As Mothers Day is onlyone month away with Fathers Day quickly following, now is a good time to purchase some special books to celebrate!Quarterly I have the opportunity to write for The Senior Voice in the section:Grand Times, Reading with Your Grandkids. (Thank you Heidi Frankel for that opportunity!) In the next newspaper, these are the books I highlight for the holidays:

The Night Before Mothers Day

By Natasha Wing, Illustrated by Amy Wummer

Natasha Wings series starts off each holiday perfectly. Her Mothers Day book is no exception. The family sends mom off on a run with her friends while they prepare surprises for Moms Day. The next morning, they have the spa set up in the kitchen, brunch and a bouquet of flowers, and lots of love all ready for Mom. Mom thanked us for everythingit brought her such cheer. ALL FOUR STARS is out in paperback today!

All Four Stars by Tara Dairman CoverHip, hip, hooray!

Happy April 7otherwise known as the paperback release date for my first novel,All Four Stars.Im incredibly excited about this for several reasons.

1) More affordable price point. Hardcovers are gorgeousand durable, but can be too expensive for some families to afford. When I was growing up, my appetite for books was insatiable, and parentsonly ever bought me paperbacks. So the feel of a paperback in my hand is really the quintessential reading experience for me. Im excited that the lower price point of a paperback will helpAll Four Starsmake the leap into more young readers hands

2) Bonus content. The paperback ofAll Four Starscontains recipes for two dishes mentioned in the book! Of course, Ive had recipes from the bookavailable here on my website since the book was first released, but itll be extra nice for young readers to

Ive seen first hand how much author visits excite students about reading and writing. personally, I love the live interaction with the kids! If your budget allows, make the commitment and host an author. If it doesnt, Skypevisitsare another option.

Ive been doing Skype sessions for three years now. Ive beamed in to schools in the United States, Mexico, Canada and even India. Its a great way to connect with my audience in a casual way and for the kids to ask a real author their burning questions.

100thdayAt this time, my Skype sessions are free, and because of that, Ive had a lot of requests! Mostly for the 100th day of school celebrations and Read Across America. I love Skyping since I can do it from the comfort of my office where I have quick access to show-and-tell examples. Plus the

What experiences, people, and/or books were influential in your life, leading you to write your own childrens books?

The book that inspired me to write childrens books is The Polar Express by Chris Van Allsburg. When I saw that book at a Christmas fair, I picked it up and had a white light experience. All the people around me disappeared

The Night Before Valentine’s Day, “Cards, Candy Hearts & Cupid”

Introducing Our Featured Friend: The Night Before Valentines Day
by Natasha Wing, Illustrated by Heidi Petach

Twas the night before Valentines Day,

and all through the town,

children were busy,

not making a sound.

They gathered their scissors,

their glitter and glue,

pink and red paper,

and paintbrushes, too.

They made cards that read,

Will you be mine?

and others that said,

My true valentine.

The kids went to sleep dreaming of candy hearts, eager for the next school day! They arrived to a decorated classroom;they played games and enjoyed face painting. They gave their Valentines Day cards toeach other, ate yummy treatsand drank punch with heart-shaped ice cubes.

Just when the party was almost done, a surprise guest arrived: the

Twas the night before the 100th day
when I started to worry.
Whatll I bring into school?
I need something in a hurry.

Most kids had their 100 items ready for the party at school: 100 pencils, 100 cars, 100 jelly beans, 100 gold stars. But, every timethe main character, a young boy, counted his items, he came up short . . .until he thought of something that no one else would bring: ants!

He waited patiently the next day in classwhile everyone had a turnduring Share Time.Thenhe headed to the front ofthe room excitedly
