A Great Review and an Announcement

til_death_do_us_part_400x600I’m cautiouslypleased with how things are going so far with the release of my new book, ’Til Death Do Us Part. It’s been submitted for review at a number of review sites/blogs, and one has come through so far, but more have been promised.

Dyllan at Gay Book Reviews gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars, and designated it a “Recommended Read.” Here’s a short excerpt from the review:

“I really, really, really liked this story. The author sets the pace well, and we are able to get to know the characters an...

It’s Release Day!

I’m pretty excited to announce my first release day in almost seven years! I’ve received some positive feedback on the story, and I’m very proud of it.

For this first week you can get it for 20% off if you buy direct from the publisher, JMS Books. After that, it’ll be regularly priced at $5.99. It’s novel length, coming in at upwards of 70K words, with 215 pages in PDF format. As a sweet bonus, when you buy from the publisher (as opposed to one of the distributors…Amazon, B&N, ARe, etc.), you get a full set of formats (EPUB, MOBI, PDF, HTML) instead of having to make a choice and receiving only one.

For a long excerpt and all the details, go to my WordPress page for ’Til Death Do Us Part.

Already read it? Hoping for more? Check out what’s in the works on my WIP page.

BLURB

Henry and Sam Miller-Greene are living the dream. They love their careers — which afford each of them opportunities to travel to exotic locations — they love their home, Sam’s caring family, and each other. They disagree on the subject of adoption, but are fully committed to each other in marriage … ’Til Death Do Us Part.

The dream is shattered when Henry’s plane crashes, and he’s presumed dead. But four people — Henry, two other men, and a child — survive undetected on a remote, small, and insignificant island. Will Sam and Henry’s love be able to survive as well?

Henry fights to endure in harsh conditions, never knowing when disaster will strike. Sam struggles with his loss, but with help moves on with his life. Will Sam be able to put aside his new love when he reunites with Henry?

Rainbow Snippet #05

Rainbow

I’ve joined the Rainbow Snippets group on Facebook. From their description: “Rainbow Snippets is a group for LGBTQ+ authors, readers, and bloggers to gather once a week to share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation (no spoilers please!).” Pretty cool, eh? I contemplated sharing a snippet from one of my WIPs, but since one is a spin-off from ’Til Death Do Us Part (to be released at JMS Books tomorrow! Available for pre-order, now), and the other is a direct sequel, I feel like I should hold off a week or two before sharing from those. So, here’s another snip from ’Til Death Do Us Part:

For a little background leading into this, Henry is the first-person POV MC in this scene (who readers of last week’s snippet might remember was going down in an airplane crash). Needless to say he survived and made it to a small island. So did two other men and an older baby. “Devon” asked the question that opens this scene, following some discussion regarding how they will survive.

“How do you know this shit?”

Buddy held his half-mangled mango up to me and chanted, “Dadadadadadadadada.”

Jesus Christ. My Grinch heart was never going to be able to stand up to that. Devon muttered, “Ew,” as I took the slimy fruit, grimaced, and removed the pit with my teeth and fingernails, then peeled back the balance of the skin before handing back the gloppy mess.

Humanitarian mission accomplished, I returned my attention to Devon.

Technically the book releases tomorrow, but I see that the buy-links at All Romance eBooks and OmniLit are actually live for download right now. If you want to save 20%, though, and get the full set of formats (EPUB, MOBI, PDF, HTML) rather than having to choose just one, then wait to buy direct from JMS Books, tomorrow.

Two More Days!

TDDUP Promo Img#01

Only two more days before ’Til Death Do Us Part is available for download! This is my first new book since Cultivating Love was published by Loose ID back in June of 2009. I had a long stretch of “real life” keeping me from being able to find the time/space to write, but it feels good to be back.

The excerpt in the image, above, is taken from the story’s prologue. Sam and his fiancé, Nash, were just about to sit down to dinner when they were interrupted by a knock on the door. Sam gets some news that throws his life into turmoil. To get a sneak peak at the entire prologue as well as the exciting first chapter and all the buy-links, follow this link.

Flash Fiction Friday #01

Flash Fiction: There isn’t a standard specific definition for this term beyond “extremely short”, but for the purposes of my “Flash Fiction Friday” posts it will mean a precisely 100-word story scene written from a photo prompt.

Dublin Pic

I’m going to try to do this every Friday. For my first post, today, I’m kind of cheating. I’m recycling a bit of flash fiction I wrote back in November for a thread in Goodreads’ M/M Romance group. Anyway, the moderator posted the above image and it caught my eye.

The nerd in me wanted to know where this cute couple was strolling so I could work that into my little story. A little zooming and a bit of google-foo later, I figured out exactly where they were in Dublin, and wrote these 100 words to go with it:

“Look.” I squeezed Aaron’s hand. “It’s the ‘Wall of Fame’!”

Aaron smiled. “I still can’t believe we’re honeymooning in Dublin.”

I laughed. “Hell, I still can’t believe we were able to get married in our own home town in freakin’ Alabama!”

“We almost there?” Aaron asked.

“The Temple Bar? Yeah, see we’re at Cecilia Street now. It’s just up ahead after The North Face.”

“Make sure you check-in on Facebook. Devin and Stuart are going to be so jealous.”

“I’m not eating oysters. I don’t care what Stuart said.”

“Aw, come on, just wash them down with a Guinness Stout.”
