Fireworks please!

I'm celebrating with fireworks

My fireworks

And THANK YOU to all the readers out there turning Winter's Heat into an Amazon bestseller.  My book is now #93 on the bestseller's list.  It's #1 in Kindle and Book Historical Romance and #4 in Historicals.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program…I have to fold the clothes and feed the chickens so we can get in the car with Sedona and drive 1.5 hours down to Phoenix. Sedona isn't fond of driving. It makes her nervous and when she's nervous she farts. 1.5 hours in a closed car with a farting dog. That'll keep my feet planted firmly on the ground.

I missed a day due to food poisoning

I don't know where or how I got it, but I was down for the count Sunday. So, happy Happy Halloween and thanks again. Winter's Heat is now #135 on Amazon's Kindle list. It's listed at #4 in Kindle Historical, #3 in Kindle Historical Romance and #3 in Historical Romance Books

I'm keeping myself grounded…pun intended…by planting. Today it was blueberries and strawberries. The raspberries I planted this summer are already bearing. This may turn into a farm sooner than I expected!

Another jump in the rankings

This morning Winter's Heat is at #154 in Kindle, and a solid #4 in the three categories: Historical Romance, Kindle Historical and Kindle Historical Romance. Maybe I should be getting used to this but I'm not. It's just so unexpected. Thanks to all of you!

Well, today is a driving day. We're off to Phoenix. I've got an appointment with Changing Hands Bookstore to assess the quality of Monica's paperback, which we've published ourselves. They will carry it (for a fee of course) if it qualifies. I think it will. Amber and I have worked hard getting all the bugs out of it. It'd be nice for Men-ipulation to get some exposure. Although it's nothing like my Historicals, it is a good book in its own right

So off to make a dish (my sausage and noodles; if it's not in the recipe section I'll add it later) for the potluck bridal shower I'll also be attending today.

Gotta do the update again

Winter's Heat's numbers keep rising. Today, Rannulf and Rowena are at #174 in Kindle (amazing!!!). They are #4 in Kindle Historical, #4 in Kindle Historical Romance and #5 in Historical Romance Books. It's all so thrilling, and thank you everyone…but it's time to put my feet back on the ground and garden. Winter is on the way and I have tomatoes to save.

Winter's Heat breaks 200!

October 27, 2011

The miracle continues.  This morning Rannulf and Rowena were sitting at 198 on Amazon.com.  Now that's a number I never really thought I'd see.  Thank you everyone out there who fell in love with these two people the way I did.  (I'm sure I've mentioned that I'd lived with these two people for 12 years while I researched their time period then wrote their book.)

This morning Winter's Heat is at

#5 in Kindle Historical

#5 in Kindle Historical Romance

#7 in Historical Romance Books

Truly an amazing gift.  THANK YOU ALL!

By the way, the strawberries did get planted yesterday as did the artichokes.  I squeezed them in between rainstorms.  Later that afternoon I went back out to find the chickens happily digging them all back up again!  I'm rethinking "free range" this morning.

This morning I'm considering hanging my bird block–the fine black netting usually used on fruit trees to keep off the birds–across the lower driveway in the hopes it will deter the javelina from my lasagna garden. Elliot Coleman says in his book "The New Organic Grower" that it works to keep out the deer at his farm.  It's very fine and would be invisible at night, making it like walking through a huge spiderweb.  If this works I might get to keep this garden.  Most everything they ate or dug up the other day is coming back and I did finally get my herbs in along the garden's edge.

Winter's Heat Update

Today, Rannulf and Rowena are up a little. They're basking at

#214 Paid in Kindle Store

#5 in Kindle Historical

#8 in Books Historical

#8 in Kindle Historical Romance

Thank you SO much!

So now what? The company is gone, the house is a wreck, I'm still working on scanning in Lady in White. I have a flat of strawberries to plant, as well as a flat of artichokes. I have to get the birdblock strung in the hopes it'll deter the javeline. Oh, and don't forget I've got an article to finish for The Medieval Chronicle. (Better do that first!)

Thanks to all of you again!

Winter's Heat is still climbing…

I'm so stunned I can't take it in!

Today (Oct. 23) Winter's Heat's rankings on Amazon.com are:

#257 Paid in Kindle Store

#8 in Kindle Store Historical Romance

#8 in Books > Romance > Historical

#8 in Kindle Store Historical

(I checked them while sitting by my fireplace, waiting for the house to warm up so I can go feed the chickens. The puppy is chewing on a green bow from a bag of caramels I mistakenly bought for everyone yesterday–I'm the only one who ate them–because the kittens won't let her chew on them this morning.)

Thank you, thank you!
