At 3:42 in the morning on February 20th, 2005, I was stepping out of the shower in a towel here in New York City after a long day-and-a-half of meeting deadlines. The Classic Rock station was on and the DJ said: "Hunter S. Thompson took his own life earlier today." Then the DJ played Jumpin' Jack Flash by the Rolling Stones.
