This new edition (with a foreword by Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Éstes, Women Who Run with the Wolves) is an immensely influential book that gives voice to Mexic-Amerindian women silenced for hundreds of years by the dual censorship of being female and brown-skinned. Castillo introduced the term “Xicanisma” to replace “Chicana feminism,” including mestiza women on both sides of the border.
