Word Count: 20,000
Cover Artist: Erin Dameron Hill
Book Description:
He always wanted a bear to keep him warm at night…
Lane knows want he wants in a lover, but hasn’t been able to find the perfect bear of a man in his small Colorado hometown. So he turns to the Grizzly List, a regional personal ad service for bears and their lovers. He’s not sure what to expect when he meets Fin, but what he gets might be his perfect man.

Bear shifter Fin has been looking for someone with whom to spend his days, nights, and winter hibernation. He’s a happy guy, but needs someone who wants a big, burly, slightly dominant mate. When he meets Lane, Fin knows he’s found what he needs, but will he be able to convince Lane that they’re made for one another, in human form and bear?

Excerpt:
Bear wanted for cute bottom. Looking for 30-40yo bear, ddf, kind but firm. Seeking companionship/ relationship. Want to cook for you, cuddle, and explore physical possibilities. Hairy a must, uncut a plus. Send photos and response to inbox 4125.
Finley bit his lower lip, trying to decide if he should reply or not. He hadn’t had the world’s best luck with personal ads. This was his first try on the Grizzly List, which his friend Egan assured him would be way better than Craigslist. They specialized in getting bears together with men who loved them.Oh, it wasn’t that Fin didn’t want to have sex, but every ad he’d answered so far was just from someone who wanted a quick hookup, and they all wanted him to wear a leather harness and spank them. That was an awful lot of work. Fin liked the idea of cuddling, and of someone pampering him a little. God knew he loved to play the hot and heavy game, but that came later. He hoped the guy who placed this ad really liked to cook, and maybe knew how to make a honey cake.Oh, honey.Fin attached two pictures of himself from the neck down, with his swim trunks on, and added a tiny message. Love to cuddle, watch movies, hang out in the hot tub. Hairy, uncut, looking for long-term. Let’s meet. His cheeks heated just typing “uncut” but that was the truth, and what this cute guy seemed to want, so what the heck? Fin took a deep breath and hit send, because he’d left his phone number in there, too. Wow. Okay. Here went another try. He hoped it worked out better than the last few. If it didn’t, well, there was always hibernation.

Excerpt:
Worried about Hailey, exhausted to the bone, and slightly swaying, Brooke clung to Dwayne, took strength from this solid, very real protector. She would have to be dead not to notice his firm body beneath her fingertips, the hardness of his chest pressed to her breasts, and the wicked, clean scent drifting from his skin. While they were no longer hugging, but more her clinging to him, she didn’t want to turn away, couldn’t find the power to do so. How easy would it have been to end up with this man? She’d caught the looks he had given her before. But that had all been in the past, a separate life for them both. She had become a mother, someone who dedicated her entire being to making sure her daughter was well-rounded, cared for, and knowingly loved. Not only that, but she wasn’t a young pup any longer, and from the few women she’d seen Dwayne with, his type seemed to have a list of traits all very similar: young, perky breasts, tight asses, single, and free of major responsibilities. His hand tightened on her back and she held her breath, waiting to see if he would push her away.Just a few more minutes, please. She needed him, this close contact with another being. It had been so damn long.Hailey refused to slow down to cuddle on the couch as she had once done as a young girl. Her daughter had her own life now, one currently held in peril, but Brooke had faith they would find her. They had to. Failure wasn’t an option.Dwayne trailed his hand up her back and pressed a palm to her head, his other arm tightening around her waist. She went with the direction, pressed her face into his warm neck, and breathed. His skin emitted heat rivaling the summer’s sun. She grasped the back of his suit jacket, wishing she could be closer. He shifted their bodies, and her aggravation spun to something else. His lips brushed her temple, and moist air fanned across the side of her face. He hovered there. So close, all she had to do was turn her face and take his mouth. She knew he would let her, too.So near to him, starved for human contact, she wanted to get lost for a while. She trailed her nose along his neck, took another deep breath, and pressed closer. He grumbled something unintelligible, the sound coming from his chest more than his mouth. His hand at her waist laid flat on the small of her back and urged her closer still. The situation was moving fast out of control. Tendrils unraveled, but she was helpless to stop it. This strong male held her as if she were a treasure. He had the power and ability to make her forget everything, to make all the stresses and danger go away. His hand slipped beneath the back of her shirt and made direct contact with her skin. They both hissed and his breath pushed her hair from her face. His cruel yet sensual mouth continued to drift in a teasing caress across her temple. She turned her head, like molasses on a cold day, up and toward him. Her lips tingled in anticipation, waiting for his kiss. She brushed her mouth across the line of his jaw, a hairsbreadth from his skin. His heart thudded against hers, a matching hammer between their bodies, telling her he was just as affected. The hand at the back of her head tightened. She trailed the caress over his cheek; his lips were right there, centimeters away. The rest of their surroundings faded. She didn’t know if it was because of this man drawing her absolute attention, or because of her exhaustion. She touched the side of her mouth to his and thought she’d be prepared for the rush of desire.

Book Description:
Caution: The Gardinian World Novels are a trip into a paranormal world where the gods of Gardas are real, the sex can be downright raunchy, and more than a few four letter words litter the page.
Forged from a childhood filled with bloodshed and death, Trent had been raised with a blade in his hands. He lives the life of a warrior and carves through his enemies as if seeking redemption for his mother’s ultimate sacrifice. As the acting Mikko of the Order of Rockys, Trent leads the most dominant Lycans in the world. For that reason alone, he has no use or understanding for those who wallow in their vulnerabilities, rather than exercise their power over their own destiny.
Aryana doesn’t dream of everlasting love. Her life is ruled by a song that echoes from the halls of Oblivia, a fate that came to her under the thundering hooves of the Mares of Night. She is going to die, but with no clue as to when or why, Aryana is forced to do everything she can to negate the haunting words of fate,
“Weakness dies and you are weak.”
But the gods are merciless in their meddling in the lives of powerful mortals and the ones they love. How far will Trent have to fall for the weak female who steps in his life and claims his soul?

Aryana supposed she should be thankful that she at least got to know her Soul’s Mate. Many never were graced with the knowledge of what their mate’s soul looked like. At least she had that. If only she could live forever, know him forever. Love him forever. But her time on earth was measured in days, if not hours. She should get started memorizing every inch of the ones she loved so that they could ease her when she went to Gardas’ eternal embrace.

About the Author:
Kelsey Jordan is the author of The Gardinian World novels. Though she has a preference for all things paranormal and romantic, Kelsey admits she just writes what her muse demands of her. It’s less painful that way. When she isn’t enjoying the momentary benefits of playing god to the many characters that live in her head, she can usually be found curled up with a book, killing something in a video game, or spending time with her family. At some point in the day she is probably drinking more than her recommended dose of coffee, but don’t tell her that. She doesn’t care about recommended servings.
As a Texas native and self-described Air Force brat, Kelsey now lives in Georgia with her husband and their tutu-wearing minion. To learn more, visit her at

Hurricane of the Heart by Jewel Amethyst

Genre: Romance
Publisher: CaribbeanReads Publishing
Date of Publication: July 25, 2015
ISBN: 978-0-9964358-2-6
Number of pages: 292Word Count: 85,900
Book Description:
The Player
When Kyle agrees to be the best man at his best friend’s destination wedding in Dominica, he has one thing on his mind: partying. But all that changes when a powerful hurri¬cane strikes the island and he finds himself trapped in a vil¬lage and falling hard and fast for the indigenous beauty queen, Alia Graneau.
The Planner
Alia Graneau has goals that do not include men, least of all an immature, irresponsible American party-animal like Kyle. But the hurricane devastates more than her beautiful island; it wreaks havoc on her heart when she falls under Kyle’s spell and is forced to choose between her ambition, her love for her country and her love for Kyle Robinson.
Can their love, born in a hurricane, survive the ravages of real life?

Excerpt
Kyle and Alia gazed into each other’s eyes, smiling. Alia drew her eyes away and gazed up at the moon. The emotion she was experiencing was making her a little uncomfortable. Yes, it was gratitude, but there was something else underlying it. It was attraction, desire, and a kind of closeness she did not want to feel at this time.
Kyle’s voice was soothing when he spoke. “I looked at your well-groomed nails and hair and thought you were one of those ultra-feminine women who concentrated more on their appearance than on anything of substance. I was totally wrong.”
Alia smiled and looked down at the moist  ground.
He continued. “You are strong, determined and have a heart of gold. I never expected you to do all the things you did today. The way you got down and dirty and helped with the cleanup, the way you climbed through that tiny chimney. And then you put your own life in danger to save Teshawn’s life. I’ve gained a whole new perspective and a lot of respect for you.”
Alia kept her head down. She twirled a pebble between her fingers, her discomfort escalating. Her mind raced as she tried to make sense of all the emotions churning within   her.
Kyle placed his finger under Alia’s chin and lifted her face. He gazed into her dark brown tapered eyes and was captivated by her beauty. Her long hair flowed gently around her face. Her exotic eyes held a dreamy, sultry expression. Kyle stared at her, lost in her gaze, enthralled by her clear flawless skin, her high cheekbones, and those deliciously full sensuous lips. He whispered, “Alia, you are beautiful, on the outside and the inside.”
Alia felt her heart flutter, beating like a drum in her ears. She could hardly breathe as she gazed into his large light-brown eyes. She saw passion, desire, and felt herself slipping, falling into his romantic   trap.
Kyle touched her hair tentatively. It was soft and silky. The attraction for Alia was so strong it took his breath away. Slowly he lowered his face toward hers, his eyes never leaving hers. He saw in them longing, desire, and a vulnerability that was totally uncharacteristic of the super-composed Alia. His heart raced as his lips inched closer and closer.
Alia closed her eyes. Her mind was in turmoil. A day ago she had hated Kyle Robinson. Now here they were, on the verge of doing something she had never done before. She was confused, feeling things she should not be feeling. Not for Kyle, not for anyone at that point in her life. She felt helpless. Her mind was telling her not to do this, but her body was ignoring it. His hand in her hair, the other on her chin lifting it for his kiss felt so right.
Suddenly a moment of clarity ensued. This man would do anything and say anything to have a good time. What happens after the kiss? Sex? And then he would be gone from her life just as quickly as he had come.
Alia jumped up from the rock, leaving Kyle seated, a strange expression on his face. “This can’t happen,” she said before dashing off to the  house.
“Alia, wait!” Kyle called to her departing back as he stood up from the rock. He had no idea whether to chase after her or let her be. No woman had ever run away from him like that before. Kyle looked at Alia as she crossed the fence and headed for the house. “Man!” he exclaimed, kicking the rock he had been sitting on. He had come so close.
So close to what? A kiss? A one night stand? An ephemeral tryst? Kyle looked longingly at her disappearing back and realized one night with Alia would never be enough. She was the type of woman who would keep him wanting  more.

Interview and Giveaway-Beyond Heights and Depths by Christian Brown

Can you tell readers a little bit about yourself and what inspired to write in this particular genre?
My name is Christian Brown. I live in Hawaii, where I was born and raised. I’m an avid beach-goer. I surf, skim, body board, body surf, dive, and basically spend all my free time in or near water. I read pretty much everything, but I write YA/Paranormal Romance. My sisters and wife are young adult paranormal/supernatural romance fans. I started reading what they were reading because what they were talking about seemed so interesting. When I began writing Beyond Heights and Depths, I wanted to write something that would fit into the genre, but also be considered different from the norm.
What inspired you to write this book?
I started writing Beyond Heights and Depths because the story kept playing in my head. I felt like I had to start writing the story to get it out of my head. It was consuming me. What triggered it was running into someone I had not seen in a long time. I guess you could say she was the inspiration for Ash. The story kept playing on from that point. New ideas would develop and the story would flow over time, but it’s funny to think everything started from me casually running into someone.
Please tell us about your latest release.
Beyond Heights and Depths is the first book of the Beyond Heights and Depths Trilogy. The book follows the journey of Emmett and Ash. Emmett moves to a better neighborhood with the hope of leaving his troubled past behind and doing everything he can to reconnect with his lost love, Ash, who is dealing some personal demons of her own. An accident brings them together, but before they can enjoy their new relationship they find themselves at the center of a battle between good and evil that has existed since the beginning of humanity. They are forced on a nightmarish journey through this world and beyond to stay together.
Do you have a special formula for creating characters' names? Do you try to match a name with a certain meaning to attributes of the character or do you search for names popular in certain time periods or regions?
I start writing, and then I try to go with a name that fits the character. Most of the time I have a vision of the character in my head as I am writing, or even before I start writing. The character starts to take shape, and then I add a name.
Do you have a formula for developing characters? Like do you create a character sketch or list of attributes before you start writing or do you just let the character develop as you write?
I like to let the characters develop as I write. I start with the basic traits I have envisioned in my head. Every character has to start somewhere. However, I find that the characters begin to take on a life of their own as I write. As they do, their traits begin to make their way to the surface. They grow and change without a lot of external influence from me. They begin to feel very real.

What is your favorite scene from the book? Could you share a little bit of it, without spoilers of course?
It’s hard to choose, but I do really love one particular scene in chapter 5. I love the scene where Em and Ash are sitting in Ash’s living room eating tacos. It’s late; they are eating junk food. The scene is something that is familiar and comforting for them – after all kinds of craziness, but also a scene that readers can easily relate to. The quiet moments are always nice. You get to see the way they interact together in a more candid way.
What is the most interesting thing you have physically done for book related research purposes?
In book two, Emmett decides to take his chances riding enormous waves. I’m a water person, but I wanted to describe the feeling of riding an enormous wave in detail, because not everyone is going to experience that. I decided to take my chances during a massive swell to get the details right. Unlike the character, I got drilled and nearly drowned. I felt slightly embarrassed, but I did get the details I was looking for.
Can you tell readers a little bit about the world building in the book/series? How does this world differ from our normal world?
A huge chunk of the world Emmett and Ash live in is real. I describe real places, particularly in Hawaii, that people can visit and see for themselves right now. The other part of the world is supernatural. It’s interesting because I describe some supernatural places existing in coexistence with our own world, but I also built worlds beyond ours. I wanted to build a heavenly realm that readers could easily envision. I also describe a fiery hell.
With the book being part of a series, are there any character or story arcs, that readers jumping in somewhere other than the first book, need to be aware of? Can these books be read as stand alones?
They can be read as stand alones. Personally, I don’t like when books have cliffhangers in the middle of the series. It’s even worse if I have to wait a long time to find out what happened next.
Do any of your characters have similar characteristics of yourself in them and what are they?
Yes, Beyond Heights and Depths is my first novel. As such, I had to start with what I knew: places, people, things. Some of the characters and events are loosely based on people and events from my own life, sure, but eventually the characters took on a life of their own. Specifically, Emmett’s past and some of his memories are based on real events from my own past. Initially, his way of thinking and acting is very much the way I was when I was that age.
Do you have any weird writing quirks or rituals?
Yes, I have a routine. I usually wait until late at night to write. I have a specific desk and chair I sit at. I have the television playing somewhere in the background barely loud enough to hear, usually on some random cooking show. I also play different types of music from time to time for inspiration or setting the mood.
When did you consider yourself a writer?
Honestly, I don’t know. I really didn’t feel like a writer until I was working on book two of the series. A lot of people call me a writer, but I’m not sure I’ll ever consider myself a writer. I just enjoy writing. It’s nice that other people like my works too.
What are your guilty pleasures in life?
Beach, chocolate, ice cream, and doughnuts. On rare occasions I like a good craft beer. On extra special occasions I like single malt scotch.
What can readers expect next from you?

My latest project is another young adult novel, but it is much darker than Beyond Heights and Depths. It is inspired by a true story. At it’s core, the book is about a boy and girl who meet again in a psychiatric facility and their journey from that point. They are both deeply troubled, so it is a rough journey for them both.

Amazon    BN    Smashwords    Kobo     iTunesExcerpt:
As I awaken in the dark warmth of this terrifying place, laid out on the strangely uneven ground, I open my eyes to see the true horrors this place was built upon. The hills and valleys are not made of dirt at all but rather the bodies and remains of various humans and unidentifiable creatures. The uncomfortable warmth quickly turns to searing heat; with each second that passes my skin slowly burns away from my body, literally turning to ash and dispersing into the fiery air. The pain is excruciating. I want to scream in pain, but I quickly realize that all I can hear are the tortured screams and moans that seem to be coming from everywhere and nowhere at the same time. I try to move and the skin on my legs tears away in large grotesque chunks. What am I doing here? I think to myself, and I remember that I am here for a very specific reason. Where is she? She is supposed to be near where I landed. If I don’t reach her soon, we will be doomed to remain in eternal fire and pain forever.          I turn franticly, looking everywhere, all the while hoping the pain that feels like burning needles in my eyes doesn’t mean that my eyes are about to fall out of my head. I feel a sharp jolt in my chest as I peer into the noxious haze that seems to be growing right before my burning eyes. There, there she is, she can’t be more than fifty feet away. I can make it to her, just as I thought. This plan has to work; I only have a minute or two to make this work. Just then, I realize just how difficult this is going to be. To my left are the shadows I had seen before, on my right I see the disfigured faces of what I can only imagine were once human beings descending upon me, and right in front of Ash is the menacing figure of a twenty foot tall man-beast. Suddenly the screams and moans stop, only to be replaced by something more sinister. All I can hear is the malevolent laughter of the creatures that have come to make sure that we never leave this unholy place. Wake up, Ash, please; I can’t do this without you.

Guest Blog and Giveaway: Remembering Raven: Sabine by Lacey Edward

Hi.  Thanks so much for hosting my new paranormal romance on your blog.  If you haven’t heard of it before, the Remembering Raven series is a five-book series about the vampire, Viktor’s re-discovery of his long-lost love, Raven.  He finds Raven as a psychic in an occult shop in New Orleans.  Throughout the series, Viktor helps Raven remember their past life together, however, their reunion is over-shadowed by a serial killer who is murdering young women.  Specifically, young women that Raven has previously done Tarot readings for.  Since the main character in the series is Raven, I thought you would enjoy a character profile of her, as well as “A Day in the Life of Raven”…
Raven LeClaire
Raven LeClaire is a native, born and raised, to New Orleans, Louisiana. She’s in her late 20’s, approximately 5’8”, healthy body, long, thick, straight, black hair, with violet eyes. Raven is quite beautiful and is the widow of Eric LeClaire who was murdered 2 years prior to the timing of the series. She is the co-owner of The Little Shop of Secrets and performs Tarot readings there.
Raven does not remember her previous life as Ravynne Thorssen who was married to Scandinavian Viking Viktor Thorssen. They lived together in that part of the world during 1456. She only remembers that lifetime later when she has reconnected with Viktor.
Raven also has rather strong psychic abilities that begin to develop once she meets Viktor again. These abilities allow her to communicate with women that have been murdered in New Orleans.  They also allow her to “see” when a reading client is facing certain danger, although she often find it difficult to communicate her fears without the client thinking that it is just a hoax.
Despite the potential danger that awaits her in this series as she attempts to stop a serial killer, how does a beautiful occult shop co-owner spend a typical day? Check out “A Day in the Life of Raven LeClaire”:

Raven LeClaire is still reeling from the murder of a young woman that turned out to be a reading client when there is another disappearance. On top of her connection to the victims, she is grappling with some newly discovered psychic abilities that have appeared, seemingly, from nowhere.
Then there is the very handsome and sexy Viktor Thorssen. She knows that he wants her as much as she wants him but he keeps turning away from her at the last minute. As frustrating as it is for her, she has no idea of the turmoil that he is suffering at having to keep her at arm’s length.
There are secrets that Raven needs to know before Viktor will feel comfortable entering a physical relationship with her. He feels that there is too much going on in her life at the moment and he does not want to overwhelm her by confessing his secrets to her. And he has many of them.
Things are quickly escalating as another beautiful young woman becomes a victim of horrible torture and murder. When she appears to Raven, she and Viktor are, once again, drawn into a deadly game where someone quite dangerous is controlling the players. While the police have no real leads, Viktor thinks he may have an idea of who is behind it all.
He has an enemy that dates back centuries. This is an enemy that he thought he was rid of forever. Now, as it turns out, that may not be quite true. All he knows is that he must stop this monster before both he and Raven become victims again.
Is Raven ready to hear the whole truth? Viktor knows that the only way he has a chance of winning is to tell her everything. But can he risk it?

Chapter One
“Now remember to contact me if you need me,” Raven LeClaire said to her latest reading client. “I so appreciate that, Ms. Raven,” Aimee said effusively as they hugged. “It just makes me feel so much better knowing that you’re here for me!” “I want to be here for you, Aimee,” Raven replied. “Now you go get busy with what you need to do. Don’t be afraid. You will be able to pull this off with no problem.” Raven walked Aimee to the front door of the shop and gave her a final encouraging smile. Then she watched the young woman as she walked with a determined gait down the busy sidewalk through the throng of people. Yes, Aimee can do this as long she keeps up her determination. Finally turning away from the window, she walked back to join her friend and business partner Allegra Canelle at the front counter. “So, were you able to help her?” Allegra asked.“Yeah, I think so,” Raven nodded. “As long as she keeps her determined spirit, she will prove to her boss that she is more than ready for this promotion over that newer guy working at the firm. Aimee’s doing all the right things so far. She just needs to push it a little harder. That guy she’s up against for promotion really isn’t ready to take on all of this responsibility. Sometimes that good old boys network still raises its ugly head. But she can beat it.” “That’s good to hear,” Allegra smiled. “Anytime you are right in a reading, our business skyrockets.” “Well, you know what they say about word of mouth advertising,” Raven laughed. “I suppose you are heading out with your mystery man tonight?” “Of course,” Allegra said as she tossed her mane of auburn hair coyly. “I can’t explain it, Raven. But I have such a connection with this guy! He makes me feel everything that all of those bodice ripper romances talk about.” “Really,” Raven stated dubiously. “You have said that in the past, you know.” “Yes, yes,” Allegra said dismissively. “I’m well aware of how I have behaved with men in the past. But I’m telling you, Raven, this guy is truly different.” “Well, then, I can’t wait to meet the man that has turned my friend around when it comes to serious romances.”“You will meet him, I promise,” Allegra said as she raised her hand as if swearing what she said to be the truth.“Can’t you at least tell me his name?” Raven inquired. “I suppose that telling you his first name wouldn’t hurt anything,” Allegra said hesitantly. “Ok, his name is Philippe.” “Wow,” Raven said as she raised an eyebrow. “That’s quite a fancy name he has!” “Don’t you start!” Allegra exclaimed. “You were the one that wanted to know his name!” “I know, I know,” Raven laughed. “I was just teasing you. It really is a very nice name.” “Well, that’s all the information you’re getting on him for now.” “So tell me,” Raven leaned into to Allegra. “Does he dress French?” “Stop it!” Allegra exclaimed as she swatted a hand at Raven. There was no way to know how long this discussion would have lasted if the little bell above the shop door had not tinkled just then to announce the arrival of a customer. They both turned to greet the new arrival and saw that it was Sabine LaPointe, the lovely new client that had come to see Raven only a few short weeks ago. She looked just as lovely as she had the first time Raven had done a reading for her. Her dark hair was once more in long braid that hung provocatively over one shoulder and her gorgeous golden brown eyes were still just as compelling. There was something different about her that Raven sensed immediately. “Sabine!” she exclaimed. “How wonderful to see you!”“Thank you, Raven,” Sabine replied smiling. “I was wondering if you would have time to read for me today.” “Of course! In fact, I’ve got some free time right now if you would like!” Raven wasn’t sure if she imagined the look of relief that crossed Sabine’s face but she chose to pretend she had not noticed. “Yes, please,” Sabine said. “Now would be perfect!” “Come this way, then,” Raven said as she led her to reading alcove. Once there, she invited Sabine to sit as she lowered the drape to afford them some privacy. Then she joined her and started to shuffle the Tarot cards. “You look as if you’re doing quite well,” Raven said as she shuffled. “Are there any particular questions or concerns that you would like to address today?” Sabine seemed to think about her answer before delivering it. “I took your advice, Raven,” she finally said. “I accepted the modeling job and it has been going very well so far. They’re really keeping me busy and the money is amazing! I’ve never had so much fun working. I almost feel guilty calling it work.” Raven smiled broadly. “I’m so happy to hear that, Sabine! See? The cards were right! Now, let’s see what they have to say about things for you today.” Turning over the first card, Raven smiled. “Three of Cups,” she announced. “You’ve had plenty of celebrating to do since you were here last!”“Yes!” Sabine eagerly agreed. “I definitely have! As I said, the modeling job is perfect and, well, there have been other developments, too.” “Oh really?” Raven teased slightly. “Well, let’s just have a look!” Turning over another card, she smiled even brighter. “The Sun says that you are happy in all areas of your life currently,” Raven said. “This must mean that you dealt with the new man situation. He’s going along with you on the new job, then.” Sabine nodded somewhat shyly. “Yes, I was worried at first that he wouldn’t support me in it, but now he seems to be fine about it all.” “Then I am relieved for you, Sabine,” Raven said even though she was starting to feel a little shiver of apprehension. Turning over another card, she frowned slightly. “The Devil,” she said. “This is your card of obstacles or potentials. In this case, it might be either or both. You see, the Devil shows temptation that is bad for you. It also shows you breaking free of some type of negative bonds that have been holding you back. The advice to keep the bad from happening to you is in the next card which is the High Priestess. This card shows that you have excellent intuition and that you are aware that someone important to you has many secrets that he is keeping from you.” “You said ‘he’. Does that mean Henri is the one keeping secrets from me?” Sabine asked worriedly. “He very well could be, Sabine,” Raven replied. “But we knew all along that he might not be the best man for you.” “What else do you see, Raven?” she asked. Raven turned over another card. It was the Eight of Swords. “The Eight of Swords tells us that you have the ability still to escape the trap that might be approaching you. But you must pay attention to your intuition. It will never steer you wrong,” Raven said. She reached across the table and laid her hand on Sabine’s. “You already know in your heart that something is not right,” she said intently. “You don’t have to admit to me. But you must admit it to yourself.” “No, no,” Sabine said somewhat frantically. “I do want to tell you. I just don’t want it to be true.” “Then, if you feel that you want to share something with me, please do.” “Well, you know I told you that Henri has been very supportive of me in my modeling,” she began. Raven nodded, encouraging her to continue. Sabine took a deep breath. “I’ve just had this feeling that he only became so cooperative when he saw how much money that I was making. I’m afraid that…that he’s been…. stealing from me.” Raven briefly closed her eyes. “Ok,” she said softly. “Sabine, you already know the truth and what you need to do. There is no reason to put it off now. You have this amazing career in front of you! Don’t let this piece of garbage tear you down! Stealing from you? No. You must end things, but you must not do it alone.” “What do you mean?” Sabine inquired with a slight tremble in her voice. “I mean have some people very nearby when you end things with Henri. I fear that he may be dangerous. Actually, when is your next out of town modeling assignment?” “I’m to leave on Friday,” Sabine replied. “It’s for a shoot in Holland.” “Then that’s perfect!” Raven exclaimed. “If he already knows that you’re going, then you will have the ideal opportunity to end things with him. Make sure you are not alone with him. How long will you be gone?” “I’m not exactly sure,” she said. “At least a couple of weeks, maybe a little longer. It is a shoot for several projects. The photographer is the same one for all of them and just felt that it would save on time to do them all at once.” “Does Henri know where you are going?” “Not precisely,” Sabine said. “Just that I am going to Holland.” “Ok, that’s good then. Still, I would feel a lot better if you were to keep someone with you at all times. Do you understand?” “Yeah, I do,” Sabine sighed. “I just hate feeling like I have to be afraid of someone that I have begun to have feelings for, you know?” “I do understand, sweetheart,” Raven said as she tried to comfort Sabine. “But the right man will come along for you and it will not be that far in the future.” The rest of the reading was rather ordinary and, except for that niggling little feeling of apprehension, it went well. Raven hugged Sabine and walked her to the door of the shop. She continued to watch her as she walked away. When she returned to straighten up the reading table, she drew one more card on impulse regarding Sabine. It was the Ten of Swords.

Book Description:
OF LOVE AND DARKNESS kicks off the new Twisted Fate shape-shifter series. There are two kinds of shifters: Rakshasa and Light Ones. Rakshasa want to snack on human bones. Light Ones want to protect the humans.
Unfortunately, the Rakshasa are currently winning the battle, as the Light Ones are not fertile. Only one type of Light One, exceedingly rare females called Chala, are able to produce offspring. The Rakshasa know this, and have managed to nearly decimate the population.
Enter Gavin Rowan, a cursed Rakshasa who believes he is a Light One. He feels all his Rakshasa urges to kill, but has been cursed to protect the Light Ones instead.
Throw Sydney Amataya into the mix. She is a Chala– except she doesn't know it. At least not until Gavin saves her from a Rakshasa attack and then declares her as his mate.
But that’s not how Sydney operates. Encouraged by her cross-dressing Fate, William, she refuses Gavin’s claim. If he wants to mate with her–once she gets over the shock of discovering this supernatural world, that is–he's going to have to woo her, impress her, wine and dine her. Romance her. She deserves no less, end of the world be damned.

It was silent for long moments before Sydney realized the two animals had stopped fighting. She risked a quick glance over her shoulder and saw that one of them, the larger, bulkier one lay on the ground in a pool of blood, his lifeless eyes staring at her, unseeing. Sydney swallowed back bile and turned away from the grisly scene. And found herself staring at Gavin’s T-shirt-covered chest, as he crouched in front of her and cradled her wounded arm with more gentleness than she would have given him credit for. She tried to wrench her arm free and let out a gasp of pain.“Stop moving,” Gavin commanded in his gravelly voice. He gently slid her shredded coat off her shoulder, as if he meant to inspect the wound more closely.“Where the hell were you?” Sydney demanded. “I just got attacked by a rabid dog. A really big dog. I need to go to the hospital. I need a rabies shot. Damn it, that hurts.” She hissed as he ripped off the arm of her sweater, instead of trying to tug the entire thing over her head. “Hey,” she protested, “that’s my favorite sweater.”Gavin gave the sweater a look that indicated he could not quite understand why it was her favorite, and then he prodded the wounds on her arm. Blood poured freely from four long slashes, dripping off the tips of her fingers and onto her now-ruined coat.“I doubt he had rabies,” he muttered as he continued to inspect the wounds. “And I just rescued you, so you’re welcome.”Sydney gaped at him. “Rescued me? Rescued me? You ran like a cat when somebody pulls out the water hose, you moron. There were two dogs. One jumped out at me and the other attacked him. They started fighting and I somehow got caught in the crosshairs. We should probably get the hell out of here though, because only one of them is dead back there. The other one might decide to come back and attack us.”“He won’t,” Gavin said with an odd inflection in his voice. “But you’re right, there are others, and the scent of blood will bring them relatively quickly. Especially your blood. What are you?”To Sydney’s utter horror, he leaned close to her wounded arm and sniffed, like a dog checking out another dog’s scent. She gave her arm another jerk, but Gavin held her in a death grip. “What are you doing?” she asked as he bent closer still and then . . . lickedher wounded arm.“Ew!”Gavin’s eyes glazed over, as if he had fallen under some sort of spell. He blinked dazedly for a few heartbeats, his hands grasping her arm in a tight enough grip she thought the appendage might go numb. And then he bent his head and licked her wounds again, this time with earnest, licking over and over, as if he intended to clean up every last bit of blood. By the time the entire area was cleansed of all traces of blood, he was panting heavily and his eyes were still glazed. Sydney couldn’t be certain, but the bulge in his pants seemed to have gotten larger.“Gross,” she snapped. “Now I have to get a rabies and a tetanus shot. I hate shots. Can you get hepatitis this way? I bet you have some sort of sexually transmitted disease, and now you’ve given it to me.”“No disease,” he managed between pants and licks.“I’m supposed to take your word for it? Get away from me.” She twisted her shoulder, and slid her arm out of a grasp that had gone slack. She was startled that she only experienced a twinge of pain, and when she looked down at her arm, her eyes widened as she realized the four long gashes were no longer bleeding, and in fact, appeared to actually be healing right before her eyes.“What the . . .?”“Chala,” Gavin whispered, his eyes still glazed and, were they glowing? It was the third time that evening she thought she saw glowing eyes. Sydney glanced up at the darkened, cloudy sky and wondered if it wasn’t some trick of the lights in downtown Detroit. “Chala,” he whispered again.Sydney gave him a cross look. “My name isn’t Chala.”“You are a Chala,” Gavin said. The glazed look faded from his eyes, and while they still appeared to glow faintly, they had taken on a far more calculating look. Despite her current situation, she couldn’t help but think he had lovely silver-blue eyes.“And you are my mate.”

Never in a thousand years would Milan Ambrozi have expected this. He leaned on the door to his room and stared at the letter in his hands. Father Theosis had hand delivered it to him just minutes ago. As he turned the folded manila envelope, he frowned. It was from his sister Arianna.Five years had passed since Milan last saw her. It was a day Milan could never forget and wished had never happened, because it was the worst day of his life, the day the world as he knew it ended. The images of elongated, sharp fangs, black fur, and demonic red eyes seared his eyes as the haunting memories of that night returned. They were still as painful now as they were five years ago.He released a long breath and tapped the letter on his chin. A part of him wanted to open it and find out what Arianna wrote, but another part of him dreaded it. They hadn’t kept in touch all of these years. Arianna had tried and so had his father, sending him letters to the sanctuary’s P.O. Box, but Milan had never replied. He read every single one of their messages and his heart ached with each breath he took. He missed and loved them so much. Just as he missed and loved his one true love, Carlos Hernandez, whom he’d abandoned that night just like he did them. It was supposed to be the first night of the next chapter in their relationship. Carlos had popped the question before the nightmare ever occurred that ripped Milan from him and everyone else he loved. Not a day went by that Milan didn’t fantasize or reminisce about their love and what he had left behind. Carlos was and would forever be his soul mate. No one would ever replace him in his heart. If only he could turn back time to the way things were. Back to a time when he and Carlos were madly in love and having passionate sex every waking hour, and his baby sister was still in pigtails, and his father was happy and not angry with him.But unfortunately that wasn’t an option. Time only moved forward, not backward, and so must he. Sooner or later he needed to step forward and out from this shelter he had immersed himself, and return to his family and friends and his past life. But how could he ever face them again? How could he tell them the truth?Casting his thoughts and fears aside, he sighed and slumped onto the edge of his bed. The springs in the mattress creaked under his weight. He combed his wavy black locks out of his eyes and tore the envelope open in one swift and smooth movement. The scent of rose water drifted into the air, tickling his nose. He closed his eyes and sniffed the folded letter he extracted. It smelled of his baby sister. Tears filmed his eyes as memories of her in pony tails, smiling at him in a wide, dimpled grin flooded his mind. Her sixteenth birthday had passed three months ago. He wondered how much she had changed in these past five years. Not only had he missed all of her teen years so far, but her sweet sixteenth birthday, as well. He’d never regain those lost precious moments, ever.He unfolded the paper and began to read, preparing himself for a back lashing, words of hatred, of resentment at being abandoned and forgotten. But what he read took him completely by surprise.

Dear Milan,This letter will probably never reach you as my other letters before this haven’t, but I had to send it just in case you do get it and read it.I don’t know how to write this. What words can I use to make this any less painful for you? I know they’ll break your heart and make you cry, but there is no good way to pass on bad news.A few months ago Daddy was diagnosed with lung cancer. Treatments haven’t helped. The cancer spread. We found out yesterday that he has only a few weeks or months to live. Please come home. We really need you.Love always,Ari
His grip on the paper slacked and it drifted to the carpeted floor as the silence in the room ended with his cries. He covered his face with his hands and leaned his elbows on his knees. He cried for his father, for his sister and their suffering. He cried for his damnation and the cruel God he had come to know all too well. Life wasn’t fair, and the good always suffered undeservingly. His father, a kind and generous man who had loved and nurtured him and his sister all of his life, was suffering a slow and painful death. And there wasn’t anything anyone could do to stop it.He let the sorrow and despair flow out, until there were no more tears or energy to spare. He lay back on the bed and stared at the twirling ceiling fan, being mesmerized by its simple and constant spinning motion. Now that this detrimental blow had been delivered, he knew without a doubt that the time for hiding had passed. He needed to face his inner demons and conquer them. The letter screamed its purpose in his ears. His father and baby sister needed him. Now more than ever. It was time to go home.

Excerpt:
Leaving the truck, he unhitched the cart. It was colder up here, but his lion didn’t mind. Conall sniffed the area, made sure no unsuspecting humans were going to get the scare of a lifetime, and shifted into a massive African lion. The harness he and Sampson rigged up last night worked perfectly. He slipped it over his head, resting it on his shoulders. The lion started his trek up the mountains, having memorized the map. It was all too easy to let his mind wander, to think about absolutely nothing except for where his paws would land with the next step. The walking path to the cabin was clear if you knew to look for the notches in the trees. He could travel like this all day and not get bored, never tire. Being in the wilderness liberated his lion; the burden he carried behind him only added a minor challenge to his muscular frame. This was exactly what he needed. The next four hours passed slowly and quietly, a vast change from the chaos of the last few weeks. For the first time in a long time, he turned off his brain and let his lion dominate his actions. His wide paws navigated the terrain with no problems. His ears alerted him to the movement of the forest creatures and his nose picked up the various scents of nature. Conall lost himself into his lion and his human counterpart took a well-needed mental nap. Then he heard an angel. The voice echoed around the woods and he froze with one paw off the ground. His feline ears perked up. After living with Vivian Blake, diva extraordinaire, for five years, he knew musical talent when he heard it. Vivian had the most beautiful voice he’d ever heard…until right then. Closing his eyes, he crouched down, still as death, to listen. The notes rose and fell flawlessly on pitch and with incredible ease. Her range was awe-inspiring. His breath caught in his throat as he listened to her build up to a note so high and delicate, it caused his heart to soar in anticipation. The emotion of the words, the love conveyed in every measure resonated in his chest. Tendrils of melody wrapped around him, gripping him tighter with every beat. Had he been in human form, he might have fallen to his knees. As it was, the four legs of his lion shook with the driving need to get closer to the source of such mesmerizing singing. He took cautious steps over the crest of the hill to look upon the cottage set snugly among the evergreens. Green tin roof and logs made from local timber provided camouflage. Smoke rose from the chimney; the smell traveling the air currents was divine. Three chairs rocked on the porch, pushed by the invisible hands of the wind. Although the coming winter cold had scared them away, it was clear the cottage was usually framed with flowers. A brown picket fence protected a garden. He envisioned Snow White singing to the forest creatures as they scuttled around her feet. Ha, he thought. Any moment now, some old woman would come outside with a radio in her hand. He didn’t want the fantasy to end. The lion closed his eyes and let the gentle voice wash over him. Peace settled in his chest, a heavy weight dissolved from his shoulders. The notes infiltrated his veins and he felt absolutely drunk with contentment. Her love song pierced him and eased each breath he took. Incredible…The notes cut off as soon as the wind shifted.

About the Author:
JoAnna Grace lives in a world of alpha males and strong females where true love conquers all—at least in her mind! Author of The Divine Chronicles, the Blake Pride Series, and more, this writer loves paranormal and urban fantasy romance novels.
From the time she started holding a crayon she began to create magical worlds. Her first book was a series of pictures about a puppy princess. The story changed each time she told it, but there was always a happy ending! Her first written story was about girls who changed into tigers. Now those stories have become a bit more complex.
JoAnna’s tales are spun at her home in East Texas where she lives with her husband, three kids, and a couple dogs. When not hiding behind the computer screen you can find her camping, boating, and shopping.
