Genre

Dino Campana was an Italian visionary poet. His fame rests on his only published book of poetry, the Canti orfici ("Orphic Songs"), as well as his wild and erratic personality, including his ill-fated love affair with Sibilla Aleramo. He is often seen as an Italian example of a poète maudit. Dino Campana is generally represented as the “wild man” of Italian poetry. His Orphic Songs, written in 1914, represent a “romanticized” and idealized vision that lashed out against the bourgeoisie and contemporary attitudes of the Italians. ...more

“Qual ponte, muti chiedemmo, qual ponte abbiamo noi gettato sull’infinito, che tutto ci appare ombra di eternità ?”
Dino Campana, Canti orfici

“…A common little song has died
and left me here with a heart in pain
and sent me wandering lovelessly
to deposit my heart at every door:
with her who was never born yet died
and left to me a loveless heart:
and yet carries off my heart in pain:
to deposit my heart at every door.”
Dino Campana

“In un momento
Sono sfiorite le rose
I petali caduti

Dino Campana
