What Is "Gaycism" All About?
There's a term out there called "Gaycism." And some people are being called "Gaycists" in ways I've never seen before.
Urban dictionary defines it this way:
Racism against homosexuals.
Plain and simple.
But the two articles to which I'm linking below take it a step further and discuss how TV tends to go overboard with regard to gays and minorities in the quest to be funny...almost as if the two articles are trying to redefine the word to make gay characters on TV shows look racist.

Review: Destroy Student Debt: A Combat Guide to Freedom by KDP Author Joe Mihalic

After I read "No More Harvard Debt" by KDP author, Joe Mihalic, I posted a review and had no idea he'd be releasing a second book so fast. I still think in terms of old publishing in this regard...wait two years for another book to come out.
But the new book was released in August and I found out about it by reading his blog. I recently finished the second book and left reviews on Amazon and Goodreads, which I'm posting below.
I clearly liked the book and was not disappointed by anything I rea...

Author Kathryn Finney; Do Readers Really Care About Author Photos?
I'm linking to a video today about an author, Kathryn Finney, who has been dubbed "The Budget Fashionista" because she wrote a book titled, "The Budget Fashionista." I don't usually use words like "fashionista" because they make me nauseous, but I thought her story was interesting and I think it's an important post for all authors to read.
Allegedly, Ms. Finney's publisher had "issues" with her photo. In her own words, Ms. Finney stated, "The idea was that if you have a black woman on the cove...

E-Book Pricing: DOJ/Publisher Settlement Approved
When I saw this tonight I wanted to post something fast.
For those who have been led to believe this is about e-books putting bookshops and print books out of business you might want to read the facts a little closer.
As I see it, this is more about collusion. Period.
A federal judge has approved the U.S. Justice Department's settlement with a trio of electronic book publishers accused of conspiring in a price-fixing scheme orchestrated by the late Steve Jobs.

Guest Post: Thoughts About Life From a Gay Amish Man

I receive e-mails from readers that range from women of all ages to gay men living in situations where it's not possible for them to come out. And they have very strong, solid reasons for this. This is why when "National Coming Out Day" comes around each year I get frustrated beyond words. I think things like that put unnecessary pressure on gay people they don't need or want. The coming out process is different for everyone and those who choose not to come out...especially on "National Comin...

Captain Velvet's Velvet Box
Captain Velvet's Velvet Box is a short story that's an erotic parody on the superhero theme. Although the original storyline doesn't parody anything in particular, the main character is an erotic exaggeration with what I hope comes across as humorous parody. I do that often. A few reviewers have picked up on it and I thank them all sincerely. But a few didn't. So I'm explaining it in more detail for those who think I would actually write something serious about a burping dick(smile).

Is the Internet the Wild West?

The following links give different opinions on the topic of whether or not the Internet can be compared to the old wild west. On the one hand, I have experienced questionable situations online that almost always stemmed from Internet anonymity. However, I can't say I've been bullied or abused online and that's because I don't allow that to happen.
Now, on the other hand, the reason why I'm writing this post is because I saw one of the most vicious, notorious publishing bloggers on the world w...

"No Sockpuppets Here Please:" A Message From Some Writers
These days more and more books are bought, sold, and recommended on-line, and the health of this exciting new ecosystem depends entirely on free and honest conversation among readers. But some writers are misusing these new channels in ways that are fraudulent and damaging to publishing at large. British author Stephen Leather recently admitted that he used fake identities online to promote his work. The American bestseller John Locke has revealed he has paid for reviews of his books. The Bri...

Interesting Article: "On Being a Bi Author" by David Sullivan
When I was a kid a particular wish was to read other people’s minds, thus I ask a lot of questions. Because of my diverse background, including being bisexual, I’m the subject of many queries. I welcome questions because it leads to understanding, which leads to a calmer world. In third grade I enjoyed staring at cute, slender boys. Three years later girls got my attention and after that I was a switch hitter, but struggled with social stereotypes. Born in 1954, only straights and gays ‘exist...
