Author Patricia J. Anderson Discusses Threshold

Threshold takes place in Ooolandia, a world much like our own (but with an extra “O”). In this world, the feathered, the furred, the scaled, the shelled, the shorn, and the nearly naked all live and die, sometimes together, sometimes apart. They are divided by species and distracted by design, happily hypnotized by the culture of MORE. And why not? Who doesn’t want MORE? MORE thrills, MORE things, MORE big bottles of beer. MORE stuff for everyone!             But hidden in the fog of everydayness, a great calamity is approaching. Our hero, Banshooo, (okay, so he’s a monkey, but he’s also a brilliant scientist) has collected data showing that the natural world is losing the stability necessary to sustain life. His warnings are ignored by the authorities who are considering phasing out nature altogether. With his quirky sidekick, Taboook, (a species one-off whose main interest is eating,) Banshooo sets out on a journey beyond the surface of the Seen world to bring back proof of the true nature of nature.            Fearing the monkey may have been deconstructed in the Unseen world, his colleague, Sukie, (a mouse mathlete) joins with Ambrose, a far-seeing owl, and Joe, (a disillusioned surveillance employee) to develop a quantum computer program creating a 3-D Image revealing the threads of infinite complexity that sustain all life, and confirming that those threads are breaking apart. The Image is confiscated by the authorities and the rebels are on the run.             Meanwhile, after overcoming many obstacles and with the help of several mythic creatures and a fugitive raccoon, Banshooo has a revelation that brings him to, and through, the threshold to the Unseen world. There, he learns what is happening and why; he learns how stories influence what is possible and how a new story is waiting to be told, and he learns, much to his chagrin, that it’s up to him to tell it.              Banshooo and Taboook return to the Seen world and join Sukie and the rebel alliance in a desperate effort to retrieve the Image in time to save the beating heart of manifest energy. Will they succeed in time to avert disaster?              Threshold is an eco-fantasy proposing a new future in a land that mirrors our own. I hope you like it.

The monkey sighs a big one. “Okay, I saw an opening in the midst of a swirling foggy haze. I believe it is the gateway to the Unseen World. But when I tried to go toward it, it was like I was moving through layers of something, and then …”            “Then what?”            “Then I felt like I was about to break apart.”            Morie leans back. “Hmmm. That would indicate you might have been approaching another realm.”            Ambrose’s eyes grow even wider than usual. “Can you do that?”            “I knew a guy who tried.”            “Knew?”            “He’s no longer with us.”             “Oh.”            “There’s a molecular dispersion problem involved.”            “I see.”             “Supposedly there are ways to do it without splintering, but it’s complicated. It has to do with perception.” He looks at Banshooo. “For instance, you saw something that was happening in another space, like space travel but in your mind. If you could access that perception, if you could go into it, so to speak, you might be able to travel there without dematerializing.” Morie speaks slowly as he thinks out loud. “Time and space and perception. They’re joined, allied in some fundamental way. Exactly how and in what manner … that is the question.” He rocks back and forth slowly. “Are light-years a measure of the distance to enlightenment? I wonder …”

Music Playlist and Character Traits - A Bloodline’s Echo by M. R. Pilot

Hello Fang-Tastic book lovers! I’d like to thank Roxanne for letting me commandeer this blog post. 
As writers and readers, inspiration is a big deal for us. 
Music is one of my main inspirations. Not usually in the form of a full song, but oftentimes a specific melody or lyric that evokes an emotional response. An endless number of songs do this for me for different themes throughout A Bloodline’s Echo. Although, for some themes, I haven’t found the perfect melodic sentiment. 
The good news is I have met enough to make the forthcoming playlist. I’ve even picked out a lyric of choice for each track.

While you enjoy the music, I’ve chosen to briefly describe FIVE characters you’ll meet in this story:
Corinth, AKA Cori
               From farmer to barkeep to adventurer.
-        Looks: Long, golden brown hair, once dark brown eyes that are now a shade of crimson. Slender frame. Wears tattered clothes and an old cloak.-        Fears: Becoming her mother, never knowing her father, becoming a burden. -        Habits/notable traits: Gets lost in thought/noticeably wanders off. Feels the texture of an old book she carries around for comfort. Always curious. Likes to twirl leaves around.  
Rylo
-        Looks: Curly, bright red hair. Hazel eyes that respond to his mood. Wears a cloak, most notably with the hood up. Nice abs. In Cori’s words, he has a “constellation” of freckles. -        Fears: Not completing his unfinished business.-        Habits/notable traits: Puts himself in reckless situations. Doesn’t eat animal’s flesh. Tends to go from playful to moody without notice. Carries around emblems of each major city just in case he needs to pass as a trader.
Juniper
-        Looks: Silky black hair. Radiant, tawny skin. In the real world, she’d likely be considered of Asian descent. Wears the sporty ensemble of Fallborough’s Watchers.  -        Fears: Being in a room without light for too long. -        Habits/notable traits: Supremely loyal to Fallborough and the Kamai. Is always laughing. Can usually be found somewhere around her love/fellow Watcher Thoran. Keeps Rylo in check.
Draiden
-        Looks: A wicked kind of handsome. Dark hair, mossy eyes, black cloak. -        Fears: Unknown. -        Habits/notable traits: A personality that matches his face. Unabashed flirting. Annoys others, particularly Rylo, with a purpose. Shrewd humor. People he travels with tend to let him make the decisions.  
Ethel
-        Looks: Age-telling wrinkles. Black everything to match her mood: eyes, the skin around her eyes, clothes. -        Fears: Being vulnerable.-        Habits/notable traits: Will speak sourly of having company, but will not only let them in, but also cooks for them. Won’t sleep in a bed, only a chair. Prideful to a fault.
And, of course, there are many, many more characters in A Bloodline’s Echo that are dying to meet you.

Another excellent addition to the Witchcraft Mystery series.

Lily has her hands full planning a magical match tea party and a wedding that might not even happen because husband to be is in jail accused of a murder he didn't commit. She has to prove Sailor didn't kill Tristan, a man who came to town and threatened Lily even though they have a video of Sailor leaving the scene of the crime.

To make things even more crazy, Lily isn't feeling well- and she never gets sick. Her grandma and mother are coming in for the wedding but their bus is taking every detour possible. What is going on?

Something hinky that's for sure. Magical hijinks are afoot and one can't trust their eyes to tell them the truth.

Who really killed Tristan, what did Lily take from him, and where on earth is Lily's grandma and her coven?

Love the twists, turns, and unlikely character alliances.

I hope the next book gives us a fairytale wedding filled with much magical mishap.

8 ounces (1 cup) Demon Blood (Cranberry Juice Cocktail)
8 ounces (1 cup) Vodka (Ryder's Favorite Alcohol)
4 ounces (½cup) Ginger Ale (For an Uneasy Stomach)
2 ounces (¼cup) Sassy, Sour Lime Juice 
Pour into an Icy-Chilled Glass (To Match Ryder's Soul)
Garnish with Sliced and Stabbed Lime Wedges





Chase's Clumsy Pick-Me-Up Cocktail
Stir together:
8 ounces (1 cup) Chilly Coffee (Chase's Morning-After-A-Hunt, Pick-Me-Up)
Stir in 2 tbspoons of Sugar (Mix until all its Sweetness and Innocence Dissolve)  
3 ounces of Coffee Mixture
1 ounce of Blood Splatter (Amaretto Liqueur)

I even notice a colorful, feathery angel-wing tattoo that creeps down her left arm, which is ironic, given her profession. Come on, this girl cannot be doing a job like this.She smirks in response before I can conjure up an excuse for my gawking.“Not at all what you expected, huh,” she says, while gesturing to the hostess with two of her fingers.“Honestly, no you’re not…not really.” I figure it’s better to be honest with her right now. Finally, I build up enough courage to return her handshake. I’m embarrassed when my clammy palm touches her soft, cool skin.As we follow the hostess to a booth at the far end of the dining area, she responds, “Don’t worry, no one ever does. They expect some older, more spiritual looking woman who’s all decked out in crucifixes.”

Ashley doesn’t believe in down time whatsoever and actually loves having a full “To-Do”list. Ashley is a wife to her wonderful husband, Eric and a mother to a beautiful little baby girl named Dakota. She is also a Graphic Designer and a health and fitness coach. Her husband and daughter inspire her to be the best person she can be and encourage her to pursue any of her dreams (no matter how extravagant they may be).
