Crazy Vampire Life Guest Blog with Maya DeLeina

Erotic Vampire Author Maya DeLeina here, welcoming all to my guest blog post.

My crazy vampire life

I love anything and everything Vampire. Dark gothic imagery gets my heart pumping. Black leather, lace and corsets are a must in my daily attire. Men with muscular physiques, pale skin and a downright right bad-boy look makes me weak in the knees.

Well, when you are born and raised in Hawaii, the surroundings don't particularly lend themselves to delve deep into these dark passions. I lived in perpetual sunshine. Can't really have a delicious fantasy of a sexy male vampire brushing up against me unless I want to also imagine 3rd degree burns from him bursting into a bonfire. And amongst the sea of tanned men in surfer shorts, it's hard to imagine that pale naughty-looking man standing there totally rocking that biker look I thirsted for. Lastly, swaying palm trees and crystal blue waters—yeah, those are the makings of dark gothic imagery.

I think not.

And what about the Leather, lace and corsets you ask? Let's not even go there. Ever try putting some leather on while sweating? Not a pretty picture. If anyone was a fan of "Friends", think back to Ross using baby powder to slip his leather pants on…

The moment I relocated to Colorado, my love for vampires rekindled and my passion never burned brighter. The setting was just perfect; the cold, misty mountaintops, creepy graveyards, enchanting forests and howling creatures in the woods. Add to all of this the fact that I moved to Manitou Springs, a town rumored to have wizards, witches and vampires and I just couldn't help but becoming an Erotic Vampire Author.

The town is widely known for their mineral springs that are said to have healing powers. Spigots are situated along streets that allow travelers to take in the flavor of the different springs and test the magical powers for themselves. I would say the town is a free-spirited, but I have seen and heard some strange stuff to admit that this reputation has no merit.

Don't believe me? Check out this post:

"It's the strangest place I have ever been to. There are witches, warlocks and wizards all over the place as well. If you do some researching on Manitou Springs you will find things such as blood drinking vampires and child sacrifices scattered throughout the history of the area."- http://www.generalforum.com/travel/ma...

Alright, child sacrifices are bit of a stretch. But with the town holding annual Coffin races through the streets, having a 500-million-year old underground world as a major tourist attraction, a haunted cemetery and fabled underground tunnels—who could blame anyone for having that kind of take on the town?

I didn't have to look far for my setting for the setting of my Vampire book series.

The Ambrose Heights Vampires Series:

The Ambrose Heights Vampires (AHV) is set in Manitou Springs. Ambrose Heights is the gated community that sits hit up on the mountain, overlooking the town. The town's residents don't quite know what to make of the mysterious neighborhood. If they did some investigation, they would realize what they were living among.

After all, Ambrose translates to Immortal.

AVH is slated for seven installments where characters from each book will weave their way in and out of the stories of each book. If you are one bit curious about Manitou Springs, you can guess that the series is packed with adventure, mystery, naughty sex and imagery and tales that can only be Manitou Springs.

What else Maya?

Here is what I have going on for the 2011-2012 horizons:

Book 2 of the Ambrose Heights Vampires series. A collection of Vampire short stories Book 3 of the Ambrose Heights Vampire series.

Tonight, Rain Calisto searches for her man, and Rhys Matthews comes into focus. He is well-built and sinisterly sexy. In the same Denver nightclub, Armand Anastasio searches for his woman—Rain.
But the men are more than gorgeous.
They are vampires, and they are unmated.
A chance encounter lands Rhys and Rain together. Their attraction remains undeniably powerful and they fall prey to lust. With each passionate tryst, Rhys senses a connection that goes beyond the flesh. Unbeknownst to Rhys, Rain is a diabetic. Her insulin alters her biological makeup, disguising a revelation he isn't quite prepared for.
Rain is Rhys's fated mate.
As they struggle with this knowledge, another bombshell is dropped. Rain's insulin-laced tissue creates a rare vampiric blood that can fetch a hefty profit, and Armand has always known this.
Is his attraction to Rain genuine, or is he just out for her blood?
This is the diary of Rain and Rhys.
Recorded here is their transformation from a flesh fantasy to eternal love.

Nightingale Tour Party and Giveaway

I love connecting with readers, especially new ones. That's why I'm glad to talk about my new book, Nightingale , my mundane reality (which is littered with quirks) and my upcoming projects with all of you and Bewitching Book Tours.

So what's Nightingale about? It's a different spin of faeries, vampires, and werewolves—where vampires suffer from a form of anemia, faeries are a pain, and werewolves work in the FBI. This book, the first in my Nocturne Series, puts an interesting spin on vampire tales and presents a new problem: how can you be sidhe and not have a heartbeat?

Life is lucrative and easy for Dr. Grace Caldwell--daughter of vampire father and fey mother--until her ex-boyfriend, FBI agent Jack Montgomery, blackmails her into helping him solve a prostitute's murder. If only she wasn't as attracted to Jack as ever, she could concentrate on finding the murderer and get back to her regularly scheduled life. And then there's the vampire Constantine, seductive and powerful, a family friend she's supposed to marry...

Not much of a vampire, and clueless about her fey powers--if she has any--Grace must journey to the Sidhe and enlist the help of the fey to unravel the riddle of the murder. She and Jack might just get killed, but then, two worlds depend on her success. If she fails, both her worlds and all of humanity will descend into chaos of epic proportions.

A little about me? Well, I'm writer, nurse, and all around miscreant (just kidding about that last part…or am I?). I run —training to complete my first half marathon—because I love to bake, and investigate the paranormal as regular hobbies. I'm more than a tad obsessed with Doctor Who (I've seen all 46 years worth of episodes and maintain that Tom Baker and David Tennant are two of the best doctors of all time). And though I grew up on a farm in Southern California, I now call the Upper Midwest home, as I occupy the wilds of Northern Minnesota. If you're a fan of old black and white films, and film noir, you may notice a bit of the old noir qualities in my writing. I'd like to think I make Bogey proud.

Obsessed Tour Party

It doesn't feel like such a long time ago since I was touring my novel The Banishing, and yet here I am again, working with Fang-tastic Books for my second novel, Obsessed. I thought I would kick start the week-long tour by telling you a little about my new release.

When I wrote Obsessed, I knew that I was going to find it a challenge – for many reasons. Not only does the story deal with some tricky and heavy subjects (suicide, post-traumatic stress, therapy), it also delves into the art of ghost-story telling; a creative aspect I have loved and been enchanted by since childhood. Susan Hill's The Woman In Black remains, to this day, one of my all-time favourite novels – the beauty of that ghost story has captivated me since my first read of it, back in the 1980's. I longed to do something like that – bring to life the ghosts that sneak into shadows and whisper in darkened corridors. Writing a ghost story, simply put, was an ambition of mine.

Obsessed is that ghost story.

It's a story about a haunting, of a young man called James Barker. Not only does James see and hear visions of a man who is supposed to be dead and buried, he begins to suspect he has become entangled into a web of danger and lies through being touched by the supernatural entity. He begins to question his sanity, the validity of his ghostly visitor. It is up the reader to ask of themselves – is the ghost James is seeing real, or is it merely the result of a tired and unstable mind?

October, I hope, is the perfect month for a ghost story. I hope that being released so close to Halloween, that Obsessed can be enjoyed with the backdrop of dark, cold evenings, lanterns and ghostly decorations. It is, I believe, an atmospheric story, one that seems to draw it's readers in. This, though, is truly for you to judge. If you feel you want to give Obsessed a read, you can find either eBook or paperback copies online at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, The Book Depository or www.damnationbooks.com Many local book stores can also order copies in. Thanks for reading, and I hope you follow me on my blog stops this week!

Finding Love in All the Wrong Places Guest Blog and Giveaway with Terry Spear

But what if the place is all right, but the time is really out of sync?

Have you ever been somewhere that it's the right place, wrong time?

I had nightmares about missing classes in college because I'd be in the right place, but wrong time and miss a test. Or show up at the right time, wrong place.

But what if you went to your favorite spot and woke up in another century? Two centuries earlier?

How would you cope with it?

How about: DISBELIEF?

Time travel is NOT possible. So I'm not here in the past. Everything is set up to be this way for a reason.

Or: I'm dreaming. And I can't wake from the dream.

Next: ACCEPTANCE?

Okay, somehow I'm here and I've got to get back to where I belong. Pronto. Or I'll mess up the timeline continuum and really screw things up. What if I did something that ended up wiping out my existence in the future?

Next: THE WHAT IFS?

What do I do if I CAN'T get back? How can I cope? Live in a world so foreign to me?

Next: THE DECISION?

Go back, stay.

THAT is the question.

Every time I visited Salado, Texas, I was drawn to the question of what would a woman do who was from the present who ended up in the past? How would she react? What would it be like for her back then?

Of course, we'll never know exactly what it would be like living in the past—the hardships, the constant toil, the missing conveniences we take for granted today. I know, because when my Internet is out and then the electricity is on the blink due to a storm, I'm unable to do anything! And I realize just how much not having these conveniences is…inconvenient. But compound that 100-fold with no running water and no car, and no stores to shop at for all kinds of anything-we-want-readymade items, no cell phones, and well…it's unimaginable. Really.

Why would ANYONE in their right mind want to give up all of that for all the hardships?

We have to suspend disbelief and believe in romance and fantasy and the fantastical.

Oh, sure, you're saying no way, Jose! But really. Love transcends all time. We could fall in love with someone in the past just as we could fall in love with someone today.

What if that someone we found in the past is THE ONE? What if we never could find someone who makes us feel as he does? Would we give him up to have all the conveniences in the world?

I just watched The Company Men and how one of the men has lost his job and he believes everything he is, is tied up into his job persona and his paycheck. He's forgotten the roots of his existence. The love of his wife and children. His connection to the downhome world. Everything is money and stuff. The fancy cars, the golf club membership, you name it…all stuff.

When times get really tough, can you give it all up? You'd have to. What if you had someone to love who loved you back with all his heart? Would you give it all up to find your roots and live a simpler life?

That's what Lisa must decide in A GHOST OF A CHANCE AT LOVE!

Excerpt from A GHOST OF A CHANCE AT LOVE

When she entered the hotel lobby, she felt like she'd stepped into a nineteenth century movie set. A woman wearing a blue dress reaching her ankles pushed a woven wicker buggy toward Lisa. A bustle attached in the back of the woman's dress accentuated her figure from behind, and Lisa wondered how she could sit down in that contraption. A chenille hairnet confined her mousy brown hair beneath an ivory hat dripping with dyed ostrich feathers. She returned Lisa's stare. Her brows lifted slightly.

Lisa smiled, figuring the woman must have been part of the hotel staff, although she hadn't recalled anyone dressing that way the night before. "I love your dress."

"Why, thank you, Miss."

Unable to resist a closer look, Lisa leaned over the buggy, wishing things had worked out with Tom, and she could have had their very own baby to care for in a year or so like they'd so often discussed. A white lacy bonnet covered the baby's brown fuzzy head, her face cloaked in sleep.

"She's adorable."

"He's my son," the woman said softly.

Lisa stared at the lace-trimmed gown the baby wore. "Oh, sure." Her skin warmed with embarrassment, but heck, the baby looked like a girl in a gown. "He's really sweet."

Another thought occurred to her. Why would a lady on the hotel staff drag a baby around with her?

Maybe an old time arts and crafts fair was scheduled and the woman served as one of the vendors? The Highlander fair was scheduled for next weekend. Maybe this was a Victorian fair.

Lisa glanced around the lobby. High back chairs with wide-winged arms and curved loveseats covered in rich burgundy and green brocades, fit the nineteenth-century décor that looked similar to the antique furniture her grandmother had willed to her.

The cowboy she'd collided with in the hall outside her room entered the lobby. She thought he tried to appear inconspicuous about looking for her, but was doing an awful job of it because as soon as he saw her, his haunted eyes caught her gaze, and he turned away.

***

Jack's already been in her bed once…by accident. What would it take to keep him there?

What would YOU do to keep him there?

Thanks so much for Roxanne for having me on her blog!

FrightCatalog.com Review

So I've done a lot of Halloween costume shopping- I'm pretty sure I've hot every store in my area and all the online stores.
And out of all of them FrightCatalog.com has the absolute hugest selection of costumes anywhere.
They offered me the chance to pick a costume for review and it took me and my girls forever to choose a costume because there were so many to choose from.
Finally 2 days later my daughter in law to be choose the Air Force Angel.
This cute costume includes the Jumpsuit, Hat, Belt.
The Dog tags, gloves and shoes not included.

It looks absolutely adorable on her. She's got the body for it. One thing she doesn't like is that it tight in the crotch. Of course she's 5'9" and half of that's leg so that's to be expected. I'm sure if she stretches it out a bit she'll be OK.

Character Interview and Giveaway with Su Halfwerk

Interviewing Andrew Taylor of Seeker
We have a very special guest today.
Andrew, the hero in Seeker—Book 1 of the paranormal romance series Unsettled by Su Halfwerk—has graciously agreed to sit for an interview with me. You will get a glimpse of Andrew's personality and will get to know a bit about Seeker.
The interview takes place right before the start of a movie premiere he's attending.
****

Andrew, thank you for visiting with us today. Please tell us about yourself. Where do you live and how do you relate to the whole setting of Seeker.
My residence is in Santa Clarita, but my job as a lead actor takes me all over the globe.

I understand that you star in romantic movies. With your height and physique, I would peg you as action movies type.

*Andrew smiles* Height and physique don't do much if the actor lacks the willingness or the skill to carry that look. I'm very relaxed in my life which won't support that image of me. No, I'm happy starring in romantic movies.

You have an entourage of guards around you wherever you go, that's hardly a relaxed life.
My guards are my wall of privacy; they block curious eyes from interfering in my business. And it's hardly an entourage. I have four bodyguards in total who work shifts.

What can you tell us about the latest addition to your team of bodyguards?
Adoria? She's a very efficient and valued addition. I hired her initially because of a lawsuit but she has proven her worth more than once. She's focused on her duty even though she possesses a softness about her that makes me feel safe when she's around my son.

Talking about safety, why are there so many attacks on your life?
One was a mugging that went wrong and the other a misunderstanding. Hardly organized crimes.

The night is still young. Moving on, are you an introvert or extrovert? What stresses you and what makes you relax?
There's no space for introverts in acting. I'm definitely an extrovert. Unfairness and loss of rights stress me. Any activity involving my son or my staff relaxes me. I'm like an open book with others.

Funny you mentioned that. There are whispers that you're more than what meets the eye. Is there a secret in your life that nobody knows about?
*Andrew frowns* What whispers? And no, I have no secrets. What you see is what you get with me.

If you were granted three wishes, what would you ask for?
Privacy, safety for my family and staff. I do care about people who are loyal to me.

Perhaps you care for some members of your staff more than others?

I have a feeling you're hinting at someone specific.
Yes, Adoria.
*Andrew waves a hand* Although she's new, she has saved my life more than once. Besides, even though I'm not a chauvinist, I can't help but pay more attention to her wellbeing since she's the only woman in my security team. Aren't you going to ask me about my girlfriend?
You mean Megan? No, Adoria is more interesting.
*Andrew huffs*

How would you describe yourself as a boss?
I don't view my position as higher than them. They have their jobs and I have mine. I think I treat them fairly, keeping in mind that they are human with their own needs.
*He glances at his watch and smiles* The movie is about to start. We better wrap up.

There are all kinds of rumors around and about you. Some even hint at an alter ego with super powers. Care to comment?
Yes. Look at how busy my life is. Do you think I have the time to do anything else but live it? As for super powers, this is reality, not some comic book. *sniggers* If I had a super power, one at least, I wouldn't be tolerating many things that go on in my life.

How do you fall in love? At first sight? Over a long period?
I haven't timed it, but I think love at first sight involves admiring the appearance, while the one that grows over a long period of time is about knowing that person. My answer is that I fall in love at first sight and let it mature over a period of time.

When you met Adoria, for example, the first time, what was the first thing you noticed about her?
All of her. *clears throat* I pay attention to details. It's not like I gave her any special treatment.

How do you decide if you can trust someone?
I don't decide it, I let time show me the true color of anyone I meet.

What are you most proud of about your life?
My son. He's my soul. After that comes my career which is a result of hard work and dedication.

Which career are we talking about?
Acting, of course. What else?

Describe your ideal mate.
Independent, graceful, smart, funny, and adores children. She must be someone who can live with the type of job I hold.

What job is that?
*huffs* Acting!

What are you most afraid of?
Right now, I'm afraid I'll miss the movie. Now, if you'll excuse me, I think the movie is about to start and I don't want to disappoint the movie's leading actor by missing on it. Maybe we can continue this interview at a later time. Call my publicist and schedule another one, okay? *He rises*

Andrew smiles as he exits the room as though he won. I think we got more from his evasive answers than he thinks.
Don't you think?

Seeker
By Su Halfwerk
Genre: sweet paranormal romance

Blurb:

The only obstacle in his quest is his heart.

Andrew Taylor has it all. A flourishing acting career, a stunner of a model as a girlfriend, and a countenance that swoons women right into his arms.

Except, this is not the only life he's living. He is also a Spirit Hunter tormented by the murder of his wife and daughter and destined to hunt rogue spirits, seeking the one who destroyed his family. Even if that means repressing his needs.

Adoria Hall's life is turned upside down after an unfair layoff from her job.

Financial pressures force her to accept babysitting a spoiled actor like Andrew. Or so she thinks, until she discovers a lonely heart beating beneath his glamorous façade. Protecting Andrew's life from harm is her duty, safeguarding her heart is her compulsion.

When the spirits drive the war to Andrew's turf, he must confront his key enemy to settle the score. Yet, if forced to pick, will Andrew choose to exorcise the one he seeks or will he opt to protect the one he adores?
