Jill Shalvis' The Sweetest Thing – A Giveaway
Yes, believe it or not, there's a break in the DABWAHA for a few days. I won't be begging for votes today. I know you're as relieved as I am, aren't you?
But I want to offer up a sweet reward for all the fierce voting you've all been doing. My friend Jill Shalvis has a book releasing next week, the second in her Lucky Harbor series. Jill writes awesome, funny, sexy as hell contemporary romance, and THE hottest, most irresistible heroes on the planet. Once you sit down to read her books, there's no escape. Forget the laundry, the cooking, or anything else you have to accomplish. You just can't put her books down.
Two Men Are One Too Many . . .
Tara has a thousand good reasons not to return to the little coastal town of Lucky Harbor, Washington. Yet with her life doing a major crash-and-burn, anywhere away from her unfulfilled dreams will do. As Tara helps her two sisters get their newly-renovated inn up and running, she finally has a chance to get things under control and come up with a new plan for her life.
But sexy Ford Walker has his own ideas, such as keeping Tara hot, bothered . . . and in his bed. And when her ex wants Tara back, three is a crowd she can't control—especially when her deepest secret reappears out of the blue. Now Tara must confront her past and discover what she really wants. If she's lucky, she might just find that everything her heart desires is right here in Lucky Harbor.
I'm going to Preorder this book for one lucky winner. To be entered to win, tell me what you did over the weekend. (Besides a lot of DABWAHA voting…heh)
I'll choose a winner on Wednesday.

Giant Poster of THE PERFECT PLAY!
So I made a last ditch effort to gather votes in the first round of the DABWAHA. I was down by a ton of votes (because that Meljean Brook, she's pretty amazing and a fierce competitor), and we pulled it off. We won! We won because you all are awesome and incredible!
So in the midst of the voting, I had to offer some incentive– I offered up my 3 foot poster of Mick.
Mick wants to come live at your house. And I'm happy to let him go, because you all helped get me to Round 2. And I can't thank you enough!!! It was an epic comeback, brought about by all of you (with the extraordinary help of Maya Banks and Larissa Ione, and my amazing Writeminded Group).
So if you want a chance to win this poster, enter by posting in the comments below. You can tell me anything. Like how late you stayed up past your bedtime voting? Or how much of a nail biter the DABWAHA is, or just tell me anything. Random commenting fine. I'm exhausted!
I'll choose a winner on Friday evening.
This 'n That
A few items:
Operation Auction, the auction for our romance community member Fatin, is loaded with some amazing items. If you want to see some of the incredible things going up for bid when the auction starts on March 27th, check it out here and start making your list. Something for everyone!
And speaking of awesome, editor Angela James will be teaching her online self-editing workshop, "Before You Hit Send". It's a three week bootcamp of some of the best self-editing I've ever had. I've taken the course twice. I've been writing a long time, and believe me, no matter how good you think you are at editing your own book, you can sometimes forget the basics, or no matter how much you think you know, you might be missing some things that will make your book better. I highly recommend this detailed, informative workshop. Click for details and registration.
I had a great conversation with my Berkley editor yesterday about the Play-by-Play sports series. We finalized a title for the hockey book which will now be known as TAKING A SHOT. This will be Jenna's book for those who are wondering. TAKING A SHOT will release in February, 2012. Yay! We also discussed the fourth book in the series, at least as far as which sport I'll be doing. But I'll leave you guessing on that part for now. Yes, I'm a tease that way.
The DABWAHA tournament voting is up and running! Even if you didn't register for the DABWAHA tournament, you can join in the fun and get your vote on. New books to vote on every 12 hours, so get to voting!

Operation Auction!
As I mentioned on the blog yesterday, my wonderful friend Fatin lost her husband in a tragic shooting.
Fatin has been an integral part of the romance community for years – she owns and runs the RR@H Novel Thoughts and Book Talk blog, is an administrator of the WriteMinded loop, an author assistant and a tireless advocate for romance novels. She is also a friend to many in this community. On Tuesday, March 8th, she lost her husband in a senseless act of violence, leaving her alone with four children. You can read more about the tragedy here
The romance community would like to rally around her. Therefore, we will be holding auctions on ebay the last week of March. More information on exact days and donations will follow.
If you are an editor / agent / author / Or anyone else for that matter and would like to donate something for the auction – such as a critique, mentoring, lunches at RT or RWA, swag, signed books, etc., please contact me at jaciATjaciburtonDOTcom or use the contact form on my website with your donation items. Your help is greatly appreciated! Some examples of auction items might be signed books, baskets of fun stuff, critiques, lunches, mentoring, ARCs, pitch help, offers of specialty services like graphics design, etc. The totally awesome Larissa Ione asked readers recently what type of items they'd most like to bid on, so you might find this list helpful
