Two Genius Lutherans - Schmauk and Loy - Ignored Today by Everyone.Alec Satin's Lutheran Library Publishing Ministry
“The history of the Church confirms and illustrates the teachings of the Bible, that yielding little by little leads to yielding more and more, until all is in danger; and the tempter is never satisfied until all is lost. It is impossible to find a place to stop, when the concessions once begin." — Matthias Loy
Level of Difficulty: Primer: No subject matter knowledge needed.
Matthias Loy (1828-1915) is a theological giant of American Lutheranism. He served as president of the Joint Synod of Ohio, the Columbus Seminary and Capital University, and edited the Lutheran Standard and the Columbus Theological Magazine. In 1881 he withdrew the Joint Synod from the Synodical Conference as a result of Walther’s teaching about predestination. Many of Matthias Loy’s books are available in Lutheran Library editions.
The truth offends people“There is not an article in our creed that is not an offence to somebody; there is scarcely an article that is not a stumbling block to some who still profess to be Christians. It is impossible to find a place to stop, when the concessions once begin. And the reason is manifest; the principle is wrong, and displaces a principle that is right. The one is human, the other is divine; the human opinion and sentiment is substituted as a rule and guide for the Word of God and the faith that accepts it as absolute authority. – Matthias Loy

Coming Soon - The I AM Sermons in the Gospel of John: The Name of God in Exodus 3
I sent one or more copies of - The I AM Sermons in the Gospel of John: The Name of God in Exodus 3 - using Prime, so the copies should arrive this Saturday or Sunday. I was promised yesterday for mine, but it came today.
Don't be shy about emailing me if you did not get yours by Monday, or if you need more copies. Email - greg.jackson.edlp@gmail.com
Cub Editor Phil Hale will get his copy of The I AM Sermons in John. He will probably use it to stabilize the kitchen table leg. The WELS, ELS, and LCMS Seminary libraries are getting theirs. I skipped the ELCA seminaries because I do not know which one will close next.
The Synoptic Parables are next, and my academic calendar has been trimmed by me. Three classes tended to morph into more, so I am now keeping the number at two online classes.
I will work on audio for the broadcasts tomorrow morning. We had a big improvement in sound, with two more steps to take - using the hymn files, not linking from the Net, and using the Broadway Mike alone for sound coming from the same approximate place. I will record that tomorrow morning, d.v.

“…A good selection of Scripture passages well suited for reading at family worship…chosen to furnish a reading for every day and to complete the bible in a year.
Level of Difficulty: Primer: No subject matter knowledge needed.
Rev. Jesse Hurlbut writes,
“It has seemed to me that there is need of a good selection of Scripture passages, of nearly uniform length, fitted for reading at family worship, so chosen as to furnish a reading for every day in the year and to complete the Bible in a year.”
“But though all parts of the Bible are valuable, and even its driest genealogical tables have their uses to the student of history, yet all portions are not equally profitable for devotional purposes, nor adapted to reading in the family.”
“In the selection of passages the endeavor has been to follow the general current of history in the Bible, choosing mainly such passages as have some plain spiritual purpose; interspersing psalms with historical portions, and placing the selections from the prophets and the epistles nearly where they belong in the historical order.”
“It is the prayer of the compiler that this little work may help to a better understanding, a deeper interest, and a richer enjoyment in the Word of Life. – Jesse Hurlbut, New York, September 9, 1890.

The I AM Sermons Book Is Off to the Pre-Printers
Sending a book off is a combination of pain and exhilaration. I am sure I will find something wrong the moment I open up the first copy - and that is inevitable. On the other hand, I am excited to see it in print because I believe the actual Greek of these sermons, from Jesus Himself, conveys more than I am. The two words in Greek match the Voice from the Burning Bush.
That also fits into the historic identification of the Burning Bush as a representation of the Incarnate Son of God - Two Natures in One. The bush burns but remains whole.
A wonderful book is one of my all-time favorites - The Two Natures in Christ by Chemnitz.

Historical Critical Method Began the Trainwreck of the Modern Denominations
WELS' Jungkuntz only started one gay seminary - Metropolitan Community Church as part of Seminex. The results are in - it spread to all of ELCA's seminaries, which are non-binary now.
Thanks to the Historical Critical Method of mutilating the Bible, and the leadership of Jungkuntz and Eaton, the seminaries are emptying faster than Lake Meade. But they still line up together for Thrivent monies and treats: ELCA, LCMS, WELS, ELS, etc.
“Why did I leave the ministry when I left the Congregational church? Because, in the first place, my New Theology and Higher Criticism had destroyed my faith in the perfect, divine authority of the Bible; and in the second place, they had destroyed my faith in the perfect deity of Christ. When I had lost these two things I had lost everything… I could preach all the practical side of Christianity, but not the central fundamental truths of Christianity, Christ and his salvation through the cross.

New - The I AM Sermons in the Gospel of John: The Name of God in Exodus 3
I sent the book out for editing. Janie Sullivan will put the finishing touches on it, about 60 pages long. I have enjoyed the last stages of writing, which include going over every word, the big themes and the little details.
Once the book is live on Amazon, I will begin sending two copies, sometimes more, to the usual suspects. I am also distributing KJV books and Bibles for free, thanks to the generous support of many people.
The parables will be next, but only after some catching up on various computer necessities.
Addressing topics from the Bible is a great blessing. I have the time and the help from many people to get these books out. I am especially thankful to God for Norma A. Boeckler's artistic gifts and generous use of her time.

“We have made faith in Christ the central and regulative principle, just as Paul did, just as Luther did, just as the Augustana and all other Lutheran Symbols do. If anything in our Lutheran system of doctrine must bend, or step aside, it cannot be faith in Christ; for He is the express image of God’s person, His perfect revelation, and faith in Him is our only hope. – From Chapter 4

“This is a graphic story of the gradual unveiling of the meaning of the Apocalypse in the light of the events of history. It traces this development through eighteen centuries, from the days of the apostolic and martyr Church to those of the mediaeval Church, the Reformation Church, and the Church of modern times. It is a history of the gradual evolution during eighteen centuries, under the influence of historical facts, of that system of interpretation which has commended itself to the most temperate and enlightened minds, Historicism.” — H. Grattan Guinness.

Read moreThe Lutheran Catechist by George Henry Gerberding“The Lutheran minister has three special activities. He is, first of all, a preacher of the Word, the whole Word, its Law and its Gospel. He is always and everywhere a seelsorger, a pastor, an under-shepherd, seeking the lost, feeding and caring for those in the fold, knowing them by name, carrying on his heart their woes, their wants and their welfare, looking after them individually and collectively. If he would make full proof of his ministry, he must love the Shepherd and Bishop ...
