate widely every week. I was so excited and nervous I felt like I was going to burst. Would we make it or wouldn’t we?
And then, on the Wednesday after week three, the USA Today bestseller list was released. We’d made it! We were all so very thrilled. Now we can each say we’re USA Today bestselling authors (in my case, Dawn Halliday can say so!).
How did it happen? I think it was about giving readers what they wanted in the right place at the right time at a fantastic deal. Not every box set makes a list, not every romance anthology makes a list, not every Christmas collection makes a list. But somehow the spirit of the holidays was kind to us this year and helped the eight of us to become bestsellers.
Hitting a bestseller list is a dream come true for any author, and we’re all so thankful and feel so blessed that readers seem to love this set so much.
