We’ve been completing more projects around the house this spring/summer, including removing several trees, which involved me being the operator of the front end loader—which I prefer, because I have no desire to run a chainsaw—and replacing our back deck which had been in great need of attention. We’ve also been enjoying alternate ways to celebrate birthdays and special events. I hope the same for you.
My wish is for all of you to stay well, happy, and healthy, and kind.

Release Day!
The Flapper’s Fake Fiancé, the first book in the Sisters of the Roaring Twenties miniseries is now available! I loved writing this series of sisters, Patsy, Betty, and Jane.
Betty's story, The Flapper’s Baby Scandal will be released in July and Jane's story, The Flapper’s Scandalous Elopement will be released in September!
And yes! I'm so excited that The Flapper’s Fake Fiancé is my 40thbook with Harlequin!

To her convenient fiancé!
Patsy Dryer may be a biddable heiress by day, but nothing will stop her from dancing all night in Hollywood’s speakeasies—or fulfilling her dream of becoming a reporter. She’s investigating the mystery of an escaped convict with brooding, handsome newspaper editor Lane Cox…until they must pretend to be engaged! With their scoop linked to Lane’s tragic past, dare Patsy hope for a happy ending for their own story, too?
Next up: I recently finished the first draft of a story set in 1912, where the heroine survives the sinking of the Titanic. It was a very fun book to write, and I often found myself lost in the research rather than writing.
Then: I’ve just plotted out two books set in the 1920’s again, brothers this time. Patrick and Connor McCormick.
The world is a bit crazy out there right now, so take care of yourselves. Relax. Pray. Enjoy the times of being home with your family. Keep in contact with those you can’t visit right now. We are going to make it through this and come out stronger. United we stand.
Blessings to each of you!

Stolen Kiss with the Hollywood Starlet

An innocent country girl…
With stars in her eyes!
In this Brides of the Roaring Twenties story, hotshot lawyer Walter Russell knows an innocent country girl like Shirley Burnette is going to find it tough in cutthroat Hollywood. A stolen kiss with this bright, young singer may be worthy of the silver screen—but Walter hates show business and has sworn off starlets. He knows he should steer well clear…if only he wasn’t so compelled to help her!
I loved this book, everything about it; the setting, the era, the clothes, the dialogue…everything! – From Frankie, reviewer with Chicks, Rogues and Scandals.
I enjoy writing these stories set in Hollywood during the roaring twenties so much that I signed a contract for three more to be released in 2020—Sisters of the Roaring Twenties!
The summer months passed by quickly for us with several trips up north to work on the bunk house we are building on our property to add more sleeping space and a large indoor gathering space for our growing family.
June brought us another granddaughter on the 18th! She is perfect in every way!
July was filled with berry picking (several varieties), making jam, and birthday parties that were loads of fun.
August was happy and sad. I traveled to Nebraska to see my brother, which was so fun. The sadness came on the 20th when we had to say our final good-byes to our wonderful grand-dog Bear. He was one of those once-in-a-lifetime dogs.
Now, it’s September. The grandkids are back in school and Papa and I are busy with all the things that didn’t get done yet, but need to before the winter rolls around.
Laugh every day, love every day, and count your blessings, for life is good.

Brides of the Roaring Twenties!
The first book of the Brides of the Roaring Twenties series will be released this week. I had such a great time writing these roaring twenties book that I’m working on two more! It’s such a fun-filled era and the Hollywood setting just adds to the glitz and glamour!
Brides of the Roaring Twenties books are about two women finding husbands in Hollywood.
Helen and Shirley are looking for fresh starts and head to where the bright lights beckon—Hollywood.
They thought they’d left scandal behind them, but find plenty more adventures amongst the speakeasies, starlets and of course the silver screen!
Though they weren’t looking, they each find a handsome Hollywood bachelor to guide them through the dazzling new world they’ve entered and eventually down the aisle!
Helen’s story: Baby on His Hollywood Doorstep

A baby who needs a daddy!
With the Chicago mob hot on her heels and her late best friend’s baby in her arms, Helen Hathaway hightails it to Hollywood. There she finds little Grace’s uncle, charismatic film producer Jack McCarney. She knows she should keep him—and Grace—at arm’s length; after all, they could be wrenched apart by Grace’s father’s return. But instead she’s falling for Jack, bonded by the baby who needs them both…
Shirley’s story: Stolen Kiss with the Hollywood Starlet

With stars in her eyes!
In this Brides of the Roaring Twenties story, hotshot lawyer Walter Russell knows an innocent country girl like Shirley Burnette is going to find it tough in cutthroat Hollywood. A stolen kiss with this bright, young singer may be worthy of the silver screen—but Walter hates show business and has sworn off starlets. He knows he should steer well clear…if only he wasn’t so compelled to help her!Coming soon!
On the home front, all is well! We had a busy winter with hunting up north, the holidays, our youngest son’s wedding, and learned that we will be grandparents again in June!!
Stay happy!

A Package in Today's Mail
Ultimately, I hope that people will enjoy each and every story that I write. It is why I write them.
Well, today, I received the ultimate fan letter.

Inside there were two hard cover books. One is Love Letters of the Great War . The other one is a blank diary/journal. There was also a beautiful gold envelope, a brown rubber egg, and a gold pin of a B-17 airplane.
Diary of a Romance Fan was written on the front of the envelope.
To say I was intrigued by all that is an understatement, as is to say I was sincerely touched when I opened the envelope and began to read.

The letter continues for three pages, where the writer says, “I have read so many romance stories, butDiary of a War Bride is a sparkling galaxy all on its own. Let me explain why.” The letter continues about how much she enjoyed the characters, Dale and Kathryn, and their story, and why, and what her favorite ‘lovely special moments’ where, which all led to her falling head over heals in love with the book. She states she can still see Dale and Kathryn, years later, older, grayer, still holding hands, still teasing each other, and still madly in love.
The final page of the letter says:

Today is Armistice Day, dear Diary, and is a particularly significant one as it is the centenary of the end of the first World War. I have my edition of First World War Poetry beside me, and watched Vera Brittian’s Testament of Youth. But I also have an assortment of what seems like odd items but aren’t once I explain. An anthology of love letters from soldiers of WW1 to their sweethearts. A brand-new diary to be filled with new adventures and journeys. Dale and Katheryn’s story was set in World War 2, where we saw the American B-17, so this little plane is for remembrance. And finally, Dale and Kathryn were awfully clumsy around eggs. Really careless. So here’s one that won’t break, even if Kathryn gets really cross and squeezes them into Dale’s hands again. But he won’t mind. It’s what brought them together. Yours truly, Louise.
I was standing in the kitchen, a bit teary-eyed having just finished reading the letter when my husband walked in.
Frowning, he asked, “What’s wrong? What’s that?”
I held up the letter and stated it was the most beautiful letter I’ve ever read.
It was.
Nothing in my writing career will every top the very special package I received today. And nothing will ever motivate me to keep writing like that little gold B-17 pin and that rubber egg.

Coming in July!
I’m super excited to tell you about my July releases!

The land girl and the US officer
July 1942
Dear diary, despite the war raging around me, I find I can’t stop thinking about the American officer, Sergeant Dale Johnson. I’ve never known anyone as brave, kind and handsome! But I promised myself I wouldn’t care this much about a man again, especially when he could be transferred at any time. Yet that only makes me want to relish our time together. Now fighting my heart feels like the biggest battle…

Then Beneath a Beating Heart will be released. This is a book I worked on in-between contracted stories and am so glad to see it being published by The Wild Rose Press! It’s a ghost story/time travel rolled into one.
Engrossed in her passion for cataloging antiques in an old home, Liz Baxter encounters the ghost of the original owner. However, Rance Livingston doesn’t believe he’s a ghost. He claims it’s 1901, and she’s his long-lost wife. The harder she tries to convince him she’s not, the more she starts to wish she was.
Rance can’t explain how the woman wearing strange clothes got into his house, or why she insists it’s 2018, but he's convinced his and Beth’s love was so strong, her spirit would have found a way home to him. He doesn’t care about what happens in the future. He just wants Liz to realize she’s his Beth. His wife.
Through trial and errors and with a love that grows stronger with every encounter, Liz and Rance fight for what they believe will be the happy-ever-after—the other deserves, but will that mean they can be together?
I’m currently working on a few projects, including a duet of stores set in Hollywood during the Roaring Twenties.
I’m also so excited that summer is right around the corner. We’ve already had several fun evenings visiting with family and friends on the patio and look forward to so many more.
Be well, be happy, and keep smiling!

I hope you all have been happy, healthy, and wise! And stay that way!

Now Available

Married to Claim the Rancher’s Heir was released in print on January 16th, and the ebook version will be released on February 1st. To claim his heir…
…he must marry his enemy!
Gabe Callaway is outraged when feisty Janette Parker lands on his doorstep with her orphaned niece—though he soon realizes little Ruby is heir to his ranch! If Janette wants money, he’ll pay her off to keep the little girl in her rightful place. But all Janette wants is Ruby… Will Gabe do whatever it takes to claim his heir—even marry Janette?
Other books that will come out in 2018 include In the Sheriff’s Protection in March/April (it's part of the Mail Order Brides of Oak Grove series), Diary of A War Bride in June/July, and a story about a gambler's Christmas homecoming (titled yet to be determined) in Harlequin’s Christmas anthology that will be released in October/November. I’ll also have a paranormal story released later this year by The Wild Rose Press.
Westerns have been my favorite stories to read and write for years, but because they are being eliminated in Harlequins historical line, I will be exploring a few other eras to write about and am looking forward that.
I’m also looking forward to an upcoming vacation to a place full of sunshine and beaches!
Stay happy and kind.

Are you ready?

Here is our very special granddog, who has the ability to make every day special. He arrives at our door early every morning with a doggy grin on his face and his tail wagging like he hasn't seen us in years rather than hours. He acts the very same way when his family comes to pick him up every night. You just have to love an attitude like that.
If you're still looking for some Christmas stories to read, Harlequin has several books on sale for only 99 cents, so head on over to my Amazon page and take a peek.
I'm excited to say my WW2 story is done! Diary of a War Bride will be released in July!
And, I have some covers to reveal!!

Married to Claim the Rancher's Heir will be released in February!

In the Sheriff's Protection (Oak Grove series) will be released in April!
I wish you all a very happy holiday season!!!

Happy November!

Today, while the blistery weather continues, I have a fire going in the wood stove, and Uncle Cody just stopped over and built a fire in the stove in the sauna for us all to enjoy this evening. Yep, it’s that time of year.
If you're looking to snuggle up and read a book today, several of mine are on sale for $.99, $1.99, $2.99, etc. You can view them on my Amazon page.
And over at The Pink Heart Society today there is a fun post about favorite time periods, and a poll to vote for your favorite.
I wrote about my favorite time period—the wild west—however today, I’m deep in edits for my WW2 story. It’s been fun to write in this new-to-me era. The hero is Dale Johnson from North Dakota and the heroine is Kathryn Winslow from London. Once the edits are complete on this story, I’ll be back to writing a western. Another Christmas one, which are always fun.
Stay warm and embrace the days as the holidays arrive one after the other!!
