Amazon Alternate Universe; The Fosters; LGBTI Arrests in Russia
Amazon Alternate Universe
I'm not clear on this, so I'm just posting facts. The article to which I'm linking talks about how Amazon is having success with alternate universe fiction...which is like fan fiction, but not absolute fan fiction. (I think)
Here's an explanation that might put all this into perspective. I'm not going to attempt to define it in a short post.
Also, the article to which I'm linking mentions author, Hugh C. Howey. I've posted about him before, here, wi...

Real Gay Hate Russia; President's Message to Russia; Stephen Amell on Olympics
Real Gay Hate Russia
It gets harder to post these things each day, but they can't be ignored either. There is a British documentary out that allegedly tells the truth about what's really happening in Russia to LGBTI people. And it's not pretty. The article to which I'm linking mentions the Russian publicity machine in progress with the Olympic games and how they are toning things down for the sake of appearance, but let's not forget about the US publicity machine either. As it stands, the...

Free Gay Excerpt; Google Prostests Russian Gay Law
Google Protests Russian Gay Law
In a cyber show of support to the LGBTI community, and in protest to the anti-gay laws in Russia, Google has put up an image in the colors of the rainbow on their homepage. I think this once again shows how online companies and people who are more tech oriented tend to show more support for political and social issues like this. I'm sure somewhere else, someone, is protesting, too. But it's this kind of online support now that gains in popularity and informs peo...

Russia Anti-Gay Law; Gabourey Sidibe's in Deep Shit
Russia Anti-Gay Law
This article talks about how Russia is going to apply its anti-gay propaganda law, something I've been wondering about since I heard the law went into effect. Like most laws in any country, it sounds as if this propaganda law will be interpreted to suit the needs (and wishes) of the Russian Government.
For example:
The International Olympic Committee has reminded athletes that "no kind of demonstration or political, religious or racial propaganda is permitted in any Olympic s...

Anilingus
I'm working without power today, thanks to an ice storm that covered about ten inches of snow from Monday so please excuse any minor errors in this post. Ice and electric wires don't mix well, and blogging from an iPad isn't easy. But I have been wanting to post about this since last week. Anilingus, more commonly known as rimming, was recently talked about in an article I linked to in a post with regard to gay men. But according to these links below anilingus is NOT limited to...

You'll Cry; Disregard That, I S*&k...; Gay Attacks in Russia
You'll Cry
An Irish female impersonator recently made a speech on homophobia that's about as emotional as these things get. Panti Bliss puts all this into perspective by questioning why there's even a discussion about what rights gay people deserve and don't deserve...as if this shouldn't actually be a discussion at all.
“Sometimes I hate myself. I f*cking hate myself, because I check myself when I stand at pedestrian crossings."
“And sometimes, I hate you for doing that to me.”
Watch the video...

Gays and Steroids; Gay Teen Killed with Skateboard; 250 Words
Gays and Steroids
This article interests me because I don't think I've ever seen it addressed so openly before. It talks about how gay adolescents are more likely to use steroids than straight adolescents. And even though I usually don't like articles that draw conclusions like this, I have to admit I wasn't surprised in this case. Think of the aging circuit boy living in a warm climate all year round now who still can't put down the steroids to save his soul. I remember noticing this trend in...

JK Rowling on Hermione
I have to admit that I never read the Harry Potter series because it's just not my genre. But I did read, and review, Rowling's The Casual Vacancy and I loved it. So when I saw this article about JK Rowling kind of backtracking about how she would have re-written something in Harry Potter I thought it was interesting because most writers feel that way at one point or another. And it usually happens after a length of time has passed and you can stand back and look at thin...

Jonathan Groff to Critics
I posted my thoughts in a review of a review about the new LGBTI show, Looking, last week and most of my readers seemed to agree with me. It's all subjective, which is important to take into consideration. But in this case what the critics of Looking who call it boring don't seem to understand is that gay men like me and thousands of others aren't sitting back anymore while only a handful get to voice their opinions.
In other words, the gay community is highly diverse...

Langston Hughes Gay? No Gays In Boston Parade
Langston Hughes Gay?
One of the posts I wrote while writing about a story set in the Edwardian Era, Unmentionable: The Men Who Loved On The Titanic, has to do with how difficult it was to find any recorded information at all about anything male/male related during that time. And this article about Langston Hughes, African American Writer, is a perfect example of the information I found lacking in all my research. And this total blank continued from Hughes's birth date in 1902 right up unt...
