On This Day in Leadership History, June 2nd
On this day in leadership history in 1835. P.T. Barnum launched his first traveling show. The main attraction was Joice Heth. Heth was reputed to be the 161-year-old nurse of George Washington.
What’s the leadership lesson? Deception may be somewhat acceptable in the entertainment industry, but in work and leadership it’s a death nail to trust and authenticity. Honorable leaders are honest, open, and truthful.

Book Recommendation – “Scary Close”
The Latest Recommendation from Lee’s Bookshelf – “Scary Close: Dropping the Act and Finding True Intimacy” by Donald Miller. After decades of failed relationships and painful drama, Donald Miller decided he’d had enough. Impressing people wasn’t helping him connect with anyone. He’d built a life of public isolation, yet he dreamed of meaningful relationships. This is also an important leadership issue, too.
