Book Description:
Learning new things can be exciting.
After a humiliating breakup with a former student, the last thing Professor Ava Kushnell wants to think about is dating again. Deciding to focus on the department head position up for grabs, she’s confident she can stay the course...until she meets one of her new students.
Troy Whitten is starting to feel old, outdated, and out of touch until he sees a sexy African-American woman dancing around in the office of one of his professors. Fresh from a breakup, he asks out this smoking hot, intelligent woman. Too bad she has a rule against dating her students, and as an ethics professor, he knows she's going to stick to her guns.
Since he can't get the woman of his dreams, Troy does a friend a favor and covers his position at an escort service, but he certainly won't take it to a physical level. That is, until he discovers Ava is his first client. When sparks fly and lines are crossed, will Ava go with her head or her heart, using ethics as her guide?
Excerpt:
Ava said nothing as she searched for their limousine. Once she located it, she stomped to it. Watching her, Troy waited to see if a heel on her pumps would snap off at any moment. He also simply enjoyed watching her tight frame sway back and forth. She pounded on the driver side window, waking up the poor driver and probably giving the man the start of a heart attack. The driver powered down the window. As soon as he got it low enough, Ava said, “I’m ready to go.” “No, she isn’t.” Troy held her arm and turned her around. As hard as he tried not to let his inner Dominant come out, she forced his hand. As soon as he saw her storming away from him, a switch turned on in his head. He needed to take control of this situation. The way Ava looked, she wanted him to manage her, steer her in the right direction.“Listen to me.” He crouched down and got in her face. “The way you show strength is by not backing down when a challenge hits you. Fight back.” He turned to the slow-blinking driver who looked like he wanted to go back to sleep. “We’ll be back later tonight.” He took Ava’s hand. “We’re going back into that party.” “Why? I don’t need to—”“Yes, you do.” It didn’t matter what Ava said at the end of her sentence. Troy knew she needed to be strong. He squeezed her hand. “Are you right or left-handed?”“Right.” As soon as she answered, he released her hand. “Come around to this side.”Ava paused before moving to his right side. When she did, he held her left hand. “I’ll hold your hand throughout dinner. When you need to talk, I’ll make circles in your palm like this.” He swirled the tip of his index finger over her smooth hand. “When it’s appropriate for you to remain silent, I’ll give you a slight squeeze like this.” He compressed her hand. “I say when we leave, understood?”She stared at him. He thought for sure that she would have run away from him, from the situation again. It shouldn’t have surprised him when she nodded. His instincts in spotting someone with accommodating tendencies hadn’t been off. He headed back to the building. When he noticed Ava slowing her stride, he stopped. “No.” Troy shook his head. “You always walk next to me. Never behind me.”“Yes, um, yes.” She nodded again. Like in any new relationship, vanilla or otherwise, names had to be established. “Call me Troy. I want you to use my name at least five times tonight, understand?”“I know your name.” Even in the hot summer night, Ava trembled. Whether her reaction had stemmed from fear or excitement, he didn’t care. She reacted. “I know you know it. I want you to say it.” He held up his hand and splayed his fingers. “Five times.”“If I don’t?” She swallowed hard.Good. She wanted to play. She wanted to test boundaries. Always a good sign of a willing submissive. “I will give you the deepest, hottest, wettest kiss you’ve ever had.” He wanted to do that regardless of his forced restrictions on her. He knew her uptight nature wouldn’t allow for her to be that brazen.
“Understood. Let’s go.” She marched toward the event hall.

Excerpt 1We stand close to each other and electricity sizzles in the air. I forget what I was about to ask.My back hits a tree. I can’t retreat anymore, so I tread to my side, stepping on a rock. This reduces our height differences a little. He presses his palms on the tree trunk next to my head, trapping me.Looking at me intently, Aleksey takes a strand of my hair and twirls it, then tucks it behind my ear. The way his hand lingers at my earlobe leaves my skin tingling. My voice comes out breathy. “I’ll … have to think … your offer … through.”His voice is low, husky. “I’ll give you something to think about.”Aleksey slips his large hand around my waist. He positions my body so that the height difference isn’t an obstacle. He’s building anticipation, making the wait for his lips deliciously torturous. His face slowly approaches, the deliberation clear. When his lips touch mine, it’s a soft brush that makes my body melt into liquid fire. Then they move against my mouth hungrily. And everything that isn’t his body vanishes into thin air. He’s showing me that he can be gentle, but I want more. My hands grab his shoulders. I press my body tightly against his, and he mirrors my action with his pelvis, blending it with mine. Showing me through his erection, the promise of greater pleasures.I whimper. Automatically the kiss deepens. His bulky arms tighten their grip on my body. My skin burns and tingles at all the points where our bodies are touching. He kisses me deep and lingering at times, playfully pulling my lower lip at others. Expertly moving his lips to my earlobe and neck before returning to my mouth. He doesn’t make me feel like he’s kissing me. He makes me feel like he owns me. I feel it in the way his hands move up and down my sides, the way his strong arms constrict me. It makes my blood bubble deliciously with a desire I’ve never felt before.I can’t get enough of him.He keeps kissing me like this until he finally pulls back, touching his forehead to mine and resting his hands at the small of my back. I struggle to control my breathing. My heart pounds in my chest and I’m sure he can hear it. It’s not embarrassing because I can see that I affect him, too. He’s struggling to recover his cool, arrogant demeanor.I’ve never been kissed like this. Come to think of it, I've never been truly kissed, until now. It was either me forcing Rey to do something he didn’t want to do, or him not being himself. It never felt natural—never felt like a ride to the moon and back.“Surrender,” Aleksey whispers, still holding me tightly. He skims his nose along my jaw to my neck. “Surrender to me and I’ll …”

Book Description:
Seeing him whole, perfect, and on his knees…I desired him.
One look at him told me he was a young man on the verge of ruination, of being an addict and a slave to his passions. He was on Marco’s arm, and was introduced as Marco’s boy. The next time I saw him, he was Marco’s marked and branded property. One moment he was free, the next he was not. He’s flawless, or he used to be. Now he’s just damaged goods. Just another piece of property owned by the Reaper Brotherhood drug cartel.
Chase is just another wasted statistic, or he should’ve been if not for my hasty intervention. I made the worst mistake any up-and-coming monster could’ve made. I wanted him so much that even after he’s no longer perfect, I still wanted to save him from his inevitable doom.
Excerpt:
“Take it all, you nasty dog.” Marco’s voice cut through the crowd like a knife. I stood beside my brother, Keith, a looming silent and scarred shadow while he spoke to the local businessman who ran a few of the neighborhood’s strip joints and to whom we had been supplying for a number of years. The man’s name escaped me, but I didn’t need to know. I just needed to know whether he was a threat to Keith and the business. Keith was the brains of our operation, and I was just the muscle. Our arrangement worked just fine, like clockwork. “Shut up and suck, hole.” Finally, I spared a glance to where Marco, his men, and a group of men and women were standing at the corner of the room. With my attention on them, I could finally make out the whimpers and pleas coming from the naked young man causing all the commotion. Marco was one of the Brotherhood’s best dealers, but I never liked him. Sloppy as hell, Marco treated everyone like shit, especially the cocks and pussies belonging to the Brotherhood. This one was no exception. On his knees, the young man struggled to suck Marco’s cock while Marco jerked the leash connected to the collar on the man’s neck. Meanwhile, one of Marco’s men hit the young man with a flogger from behind They made one hell of a noise despite the loud music spilling through the room. Shit. A commotion had been the last thing we needed, especially with the rumors I’d been hearing about cops mysteriously getting tipped off about some of our dealers.“Kade, could you remind Marco to keep it down?” Keith asked, clearly annoyed. Taking a long pull of my beer, I sighed and ambled over to Marco. I shook my head when some of my men looked my way. This was my problem to handle.“Why, if it isn’t Kade? Care to join us, big man?” Marco asked as the crowd parted for me. He took his cock out from the boy’s mouth while his associate stopped the whipping. Marco kept the leash wrapped around his arm, though. Given my bulk and size, it hadn’t been hard to push through the crowd. Most knew me on sight as Keith’s head enforcer. It took me a second to place the protesting and sweat-slicked boy Marco had been rutting. I remembered Chase because of his ridiculous name. Wondered what kind of mother would name her kid that. This time, there was no smirk on his young face. No teasing.Just a thick leather dog collar on his neck with a little silver tag I had a feeling bore Marco’s name. The sounds coming out of his young, cum-covered mouth hadn’t been sounds of pleasure. Chase hoarsely pleaded, cried, and whimpered like a dog being beaten to death. The last time I’d seen him had been a month ago. It only took thirty days for Marco to break him down from a human being to an object.“Keith wants you to keep the noise down. He has important guests to attend to,” I said coldly. Something darted to my leg. Chase. He’d somehow managed to pry his leash from Marco’s arm, and it now dangled to the ground. Big blue eyes too lucid for my taste looked up at me pleadingly from beneath long lashes. They’re supposed to be drug-filled eyes, the eyes of someone far too gone to notice reality. His hands clutched tightly at my left leg with surprising strength. “Please. Please make them stop.”

Book Description:
Will Finn and Jared recapture what they lost in time for Christmas?
Finnegan Gables moved away six years ago, leaving behind his friends, the city he grew up in, and his lover, Jared McNaughtly. They weren’t ready for a commitment then, but now Finn’s back and hoping to rekindle their Dom and sub relationship…if he can find Jared, that is.
Jared’s not had an easy time of it since Finn left. His one attempt at staying in the lifestyle resulted in a stalker, forcing him to change all his contact information and move to a new apartment. He’s disillusioned enough to have left the lifestyle altogether.
A chance crossing of their paths bring them together the week before Christmas. Can they move past their separation and everything that’s happened in the last six years to find a Merry Christmas together?
Excerpt:
Finn headed up Bank Street, bypassing the leather club in his search for someplace to have supper. He wasn’t sure he was going to go into the club later. He’d been back in town about six weeks, and while he’d played a little, he just wasn’t feeling it. He knew what the problem was. When he’d been transferred, he’d been hoping to find Jared McNaughtly, his ex and former submissive.
They’d split up nearly six years ago when Finn had moved to Toronto with his job. Neither of them had really been in a place for Jared to come with him, but Finn had to admit, every man he met wound up stacking up unfavorably with the memory of his ex. There was simply something about Jared that was right, that fit, that worked for him like no one else ever had, before or since.
He’d looked Jared up the second day he was back, but the number he had was no longer in service. A search of the online phonebook had turned up exactly nothing. Not that it wasn’t easy to pay to have your information kept off the online phone book, but he’d been hoping hard he’d find it there.
He pushed his fingers deeper into his pockets, cursing himself for believing the meteorologist. No snow and well above zero Celsius had somehow become a growing snowfall that was trying to work itself into a blizzard with frigid winds and below freezing temps.
Welcome home, Finnegan Gables, welcome home.
He glanced at After Stonewall, the LGBTQ bookstore, a staple long before he’d even come out. He remembered they had the neatest window displays, and he was curious to see what they’d done for Christmas this year.
One window was a huge tree, done up in rainbows and sparkles. The light twinkled so fast, it made him dazed. That was awesome. He stood in front of it for a while, enjoying the feeling of being vaguely high on the lights before moving to the window on the other side of the door.
This one had a Christmas angel in it, a beautiful man with high cheekbones and a shock of ebony hair. He was dressed in creamy gauze, with maroon ribbons on his wrists and throat and ankles. He was stunning, and Finn admired him for a long moment.
The angel reminded him of his Jared, and Finn smiled. Then his eyes widened, and his mouth dropped open. The angel didn’t just look like Jared, it was Jared.
“Good lord.” He was surprised enough to say the words out loud.
When they’d parted ways, Jared was making his living as a model, as a living mannequin. Looked like that perfect hard body was still in demand and looking better than ever, at that.
Finn licked his lips, wondering if Jared had noticed him. He wanted to wave. Hell, he wanted to go in and find out when that fine ass clocked off so he could take it to dinner. That sounded like a plan, so he headed inside, hoping to get a chance to talk, to touch. From the other side, he could see the perfect ass, the corseted waist. God.
“You are as stunning as the day I first laid eyes on you, J.”
Finn saw the deep breath Jared took, knew Jared heard him. Good.
“I’m going to find out when you come out of the window this evening. And I’m going to be here, take you out to supper. Boy.”
The warm blush that suffused his former and hopefully soon-to-be-again lover suited him to the core. It looked like Jared still had feelings for him. Or at least was still attracted. Finn could work with that.
“If you weren’t working, I’d smack that sweet ass of yours—give you a proper hello.”
Jared needed a pink ass, deserved it. And it would peek so enticingly from beneath all that gauze he wore in the window.
Finn smiled as he approached the cash area. He got a quick grin and a nod from the clerk behind the register.
“Hey there. How goes it?”
“Hi. I’m meeting Jared for supper. Could you remind me what time he comes out of the window this evening, please?” Finn asked.
“He’s almost done. He can only stand for about an hour at a time. That pose is vicious.”
“Oh, in that case, I’ll just wait. Thank you very much.”
His gaze returned to Jared. Vicious, maybe, but stunning for sure. And the Jared he knew had been on the way to being a powerful sub. It didn’t surprise him at all to hear that Jared was holding demanding positions for an hour or so.
All he could hope was that he still had a shot to reconnect. If Jared was already taken, it would be a damn shame. Oh, not for Jared, Finn would be happy for the man, but they’d been on their way to having something special. He’d never found that with anyone else.

They weren’t supposed to have feelings.
Metal will Clash
In a not-too-distance future, robots composed of metal for bones, electric cords for veins, and synthetics for skin are now available. For purchase. Eighteen-year-old Vienna Avery’s home is going to change forever, now that her mom purchased an Italian Chef Robot to cook and reside in their house.
Secrets will Unfold
The government claimed robots were indifferent, unthinking pieces of metal and elastic—assistance for the help of humans. Vienna never believed much of what the government said. The pieces didn’t always fit. And now Vienna knows why, because she’s uncovered the government’s secret: that robots have emotions, sucking Vienna into the underground world of feeling, thinking, and sovereign robots.
Sparks will Fly
Alec Cypher is everything a robot is not supposed to be: deep, dark, and dangerously human. And for some reason, he wants to save Vienna from the government’s prying, vindictive eyes. Going forward, Vienna will have to learn to trust robots and battle the growing feelings she never thought possible . . . feelings for the green-eyed, soul-searching robot named Alec.

Excerpt:
I never locked eyes with a robot before.Never.Not once.I guess I thought it would feel different. But it doesn’t. Nothing is different. It feels the same, the same as looking into a human’s eyes. I wanted to pry my eyes away but now that I’ve started, I can’t stop staring. Even from this distance, I could tell the robot’s eyes were a honey brown. They are so close to being one of us. But they can’t be. They can never be us. Or at least, that’s what the government says. The robot’s indifferent gaze shifted from mine and it strode toward my neighbor’s Lincoln Town Car. The robot’s gait caught with every third step and the elbow twisted incongruently when it opened the car door—the only telltale signs it wasn’t human. This robot had dark-brown hair, tan skin, and was dressed in a chauffeur’s suit. My neighbor, Mr. Romero, waved at me as he exited the car, and I just stood there, mouth agape and knees locked.Mr. Romero frowned but I couldn’t wave back. I couldn’t move. I was frozen to that spot on my porch with my keys dangling from my fingers and my purse sliding down my shoulder. It was just as the news had said. Everything was. From the eyes, to the nose, the lips, to the hair, it all looked so real. I had never studied a robot that wasn’t on TV; I was always too busy avoiding them. But when they weren’t moving, when they weren’t doing anything, when they were just standing there, they looked exactly like people. Exactly. Together, they disappeared inside the house, Mr. Romero with his stout frame and wiry black hair, and his robot chauffeur. I now lived next door to a robot. The keys felt cold in my hand, and I realized for the last several seconds, my focus had been consumed by the now empty driveway. Leave it to me to do something like that.I opened the door and leaned against it as it clicked shut behind me. Everything was changing. And everything would be different. “Mom, I’m home.” I shrugged off the door and into the family room.“Be right there, Vienna.” “Don’t worry about it,” I called back, hoping mom would leave me alone. “How was shopping? Find anything you liked?” Mom appeared and wiped her hands on her paint-covered overalls. Mom was a die-hard artist. She lived, breathed, and probably ate paint. At a whole head taller than me, Mom still looked great. Forty-five and thriving was her motto. Mom and I had wispy blond hair, pale-green eyes, and a small nose. Unlike me, her hair was cut in a bob-like fashion, the front angled longer, reaching past her shoulders, where mine was always in a ponytail.I shook off my jacket and looked up into Mom’s bright, beaming face. “I only went shopping,” I said, raising my eyebrows. “No need to look that—”“You’ll never guess what I bought.” Mom practically sang the last word, cutting me off.Head throbbing, I sucked in a deep breath and dropped my purse on the couch. “I have absolutely no idea.” I wondered how mom would react if she knew Mr. Romero had bought a robot. “They’ve had nothing but good reviews.” Mom nodded, following behind me as I headed toward my room. “And you and your father are going to love him.”I rubbed my temples. “I’m sure we will.” How could we not get excited about Mom’s latest painting gadget? “What does this one let you do?”Paint with two brushes at the same time?Mom darted in front of me, and spread her arms to block me from going any further.“What’s going on?” I looked from side-to-side. “I named him Robotatouille.” Mom nodded as if that solved everything.“I’m sorry?” I shook my head. What in the heck was Mom talking about? “You named what Robot . . .” My breath caught in my throat. My stomach flipped. “You . . . you did what?” I repeated.Mom’s eyes lit up and suddenly, it was like all the energy in my body had been stolen from me, sucked out, leaving me dry and empty.“N-N-N-o,” I breathed. Mom wouldn’t—“Everyone’s getting one,” Mom said. My legs shook. “Did you know Mr. Romero just bought one yesterday?” Mom asked, face glowing while it felt like mine had lost all of its blood. “And you’re going to love him. Look.” Mom winked at me and stepped back to pull a sandy-blond brown-eyed twenty-something-year-old man from behind the kitchen wall. I couldn’t breathe. Air was trapped in my body, as I stood there, gaping, into this man-robot-thing’s eyes. Brown eyes. Sandy-blond hair. I jerked backward and stumbled into the coffee table. The robot was right in front of me. No. Freaking. Way.

Did you always wanted to be a writer? If not what did you want to be?
As a kid, I wanted to be a veterinary nurse. It wasn’t until I was fifteen that I wanted to be a writer.
How long did it take to get your first book published?
A year and half. Born Dark was published about four months after I signed the contract with my publisher.
What were your aspirations as an author and have any of them come true?
Well I’d like to get on the New York Times Bestseller list. So far, it hasn’t happened, but I still have hope that I’ll make it.
What genres do you normally write in?
Young Adult and Paranormal Romance are my favourite genres, but I have done New Adult, Erotic and Dystopian stories.
Is there a genre you haven’t written in that one day you’d like to tackle?
Science Fiction. I’m a huge Star Trek fan.
What was the first book you ever published?
Born Dark was my first book. It’s the first installment in my ongoing Unfortunate Blood series, which is a young Adult Paranormal Romance mainly with vampires but also werewolves and ghosts and faeries.
What was the craziest thing you’ve ever done when it came to a storyline in your book?
Well in Run, I twisted together several different threads of plot and it felt crazy while I was writing it because I kept having to go back and check what I’d already written to make sure I didn’t make any mistakes and that everything made sense.

Short Excerpt:
Leaving the cinema, hand in hand, we stepped out into the chill of the night. The sun had descended below the surrounding buildings, leaving the street dimly lit by lampposts and the bright neon signs hanging above storefronts. The wind blew light strands of hair across Anson’s forehead. I grinned at him and reached up to brush his hair back carefully, my fingertips gliding across his forehead ever so lightly. A shock of something sweet and hot hit me in the chest, making my breath catch.
Anson’s eyes darkened almost imperceptibly, and I heard his heartbeat skip unsteadily at my touch. He raised his hand and gently wrapped his fingers around my wrist, drawing my palm down his face to his lips. Light as the flutter of a butterfly wing, he kissed my palm and each of my fingertips. It felt so thrilling, my whole hand ached to bury itself into his bright hair, and I was distinctly aware of how close we were standing. All I would have to do was lean up on my tiptoes and my mouth would meet his. His cobalt eyes fixed me in place, I couldn’t look away, though I knew I should. I wanted this so badly, but I couldn’t have it. If I kissed him, I was afraid I’d shatter into a million pieces, and only he would be able to put me back together.

At first, Sara thinks she’s hallucinating - prenuptial jitters, stress or an endocrine system malfunction - but she quickly finds out the bullets are just as real as her growing love for Clay…

Excerpt:
Sara sat up and looked around. It was daytime and she was sitting on a grassy slope next to a road. There was a mild, tingling sensation where the spark had hit her in the forehead. She stood up, feeling lightheaded. She could see a haphazard cluster of buildings‚ tents, lean-tos, and shacks stretched out along a tree-lined creek bed about half a mile away. A blue cloud of smoke hung in the air. And beyond was a majestic, snow-capped mountain range. How could this be? A moment ago she was in Vermont with her aunt and Bruce. She obviously wasn’t in Vermont any longer. There were no mountains like this in Vermont. She heard something approaching along the road. She turned and saw a horse-drawn buggy driven by a white-haired man. The driver stopped next to her. He was dressed in a black suit, a white shirt with a starched collar, a string tie, and a black-brimmed hat. Sara’s first thought was that he was Amish. Was this Pennsylvania? How did she get to Pennsylvania? But how could this be Pennsylvania? They didn’t have any high mountains like this in Pennsylvania, either.“You all right, miss?” the man in the buggy said.“I don’t know.”“Your horse throw you?”“Horse?”“You look a little dazed. I’m Doc Clifford. You want my professional medical opinion, I think you should get in out of the sun. Get aboard, I’ll give you a ride into town.”She got into the buggy and, with a flick of the buggy whip, the buggy lurched forward. He leaned over and looked closely at her eyes. “When we get to town, maybe I ought to give you a good examination. Looks like you got a pretty good bump right in the middle of your forehead. Jarred your senses.”He blinked at her, then flicked the reins of the horse. It sped up. “I think you might have a bad concussion there.”“I do feel a bit woozy.”The rough dirt road curved around the slope of the hill and carried them into town. There was a lot of construction going on and at first Sara thought it might be a movie set. The main street was curved upwards, with short side streets—little more than alleys—shooting off from it. A cluster of buildings in the center had board sidewalks and porches and a line of skinny poles holding up a single wire.Smoke from a dozen cook fires and chimneys lay over the town like a blanket. The buggy had slowed as they entered the town. The streets were crammed with wagons, carriages, mules, donkeys, and people‚ mostly men in flannel shirts and jeans and cowboy hats. A medicine man on the back of a garishly painted wagon was hawking his wares to half a dozen men and a couple women dressed in long skirts and bonnets and carrying parasols.“What is this?” Sara asked. “Are you having frontier days or something?”“I don’t catch your meaning. This is Bury-Me-Quick, Colorado.”“How did I get here?”“Probably took the train to Denver and the overland stage from there. That’s how most folks get here.”They were passing the jail. The gallows were under construction next to it.“Stop!” she said.“Whoa!—What is it?”“Who are they getting ready to hang?”“Some gambler. Shot an unarmed man, so six witnesses said. Me, I wouldn’t believe any of them six witnesses if they swore the sun was high in the sky at noon.”The horse had stopped. Sara got off the buggy.“Young lady, you best come to my office!”“I have to check something out.”She went into the sheriff’s office at the front of the red brick jail building. Inside were a roll-top desk, a gun rack, and a pot-bellied stove. The walls were papered with wanted posters. Behind the desk, opposite the door, sat a fat, bewhiskered man in a rumpled suit with a striped vest. He stood up.“Afternoon, siss. What can I do for you?”“The man you’re going to hang. I’d like to talk to him.”“Are you a friend?”“I think so. I’m not sure.”The sheriff smiled. “I guess it wouldn’t hurt. A shame Clay got himself into this braggadocio, but I got to do what my sworn duty says I got to do, and that’s hang him at dawn tomorrow.”“I wish I knew what’s going on around here,” Sara said. “Are you folks making a TV show or something?”“I’m afraid I don’t know how to answer that, ma’am. You want to see Dunhill or don’t you?”“I guess I do.” Sara felt a shudder of fear, as she sometimes did when she had to give a presentation. Her skin tingled. The sheriff led her through a door to the back room. There were two small cells, one on the left, one on the right. A young deputy sat on a high stool against the wall opposite the cells with a shotgun in his lap. He nodded to her as a greeting and spat some tobacco juice into a spittoon.“Afternoon, ma’am.”The only inmate was sitting on a bunk tossing cards into his hat, humming a tune. He turned around. It was the man Sara had seen in the crystal ball, with the same cocky grin. His dark eyes lit up when he saw her.“Well, now, who’s this?” He squinted at her. “Do I know you?”Sara felt a rush of confusing emotions. Her heart fluttered. She was dizzy. She touched the spot on her forehead where she’d been hit with the spark. This was all some kind of crazy dream, she decided. That was the only explanation.“I hope you don’t find me too forward,” Clay Dunhill said, “but could I know your name?”“Sara Witherspoon.”“A fine name.”“Do I know you, Mr. Dunhill?” Sara asked‚ approaching the bars to his cell. His gaze seemed so deep and he looked at her with such intense warmth and tenderness she couldn’t quite catch her breath. She was excited, yet frightened—she’d never felt this way before.Clay Dunhill touched her hand through the bars. A jolt of electricity went through her and, in its wake, a warm sensation spread throughout her being. Her heart felt as if it would burst. Looking into his dark eyes stirred something deep within her and turned her incredibly soft inside. But how could she feel anything for a complete stranger? Maybe she had inadvertently taken some kind of drug. She had read about fungi that caused people to hallucinate. Yes, that was it, that had to be it. She had taken some hallucinogen by accident. Maybe it was the lunch she had at a roadside diner in a little Massachusetts town she and Bruce had driven through.
“My old grandmother said once I was destined to meet a woman who would steal my heart. You might just be the one. Too bad I’m about to be hung.”

Top Ten Book Couples- Bite the Bullet by Angela Louise McGurk

Hello, lovely people! Thank you to Fangtastic Books for having me here. Today I’d like to share with you my top ten book couples, starting with my absolute favourites…
1. Merit & Ethan – Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill
What more can you want than a thoroughly sexy master vampire and a slightly nerdy but totally kick-ass heroine? Merit is brave, strong, witty, and the perfect adversary/partner for Ethan. She keeps him on his toes and, in my opinion, gives him a little bit of life back. I truly love these two. If I could do such a thing, I would be Merit.
2. Qhuinn & Blaylock – Lover at Last, Black Dagger Brotherhood by J. R. Ward
The relationship between Qhuinn and Blay is truly beautiful, one of loyalty and overcoming prejudices, including those of Qhuinn himself. This is the only male-male relationship on this list, but it truly deserves to be near the top. Blay has such a good heart and Qhuinn has so much to overcome, their romance kept me captivated.
3. Zadist & Bella – Lover Awakened, Black Dagger Brotherhood by J. R. Ward
I’m a big fan of tragedy, and of love overcoming it. There are few characters as tormented as Zadist and seeing him find a degree of peace with Bella was enthralling.
4. Jehenne & Corvus – The French Vampire Legen (Series) by Emma Leech
Anyone familiar with what I write, especially the Vampire Cohorts series, will see why I love this couple. There’s magic, passionate (if occasionally inexplicable) attraction, and there’s tragedy and devotion. Their tale is simply beautiful. It’s timeless. Although Jehenne took a little learning to love, Corvus… Well, Corvus is a keeper.
5. Imrhein & Thorn – The Bitterbynde Trilogy by Cecilia Dart-Thornton
If it’s not clear that I like tragic love affairs by now, it soon will be. These two are another couple who have it tough. Imrhein has a rough time of it, but Thorn… well, phoar. Ranger, king, fae king… he’s enchanting and captivating and the forbidden love quality to his relationship with Imrhein is beautiful.
6. Arwen & Aragorn – The Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien
You can’t really get much more tragic than Arwen and Aragorn. She gave up her family to stay with him. She chose to live with the grief she had to bear because she was one of the last of her kind, and because she was destined to longer than him. Their story is both beautiful and sorrowful.
7. Catherine & Bones – The Night Huntress Series by Jeaniene Frost
There’s a great many times when Cat Crawfield gets on my nerves, I admit it. But Bones… well, he’s a sexy bounty hunter vampire who reminds me of Spike from Buffy. That pretty much sells him to me. He’s an education for Cat, in more ways than one. He teaches her how to see past prejudices she’s acquired while being anything but your typical hero. I just love the Cat-Bones romance, especially in the early books of the series.
8. Lothaire & Elizabeth – Lothaire by Kresley Cole
This is another one where prejudices are overcome, where the couple learn from each other. On top of that, Lothaire is a real bad boy. At times he seems to verge on evil, and certainly demented. Yet that doesn’t matter, because deep down inside there’s a surprisingly good man… despite his murderous streak.
9. Caitlin & Kane – Blood Shadows, Blackthorn Series by Lindsay Pryor
These two are both trying to get one up on each other at the start of the book. They’re adversaries who became something more. Kane has all the dominating threat that a vampire should have while also having a good heart. I love how this adversarial couple come to see so much more in each other.
10. Eilonwy & Taran – The Chronicles of Prydain by Lloyd Alexander
This is an odd one, as they’re from a children’s series. However, they’re a couple that’s stuck with me. The Prydain series as a whole stuck with me, but Eilonwy and Taran go through so much together, they come of age together, and that gives their relationship a unique quality.

Book Description:
Let me tell you what it was to be made vampire. It wasn’t birth. Birth implies pushing, tearing forth into the light, screaming. Becoming immortal was to be pulled, to be tugged irrevocably into darkness, and it was silent.
I should have fought, any person should fight, but my mind had been filled with a hazy calm which forbade any battle. Struggling had been the last thing on my mind, even when my bus arrived and my assailant waved it on, dismissing my last hope of escape.
Yet my lack of rebellion was far from the most unsettling part of the stranger’s control over me. The truth was that the man could’ve asked anything of me and I would’ve complied, but he didn’t need to vocalise his request. I knew instinctively what he wanted. I sighed and surrendered myself as he held me against his front in a lover’s embrace, tipping my head and willingly giving him access to my throat.
“One day you’ll understand,” he whispered, his tone subdued. I’ve often wondered since if he was really talking to me. Perhaps he’d been talking to himself, persuading himself that one day I’d know and accept his reasons for what he’d planned for me.
I wouldn’t. I couldn’t. Because when my fangs came in, my world altered irrevocably. It became somewhere dark, somewhere filled with murder and blood, where magic was sinister and where even my closest ally seemed more like an enemy... Even if he did make my heart skip a beat.

Excerpt:
Two uniformed vampire sentries stood outside the door. They nodded to Lex and James as we approached. They also eyed me with unveiled curiosity before opening the timber access and their scrutiny made me uncomfortable. Here we go, here was the interest that would make me feel like a specimen in a petri dish, or some newly discovered species which had previously been thought extinct.I tried to ignore my unease, but realistically what hope did I have? Nerves caused my stomach to churn and nausea to raise its ugly head as James herded me into the building and across an entrance hall. I could hear the laughter of many people coming from a room to the left of the hallway. More people than I wanted to face, judging by the noise. Not that my reluctance mattered as it was in that direction which James propelled me.I wasn’t given a chance to catch my breath, to prepare myself for my introduction to the cohort. I was simply thrust among them, and I swore I’d never forgive James for that act of cruelty. Silence fell the moment I entered the oppressive atmosphere of the grand dining room, with its walls panelled in dark wood and a vast number of vampires congregated inside.Oh, hell. They turned towards me, stared at me with increasing scorn as their expectations plummeted. They arched brows at my tattered clothing and messed up hair, and at the blood which I’d sloshed down my front during my mad dive for the bottle which James had opened. This was not going to make the sort of impression I needed, not if I wanted to make friends.Did I want friends? My first instinct was to run, but with Lex and James flanking me there was no way out, nowhere to escape to. I was trapped, and I was being looked at as though I were some unwelcomed insect which had crawled in from the street. That should’ve irritated me but such concerns faded away to nothing when my eyes finally met his, my Sire’s.My maker’s.Conn O’Dowd was as recognisable as I’d predicted, even though I hadn’t seen his face at the bus stop. His deep blue eyes caught mine and our gazes locked, held. His burned with something I couldn’t fathom, something so intense it felt familiar even though I couldn’t explain why. He was tall, broad, and even the bulk of him seemed familiar, although I’d only ever felt the press of his body against my back that once, as he drank from me. His long hair was a mix of dirty blond and brilliant golden waves, which were tied back into a ponytail at the nape of his neck. He was stunning, Adonis like… Or Thor like. And I hated him all the more for his perfection. He stared at me a moment longer, as if assessing my worth, as if assessing whether I deserved a place in his household. Then his expression changed. Conn looked at me as though I was one of those silly mortals who’d flocked to apply for the change, rather than as someone who had been given no choice. He’d turned me, hadn’t he? Wasn’t it a bit late to wonder whether or not he wanted me here?Disappointment flickered in the depth of those impossibly dark blue eyes. Then he turned away. Just like that, his attention moved on from me, refocusing on the redhead at his side. The woman laughed as he leaned over, whispering in her ear, and something welled up inside me; something dangerous and reckless.Anger pounded through my veins until I could hear my pulse in my head. How dare he? How dare he take away my life and then turn away from me without so much as a word, especially to cavort with some woman who’d probably begged him to change her. I hated them both as they stood at the front of the room, whispering to each other. He thought he could change me then ignore me?He thought he could rip my life away and expect me to silently take whichever position he deemed I should fill?To hell with that.My anger peaked and overflowed, and when it did it triggered the strange link that bound me to my maker, just as drinking his blood had done. It dragged me forward, and I stepped away from James and Lex before either could think to stop me. I was pulled down the length of the hall by incorporeal ropes and when Conn noticed my approach he seemed surprised, uncertain. There was so much I wanted to say to him. I wanted to ask him why he’d turned me, why he’d broken the law, and why he was lying about my consent. I wanted to rant at him, to vent my fury in a tirade of accusations and hate. Yet words wouldn’t come, they were trapped in my chest by the ball of fear and fury which painfully blocked my throat.I acted in spite of my inability to form words, and my hand flew out of its own volition.Crack! The blazing red handprint I left on Conn’s cheek glowed momentarily, before his vampire ability to heal masked it from sight. Indignation hardened his expression into something cold, something frightening, and behind me a communal gasp swept through the room as every single one of the congregated vampires stared at me in disbelieving horror.Way to make an impression, Darcy.
What the hell had I just done?

Release Day Blitz Eerie by C.M. McCoy

What inspired the premise for your story?
First of all, thank you so very much for spotlighting EERIE on the Fang-tastic website! The premise for EERIE came from my childhood fear of the dark and the stories I used to tell myself at bedtime about creatures that lived in the shadows—creatures that could be good or bad.
Why is the setting to your story so important?
EERIE is set in both Pittsburgh and Alaska. Pittsburgh is a hugely important setting—one, because I know it so well, having grown up there, and two, because Pittsburgh is home to some of the most genuine, hard-working, heart-of-gold people I’ve ever met. And I’ve lived all over the US. Alaska, which is where I live now, is truly the Last Frontier. There’s so much mystery and unexplored areas in Alaska, it very well could be home to a ParaScience University with wild Yetis and untamed poltergeists.
Did you always wanted to be a writer? If not what did you want to be?
This is a great question, because it wasn’t that I always wanted to be a writer. It’s that I always was. I started writing a journal I’d made from school tablet paper I’d stapled together when I was in second grade. I started writing short stories when I was in fifth grade, and I was always throughout my career in the military writing…something. My first book-length work was a memoir. My second was EERIE, which is the first to see the light of publication. Growing up, I always thought I’d be a doctor or a chemist. I ended up being a chemical engineer.
How long did it take to get your first book published?
From the day I started writing EERIE to the day it will be released: 1 year, 9 months, 17 days.
From the day I first pitched EERIE to an agent to the day I signed with a publisher: 10 months, 18 days
Now that you have a feel for the publishing world, would you do anything different if you had to do it all over again?
I learned so much from my journey to publication that I can’t really think of any one thing I’d do differently. Actually, there was that time at my first writer’s conference, when an agent caught me talking to myself in the elevator…
What was the first book you ever published?
EERIE is my debut novel. I’ve got a memoir, which my agent is shopping now, and a YA thriller, which I’m editing for submission.

EERIE excerpt
Several buildings dotted the campus, some log, some stone, and one that looked like a giant igloo. Each bore an ornately carved wooden signpost with large, bubonic-looking knots.“Eureka Hall is here on the north-east corner.” Fin opened the outer door for her and showed her inside.“I’m on the third floor,” she told him.“I know.”Up the stairs they went, and Fin explained Eureka’s layout.“So, this is the only co-ed dorm on campus.” The stairway opened onto a large landing that split the building in two. “To the right are the boys’ rooms and to the left are all the girls’ rooms. The girls have their own showers, which are conveniently located almost directly across from your room, next to the laundry closet. In front of us is the Spruce Room, which is a community study hall slash TV room slash kitchenette.” He opened the door to the Spruce Room and turned on the lights.“Nice,” she said, taking in the giant TV, five fluffy couches, desks, and tables.
“This,” he said pointing to a large presidential-looking suite adjacent to the Spruce Room, “is where your Resident Assistant lives.”“Okay,” Hailey said with a nod.“If you have any problems—you get locked out of your room, you have an issue with your roommate, you need more Yeti spray—any problems, Hailey, you come and knock on this door, okay?”“Okay.”“And I’ll answer.”“O—what?”Fin smiled.“You’re my RA?” Hailey said brightly. “Yup.”Yes! He’d be right down the hall and could help her get her bearings and explain these in-betweens and answer her questions, and oh crap! What about Tomas and these ghost traps? She had to disable them. “I need to go to the library,” she blurted.“Of course you do.” Fin threw a confused hand in the air.“I need a German dictionary and a book that explains these ghost traps,” she continued very seriously. She did notwant Tomas getting stuck. “The campus map shows the library, but it doesn’t give the hours and—”“Stop. The library is closed. Besides, you need to unpack all your stuff,” he said holding up her tiny bag.She took it and frowned.“Go check out your room, make sure your key works, meet your roommate, take a shower, et cetera, et cetera. I’ll swing by later with a German dictionary.”He unlocked the door to his giant room. “And don’t worry about ghosts,” he said over his shoulder. “You’re not gonna get any ghosts in your room.”Hailey wrinkled her brow. “Oh?”
“They’re afraid of your roommate,” he said quickly through the crack in his door, shutting it before Hailey even had a chance to gasp.
